This establishment expertly combines the art of baking with the practicality of an international specialty retailer, identifying itself as both a premier Bakery and a dedicated Grocery store.
The core offering of this small business is its deep specialization in Persian goods. As noted by customers, Shater Abbass aims to provide "almost everything you need from Iran," including a variety of specialized foods and fruits. This makes it an essential resource for the Iranian-American community and for anyone in the Westwood area of Los Angeles looking to explore the rich flavors and pantry staples of Persian cuisine. Whether you are looking for freshly baked flatbreads unique to the region or seeking out specific spices and produce that are hard to source elsewhere, Shater Abbass positions itself as a centralized, convenient, and culturally rich marketplace. The business prides itself on its designation as a Small business, focusing on specialized inventory and personal service for its niche market.
Location and Accessibility in West Los Angeles
Shater Abbass Bakery & Market is ideally located in a bustling, prominent area of Los Angeles at 1437 Westwood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90024, USA. This address places it directly on Westwood Boulevard, a well-known thoroughfare that is a hub for business and ethnic commerce in West Los Angeles. The convenience of this location makes it a frequent stop for area residents and for those traveling to the area specifically for Persian products.
The business is designed to facilitate a Quick visit. For customers needing ease of entry, the market ensures physical accessibility by providing a Wheelchair accessible entrance. This commitment to accessibility is a crucial factor for many Los Angeles customers when choosing local businesses. While explicit details on parking are not provided, its Westwood Boulevard location implies accessibility via the surrounding network of streets and local transport, making a quick in-and-out visit practical for residents across the California region. The easy access and focus on specialized goods make the short trip to Westwood a worthwhile endeavor for specific culinary needs.
Core Services Offered at the Market
Shater Abbass Bakery & Market provides a streamlined and specialized range of services, focusing primarily on the provision of goods rather than extensive dining amenities, which suits its model as a specialized bakery and market.
The core service options and offerings include:
- Service Options: The primary method for receiving products is Takeout. This ensures customers can quickly acquire their fresh baked goods and specialized groceries without needing a prolonged in-store dining experience.
- Dual Role as Retailer: The business functions comprehensively as both a dedicated Bakery, providing fresh, possibly daily-baked products specific to Persian cuisine, and a full-service Grocery store for pantry and fresh goods.
- Product Specialization: The key service is the curation of Persian goods. This specialization allows customers to confidently shop for items that are integral to Iranian cooking and daily consumption, including specialized foods and fruits that are culturally important.
- Payment Convenience: For seamless and rapid transactions, the market accepts modern payment methods, including Debit cards and NFC mobile payments, facilitating a smooth checkout for a Quick visit.
- Commitment to Small Business: Operating as a certified Small business, Shater Abbass offers a focused selection and a potentially more personalized buying experience compared to larger corporate retailers.
Features and Unique Highlights
The most compelling feature of Shater Abbass Bakery & Market is its powerful niche specialization, which provides unique value to the Los Angeles community seeking authentic, hard-to-find international items.
Key features and highlights include:
- Comprehensive Collection of Persian Goods: The market’s inventory is a significant highlight. Customers praise the establishment for its "good collection of Persian goods," noting they "have almost everything you need from Iran." This broad, specialized inventory is the primary draw for the business.
- Dual Culinary Function: The combination of a dedicated, presumably specialized Bakery (offering fresh Iranian breads or pastries) with a comprehensive Grocery store means customers can fulfill both their immediate fresh food needs and their long-term pantry shopping in a single location.
- Supply of Specialized Produce: The mention of offering Iranian fruits specifically highlights its role in supplying perishable items that may be seasonal or not commonly stocked in general American grocery stores, providing a unique service to the community.
- Customer Experience Note: While the intention is to be factual, a notable highlight from a customer review indicated a serious issue with a product, specifically a mislabeled powder that was purchased instead of cardamon powder. This incident, whether due to unintentional error or mislabeling, serves as a point for the business to potentially review its quality control processes, and for customers to exercise due diligence, especially when purchasing specialized, non-prepackaged goods.
- Focus on Quick, Accessible Service: The provision of a Wheelchair accessible entrance and simple Takeout service, alongside mobile payment acceptance, shows a practical approach to modern, fast-paced retail.

This makes it an indispensable cultural resource, saving customers the time and effort of searching multiple locations for their cooking and dietary needs.
Furthermore, the value of the Dual Functionality as a fresh Bakery and a Grocery store cannot be overstated. Customers can purchase specialty spices, specific produce, and freshly baked goods simultaneously, making it highly efficient for a Quick visit.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A good collection of Persian goods. They have almost everything you need from Iran, including foods and fruits.
October 29 · Michael Mah (MIKE MAH)We had such a terrible experience with this shop; we supposedly bought the cardamon powder from this store (picture attached), but it turns out it was not cardamon!!! Maybe it was mislabeled, but how should we know? I am very disappointed by this dishonesty (either knowingly or unintentionally). I would have given a zero star if there was an option. They definitely lost my business and I would recommend shopping anything from them.
July 08 · Mahmoud ManouchehriAfter being a customer for about 2 years, I decided to stop shopping at this store due to the rude behavior of a new female cashier. Additionally, the store has a policy of not accepting credit cards for purchases under $10. The owner has a tendency to push customers to buy items they do not need and can be quite forceful about it. On one occasion, I was charged $19 for just two pomegranates, even though I had not intended to buy them. Despite my initial refusal, he continued to insist until I ultimately gave in. When I refused to buy unnecessary items on other occasions, the owner's attitude changed and he became disrespectful in front of other customers.I should not forget to mention that their pricing for some items is cheaper than the other Persian supermarket nearby!
April 21 · Ramin RajaeiWe were there to pick up some Persian groceries. We very politely asked the owner if he knew where few items were and he just went nuts. Started swearing and told us that we were there to steal things! We have never ever had someone treat us like that. Either the guy has some mental issues or don’t know what happened. Never ever going back this store.
December 01 · Dacks DarkoOh my god obsessed with this little market and the owner. He’s so sweet and well traveled and the prices are sooo competitive for this market. He had fresh figs! I haven’t even seen that in stores. Please support this small business.
