★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Go for allll the carbs! This was suggested to me by a local and I’m so glad I went. Got a slice of pizza in the back and while it warmed, I had a chance to ask the staff about pastry and bread options. Settled on a sun-dried tomato and garlic loaf, a chocolate croissant me and cookies to bring home on the plane to my kids. It wasn’t too busy so the staff were patient and helpful with my selections. If you are in this area, put this on your list!
May 09 · KathrynEverything about this place is nice. When you walk in you get this old school NYC greeting. They allow you to shop the case and answer any questions you have. The food samples are very delicious. I samples vanilla and chocolate cookies but I listened to the many customers in the store (mostly above 60 on my visit) telling me what cookies to try and their favorites. It appears that Rose and Joe has touched the little pastry hearts of the community. The pastry case—immaculate, nice fresh made pies, cookies, and they do have some commercial items for sale. Highly recommend for the old school New York vibe.So why the 1-star?Well I’m a pastry chef and no fool I believe there’s a mix of commercial bought and store-made to complete the inventory (very suspicious as I’ve seen other very similar products in competing shops (and at the Serafina at the Italian Center in Stamford, CT) there’s a bulk order (or distributor) bakery for these little Italian specialties. Until I see otherwise, my opinion remains. These companies have a specific taste profile.I didn’t see any believable kitchen resources that would lead me to believe these products are made onsite.
September 02 · Chef Jean-Pierre DuqueroixI’m not the type to leave bad reviews but I’ve been to this place 2 times and it was enough. I had a slice of cheesecake a while ago and it was dry, felt like it was sitting there for a week. Then I was excited to see they have ice coffee and I went in to get a small ice coffee, the lady hands me a cup and she said I have to make it myself 😂. Should’ve been clear about that outside on your signs. Then I grabbed some cookies as a snack, they were dryer than my ex boyfriend!
June 17 · Ivette SanchezBeloved local spot! The bread is delicious and some of the cheapest good quality bread you can find. I highly recommend their cannolis, which they fill fresh upon request!
July 20 · K MI went for the $10 special for 8 Pisces. I want it All thighs I could not provide. But it's okay I understand it's a busy day for that special. They were nice however
