Marantos Bakery Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Marantos Bakery is far more than just a place to buy bread; it is a true piece of Baltimore, Maryland’s rich history and culinary heritage. Proudly recognized as the city's oldest family-owned bakery, Marantos has been a reliable supplier of authentic, high-quality Italian baked goods since its founding in 1914. This incredible longevity—spanning over a century—speaks volumes about the consistent quality and deep customer loyalty the bakery has earned throughout the Maryland region.
The story began when brothers Frank and Salvatore Maranto, two immigrants from Sicily, established their business with the dedication to baking distinctive Italian Vienna Bread. They started by delivering their products door-to-door to Baltimore neighborhoods, a tradition of quality that has been carefully passed down through generations. Today, the bakery is renowned for specializing in

Local Maryland customers and businesses rely on Marantos for bread products that are consistent, reliable, and possess that unmistakable, traditional quality. As one customer noted, the bread features a perfect combination: "Flaky on outside and soft on inside. Same great quality for the 60 years I have eaten their bread." This commitment to tradition and excellence makes Marantos Bakery a cherished institution and the definitive source for classic Italian rolls and loaves in the area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Best bread ever! Consistent and reliable!! I'm so glad you're still around!
April 12 · Charlotte ThompsonThe very best Italian bread. Flaky on outside and soft on inside. Same great quality for the 60 years I have eaten their bread. Fortunate to have a wonderful local Italian bakery.
August 14 · Glenn EvansI work for a restaurant that orders bread from Maranto 3-4 times a week. We ran low on bread and had to make an emergency order. It was too late for them to deliver to us, but they were quick to offer their open door for me to come on down and pickup whatever I needed. When I arrived, I was concerned that I would have no idea where to go or to whom to speak with. But, as soon as the door opened, all those concerns stayed behind me. I was greeted by two hard working gentlemen cover in flour head to toe. They not only shook my hand and introduced themselves to me, they walked me to the office and introduced me to the people I needed to speak with. When I was waiting in the packaging area, a different worker offered to show me around and explain how it all works. I could not believe it. I’ve never seen so many hard working men and women working together in harmony and smiling so hard while they worked and bonded.Such a great feeling. All the more reason for any and all restaurants to cherish this old school work ethic.Cheers Maranto! Keep up the great work!!
