Layla Bagels & Coffee Beverly Hills Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Layla Bagels & Coffee, specifically at its vibrant Beverly Hills location, is not just another bagel shop; it represents the new wave of artisanal bagel culture that has captivated the Southern California culinary scene. Located on the bustling and upscale South Beverly Drive, Layla's has quickly become a standout destination for California residents seeking a unique, high-quality twist on the classic breakfast staple. Unlike many traditional New York-style bagelries, Layla Bagels is celebrated for its distinctive hand-rolled, freshly baked sourdough bagels, which offer a desirable cross between the chewy texture of a New York bagel and the subtle tang of sourdough starter.
This location is adored by locals for its commitment to using the "freshest ingredients," which elevates their menu from simple schmears to gourmet, creative open-face and closed-face sandwiches. Patrons consistently praise the quality of elements like their smoked salmon, heirloom tomatoes, and the innovative use of seasonal fruits and herbs. The entire operation is designed for the modern Los Angeles lifestyle, functioning both as a welcoming spot for a sit-down "Breakfast" and a speedy option for a "Quick Visit," whether you are grabbing a quick Bagel and Schmear or a specialty coffee before starting your day.
The menu at Layla Bagels & Coffee is extensive, covering everything needed for a complete, satisfying start to the day. The offerings go far beyond the typical bagel joint, featuring over a dozen unique Bagel Sandwiches—including savory favorites like The Laika (smoked salmon) and inventive breakfast options like Sammi’s Egg Sammy—as well as highly creative sweet choices like The Pre Jam, which showcases seasonal fruit and a touch of local honey. The coffee program is equally sophisticated, offering a full range of espresso and matcha drinks, from a classic Cappuccino to specialty offerings like the Salted Maple Latte and Yellow Peach Matcha Latte.
Despite its popularity, which often results in a line out the door, the service at Layla Bagels is frequently described as "super upbeat, fun, friendly," and highly efficient, ensuring the line moves quickly. This combination of culinary creativity, ingredient quality, and high-energy hospitality establishes Layla Bagels & Coffee as a beloved, essential fixture in the Beverly Hills dining landscape for bagel enthusiasts across California.
Location and Accessibility
Layla Bagels & Coffee is perfectly situated in a prime spot on South Beverly Drive at 233 S Beverly Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90212, USA. This highly desirable, central location positions the shop on a "fun block" known for its vibrant atmosphere and concentration of dining and retail options, making it a convenient destination for Beverly Hills residents, local professionals, and visitors to the area.
As is common in high-traffic commercial districts within California, parking requires planning. The location offers both Paid Parking Lot options and Paid Street Parking nearby. While parking is not free, patrons have multiple official options for securing a spot, which is typical for a busy area like Beverly Drive. Reviews suggest that while seating can be crowded, especially during peak weekend brunch times, the atmosphere is engaging and the line moves with impressive speed.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We ADORED Layla Bagels and Coffee! We went to the Beverly Hills one. Charming, incredibly delicious original take on the bagel and more. Freshest ingredients. Amazing delicious combinations which include fresh herbs and seasonings as well as the key ingredients. The tomatoes, cucumbers and onions, the quality of the smoked salmon, and the beautiful fruit bagels with the freshest fruit and wonderful flavor combinations like adding honey to it are THE BEST. This is a casual place with indoor and outdoor seating on a fun block of Beverly Drive. Plus one more thing - the staff is super upbeat, fun, friendly, and they understand the essence of hospitality
September 16 · Carol Fishman CohenThe bagels, especially the Pre-Jam, were stunning visually and tasted great. It’s clear that the fruits and vegetables were fresh and top notch, and pricing seemed fair. My only complaint is that it is difficult to eat the bagel since toppings keep falling off after each bite.We came on a Sunday morning and there was a line out the door, but it moved very quickly. We couldn’t find a place to sit so we stood in the area by the stools.
July 29 · Stephanie LauThe bagels are certainly packed full of flavor and very beautifully presented for those Instagram posts and stories, but I still wouldn't necessarily consider it a spot worth visiting on a regular basis.First off, it's a lovely and inviting space - open and airy inside, very clean and spacious throughout.Placing my order, however, I didn't really find the service to be all that friendly.I understand they're probably relatively crowded on a regular basis in terms of orders, but still - it was a bit off-putting.Anyways, on to the bagel itself!I went for 'The Lily', which has a LOT of red pickled onions, and also cucumbers, lemon zest, and dill - amongst other toppings. While I did enjoy its light creaminess in combination with the fresh, crunchy cucumbers, tangy pickled onions, and zesty lemon flavors, it also slightly disappointed me in other ways.First of all, like I mentioned already, I just felt there were WAY too many pickled onions. It definitely gave the sense that it was primarily designed for its look on Instagram photos & stories, something I vehemently dislike with 'trendy' foods. The taste, quality, and flavor should come first. And while it was there for the most part, there was definitely some preference given to the 'Instagrammable' aspect of it.The bagel is also just very difficult to eat and keep together, likely due in some part because of that whole 'photogenic' aspect of it.It's just kind of messy and frustrating to try and eat.Overall, it's a nice cafe space with good quality bagels packed full of flavor, even if they ARE designed in many ways for social media.
September 13 · Parker GreenA great spot for delicious speciality coffee drinks and bagel sandwiches. I highly recommend The Scarlett. The bagels are light, the presentation is beautiful, and the food is a little messy so get plenty of napkins. This location in Beverly Hills has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and street parking.
June 11 · Paul SchneiderYou do not need to order the whole, trust me when I say the half size is enough. The bagels taste great, fresh and chewy with a nice crunchy outside. The bagels come super duper topped with everything! Which honestly kinda annoyed the eating experience.. I understand it looks nice, but I feel I have to take a shower after eating..Great options and delicious menu items!! Loved the hot sauce options.
