Le Dix-Sept Pâtisserie Introduce
Welcome to the heart of San Francisco’s culinary scene, where local artistry and French technique meet California's love for vibrant, natural ingredients. If you're a California resident—or even just visiting—and seeking a truly unique bakery experience, look no further than Le Dix-Sept Pâtisserie in the dynamic Mission District. This is more than just a place to grab a morning pastry; it’s a destination that has cultivated a dedicated local following for its commitment to exceptional quality, botanically inspired flavors, and its distinct, welcoming style.
Le Dix-Sept Pâtisserie stands out in the bustling Bay Area market not only for its delicious creations but also for its compelling mission. Founded by Bay Area native Michelle Hernandez, a classically trained chef who honed her skills at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and in Michelin-starred restaurants, the patisserie is a blend of world-class technique and personal, botanical passion. The core mission of Le Dix-Sept is to create and share unique pastries and confections that incorporate the beauty and power of botanicals such as flowers, teas, cacao, and honey. Michelle’s work is an ode to her own beautiful and multi-cultural heritage, incorporating influences from her Mexican, Pacific Islander, Arizona, and California roots into edible art. This approach results in an innovative menu that pushes beyond traditional French pastries to offer something truly distinctive to the community.
The bakery is recognized for its sleek, minimalist interior and exterior presentation, which many customers find clean and sharp, creating a delightful atmosphere for a quick visit. It proudly identifies as a women-owned business, contributing to the rich diversity of small, local enterprises that thrive in San Francisco. For those who appreciate high-quality ingredients, Le Dix-Sept uses premium products, a detail that local food enthusiasts certainly notice and value. Patrons have described the experience as an introduction to a "hoity-toity bakery" due to its decadence in flavor and style, cementing its reputation as a boutique culinary movement in the city.

If you are looking for a quintessential Le Dix-Sept experience, a few items consistently receive high praise and truly embody the patisserie's unique blend of flavors and techniques.
The Cannelés are arguably the most raved-about item, celebrated by many customers for being the best they've had, achieving that difficult-to-master perfect balance of a dark, caramelized crust and a rich, tender interior. This French specialty is a testament to the chef's classical training.
For those who enjoy fruit-forward desserts, the Almond Tart With Passionfruit Crème is highly recommended. It’s noted for its delightful balance of tartness and creaminess, offering a bright, tropical note that feels very Californian while being executed with French precision, and it is a popular gluten-free option.
On the savory side, the Focaccia Classic Herb and Focaccia Chocolate are exceptional choices. Customers have lauded the focaccia for its divine texture, describing it as peppery with a crispy top—an excellent savory counterpoint to the many sweet treats.
Finally, don't miss out on the drinks. The Passionfruit Ginger Fizz is a standout, and the various Matcha Cloud and Chocolate offerings (like Lavender or Pasilla Iced Chocolate) offer creative, comforting ways to enjoy your botanical journey. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1So I wanted to love this place, it’s cute, there was an art pop up outside, but I love canneles and theirs were unforgivable. Tiniest I have ever seen and they were so so burnt. Look at the photo of how tiny they look in my toddler’s hands and look how burnt and thick what should be a caramelized exterior is. I would not sell those at all let alone at $5 a piece. The rest of the baked goods pictured: breakfast bread (not filled enough but good flavor), passion fruit almond tart (dry but good passion fruit flavor), and the cookie my other toddler would not share and ate every last crumb of it so I assume it was super sweet. The cinnamon coffee special was tasty but overly overpriced for what it is.
September 21 · Jumana HIn carousing with my buddies after lunch, I was introduced to a hoity-toity bakery and I just loved their decadence in flavor and style. In these pictures, the first one is what I had, their version of brownies. One of my buddies picked up a focaccia, the second shot, which looked so tempting, with the texture looking so divine. The rest are the shop's clean, sharp and minimalist interior and exterior presentation. It was a great introduction to this place, Le Dix-Sept Patisserie. For years now, there has been quite a boutique culinary movement in the city in producing some of the best artisan bread and pastries, and I have no complaints about that. I certainly had no complaints about the brownies I devoured.
May 24 · Ray SantiagoOh wow! This was worth the trip to the mission despite the chaos of an unexpected parade! We loved the buckwheat brownie with bitter cocoa nibs and the cornmeal raspberry scone.
May 25 · Alicia DiGiammarinoDiscovered this gem during a Cafecito Tour, put on by Mission Loteria. Check it out!Le Dex-Sept does not disappoint! Everything looks amazing and IS amazing. The staff were super friendly and open to telling us more about all their goodies.
August 15 · Scarlett Rubi HernandezIt has been a few years since a new pastry shop has really impressed me. We are in a city that has spoiled us.Yet le dix-sept elevated the experience to a different level. The cannele was the perfect texture, the best l've had. The merengue was impossibly airy and light. The bread pudding had a great flavor. They also had a few gluten free items that my partner really loved.
