Macrina Bakery Introduce
Since opening its doors in 1993, Macrina Bakery has become an integral part of the culinary landscape in the Puget Sound region, starting with its original location in Belltown. The Macrina Bakery at the McGraw Street Cafe in Queen Anne has been a cherished neighborhood staple since 2001, transforming a former bakery space into a warm, Old-World inspired haven. Founded by Leslie Mackie, the bakery's philosophy centers on the mystique of bread, emphasizing a simple, self-sufficient life and the communion of sharing good food with the community, inspired by the 4th-century Greek mystic and visionary Macrina.
Macrina Bakery is not just a place to grab a quick bite; it's a celebration of artisan baking, where the soul and passion of the baker are evident in every loaf and pastry. They are committed to using available regional and indigenous ingredients, including Northwest apples, cranberries, and hazelnuts, as well as organic grains, to create their rustic European-style breads and baked goods. This commitment to quality and community has earned the bakery numerous accolades, including being named one of the top bakeries in the U.S. and the world by various publications.
For Washington residents, especially those in Seattle, Macrina represents a trusted source of high-quality, handcrafted food, offering a cozy and inviting space to meet, work, or simply enjoy a moment of culinary pleasure. The Queen Anne location continues this legacy, serving as a vital community gathering spot in this bustling, historic neighborhood.
The Macrina Bakery Queen Anne cafe is conveniently situated at 615 W McGraw St, Seattle, WA 98119, USA, right in the heart of the desirable Queen Anne neighborhood. The area is known for its steep streets, stunning architecture, and a lively mix of local shops and restaurants, making the bakery an ideal stop during a day exploring the area or on your daily commute.
The location’s position in a primarily residential neighborhood means it's a true local spot, with street parking typically available nearby, though visitors should be mindful of local parking restrictions. While some Macrina locations are known for having plenty of space, the Queen Anne cafe offers a cozy interior and typically includes outdoor seating options on the sidewalk for those sunny Seattle days.
Accessibility is prioritized for all patrons. The Queen Anne location features a Wheelchair Accessible Entrance, ensuring that everyone in the community can easily access their favorite artisan treats and coffee.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’m not sure how this place could be anything less than 5 stars! Amazing staff, FANTASTIC coffee and great food!! The ham and Gruyère pastry was my favorite. As well as the peanut butter cookie. Lots of space inside and outside the bakery. People catching up or doing work. Everything is good you can’t go wrong!
September 09 · MEGHAN CUMASmall but mighty. Great coffee. The cherry hand pie at this location was way too crumbly, falling apart in my hands as I bit it ..I would guess from too much shortening or lard. The nectarine upside down cake was better.I would rank the new MI location over this one on every level but as far as Queen Anne goes...a solid bakery stop.
July 31 · j spain GreeneFeel completely robbed.I bought three chocolate croissants, and as I was about to pay, a young lady told me the third one was offered because it was slightly damaged. I appreciated the gesture and thought it was a nice commercial move. But in the end, I was charged around $20 and realized I had actually paid for the damaged one.Even worse, when I opened the box, none of the croissants were fluffy; they were very hard, almost as if they were failed batches.I feel totally ripped off paying for that. It’s not professional, nor respectful toward customers.I definitely do not recommend this store.
April 26 · Abby BI love this place! Local bakery with space to sit and enjoy company with treats in hand. I recommend their bagels and breakfast sandwiches 100% Also perfect for lunch or just grabbing desserts.
April 18 · Emilie CuevasMacrina is my go-to when I want a sure thing for pastries and bread. Classics like the croissants sell out, so mornings are your friend. Coffee is solid, and locations feel bright and welcoming—easy for quick catch-ups. If you’re headed east, the Mercer Island café is a convenient stop right off I-90. Everything travels well; I often grab a loaf to elevate a simple dinner at home.
