Macrina Bakery & Cafe Introduce

The highly anticipated opening of the Macrina Bakery & Cafe on Mercer Island has quickly made it a celebrated destination, proving to be the local spot many residents were waiting for.
Categorized simply as a Bakery, this establishment's dedication to the craft goes far deeper than a single word suggests. Macrina is built on the philosophy of old-world village baking, using a long, slow fermentation process and focusing on the connection between bread and community. They actively work with local Washington sources, including certified organic and Salmon-Safe farms, and use heritage grains milled in the Skagit Valley. This commitment results in a product that is not only delicious but deeply rooted in the local food economy.
The cafe offers a vast selection beyond its famous artisan breads. Patrons can indulge in scratch-made pastries, hearty breakfast sandwiches, satisfying lunch options, and a full range of coffee and espresso drinks. Local reviews highlight the bustling atmosphere, great service, and spacious feel, making it a perfect gathering spot on Mercer Island for your morning pastry, a midday sandwich, or simply a great cup of coffee.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Despite several other recent new bakeries on Mercer Island, Macrina seems to be the place everyone has been waiting for and it’s been busy the few times I’ve been there. I love the outside tables, not loving the inside as much although it’s spacious and nice. Vast selection, good service. My breakfast BLT was delicious.
August 08 · Andreas MajewskiFood is good, but you can not modify or substitute anything (I was told everything comes to them pre-made). Service was fast, prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was great! Overall looking forward to coming back.
July 20 · L LGreat place to meet on Mercer Island. Plenty of parking and seating space, good variety of pastries, sweets, and lunchtime sandwiches.
July 26 · Richard SpragueGreat ambience, love the new addition to Mercer island. I love the marionberry biscuits, it didn’t look as good as I removed them but I could not resist getting one. It tasted stale and not fresh:( it was close to end of days t 530 but if you’re going to charge over $6 for something, it should taste good. Disappointed.
July 13 · J TAs many have said, once the dining room is full, the noise is shockingly loud. Wow, unpleasant! The food is decent, which is a God send on MI. The menu offerings are pretty limited and I suspect most everything is brought in from Seattle and not made from scratch there. I got a "carne" sandwich, which is actually chicken. Good, but overpriced. I grabbed to go a premade "carne" salad, which is described as marinated steak, but was actually more chicken. Either these guys are anti carne, or really pro chicken, not sure. The salad was good quality and was reasonably priced relative to what stuff costs these days, but the "carne" chicken was extremely modestly portioned. All and all, a decent addition for MI, good quality, meh value, great helpful cheerful staff, but assaultive accustics if you eat there
