★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I've recently moved to the Albany Park neighborhood and this gem of a bakery is my go to for fresh baked bread! Ruby is so friendly every time I stop in. You can't go wrong with anything in there. I will be a loyal patron from now on.
July 13 · Fadi YassineIf I could give zero stars, I would. The customer service was disrespectful, the bread tasted like cardboard, and the environment was wildly unprofessional. One employee (Liz) in particular behaved inappropriately toward my husband—flirting openly and shamelessly despite knowing he was married. I’ve since learned this isn’t unusual behavior for her. Absolutely appalling. This place doesn’t just ruin your appetite—it might just try to ruin your marriage.
July 29 · María AlcalaThis is the 3rd time in a row where the quality is not there. No matter the time. Stale and poor quality. I love local places but for the price the food gotta be worth it. Threw away a handful of churros. No one in my house could eat them.
September 11 · Brandon FentressIrene is AMAZING. We went to her after she baked a delicious Tres leches for my birthday, and wanted to see if she could do a cake for our wedding.Irene made this process so much fun!! She brainstormed with us, shared a few ideas, and in the end, made a cake EXACTLY how we wanted. The cake was beautiful, and the most delicious wedding cake I ever tried.More important than her unquestionable abilities, it is how much she cares about her clients, community, and people.Irene became our friend, and we will never buy cake from anyone else!
September 22 · Reinaldo Caravellas FruchterMarkellos is my favorite place in Chicago! You cannot go wrong with anything in Markellos. Cheese danishes are amazing, the fresh bread comes out every 15 minutes and they're perfect for sandwiches, muffins are soft and light, and there's too much to choose from (which no one ever can complain about). Everything is fresh and hot and it's cheap! You will be lucky to have any pastries left by the time you get home. I highly recommend this place for anyone whether it's 5am or 5pm!
