★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Cold, Nor’easter-y morning. Coffee is excellent. Everything is made from scratch and you can taste it. The vanilla bean scone is lovely. Bringing home a raspberry almond bar and a shortbread. Bonus: they have gluten free cookies from a separate facility that I’m bringing home for the fam.(The staff are friendly and welcoming too.)
May 23 · Alethea WaitMy favorite scone is the lemon poppy seed but I tried the vanilla one this time. The flavor was good but it was way too dry. Almost like day old. The brownies are very good and so are the blueberry muffins. The service was very good and I enjoyed my latte very much. I wanted to try everything in the case! They have a good amount of seating so it's a good place to sit and have a treat with your coffee!
July 04 · S. L. BartlettThe carrot cake birthday cake they made for my party of 12 was excellent with lots of raisins and carrots in it. Everyone at the party raved about the cream cheese icing too. They fit three names on the cake for me and decorated it beautifully. They were so pleasant and helpful on the phone. It’s the best cake I have had in a long time, everyone loved it and it was well worth the price. Thank you Shugah Hill Bakery!!!
May 03 · Jill MarcielloSigh.. Wanted to love this place, drove past on numerous occasions, and then we read the article about how the bakery came to be, which put Shugah Hill on my must visit list.My wife and I stopped in on an early Sunday afternoon, we opened the door to find we were the only customers, not only were we not greeted by the young lady working the counter but we also were not greeted by the smell of fresh baked goods. It was as quiet as a library, and the choices were not very summer themed.. But we chose to get a sampling. I really loved the concept behind this bakery, and we love supporting Mom & Pop or, in this case, Mom ×3 businesses. We got the order to go... there was a square 10x10 box, a smaller 6x6 box, and 2 cup cakes in plastic holders.. we had to ask for a bag... we were not offered one, maybe she likes jugglers?Anyway...We got a brownie, oddly texture was fudgy, flavor was unidentifiable, and lacked chocolate and salt. The seven layer bar texture was dry & crumbly, flavor was overly sweet but again no vanilla bean or salt, chocolate chip cookie, texture dry, no butter, salt or vanilla, oatmeal raisin, texture was chewy which was nice but the overall flavor was lackluster.. More cinnamon, please, the mini babka.. This was a highlight.. Although the texture was on the dry side ( could this be because of the case not being refridgerated???) the overall flavor was well balanced and delicious, the mini German apple cake was so pretty, texture was gummy, apples oddly chewy, flavor was OK. The best thing we ate, which we agreed we would go back for, were the cupcakes.. The vanilla flavor was slightly underwhelming, but the texture and crumb were perfection, but the butter cream frosting was next level.. The chocolate cupcake was 100% amazing.I hope this helps, I still love the concept. We will probably give it another shot. Good luck
July 20 · Rob CHANCHOLOWonderfully small café, with lots of beautiful baked goods! We love the blueberry cakes, the apple pie, the blueberry muffins, Cupcakes and any other kind of cakes they make, especially the raspberry cake. Wonderful atmosphere to sit and chat and have a cup of coffee, or lemonade.
