What is Worth Choosing at Sour & Dough Bakery
Choosing Sour & Dough Bakery means choosing an establishment deeply committed to authentic baking techniques and high-quality, specialty ingredients. For Fort Myers residents, the unique value proposition lies in the combination of artisan bread and sophisticated French-inspired pastries, backed by a full-service cafe operation.
The primary draw is, undoubtedly, their Artisan Bread Program. Unlike mass-produced bread, the sourdough loaves here are known for their distinct tangy flavor and highly digestible quality, resulting from the long, slow fermentation process. Customers can secure staple loaves like The Traditional Sourdough ($10.00) or indulge in savory square slices of Focaccia with toppings like Tomatoes, Burrata And Cherry Tomatoes By The Square ($9.50) or Onion And Cheese Focaccia By The Square ($8.00). The availability of items like The Starter ($40.00) is a clear indication of their passion and commitment to sharing the sourdough craft with the local community.
The Pastries and Sandwiches are equally compelling. The HAM AND CHEESE FRENCH CROISSANT ($12.90) is a popular choice, described as flaky and layered with succulent, hand-cut ham and imported Swiss cheese. For those seeking a sweet indulgence, the Cruffin With Creamy Filling ($7.00) offers an innovative texture, while the Pain Aux Chocolat ($7.50) delivers a classic French experience. The menu caters perfectly to both a sweet breakfast and a savory, gourmet lunch.
While some customers have reported minor initial challenges related to ordering systems, menu visibility, and seating management—issues common in new, burgeoning businesses with a high-demand, unique concept—the overwhelming sentiment remains highly positive toward the actual food quality. Customers consistently praise the "great concept" and the "delicious sourdough bread," reinforcing that the culinary talent is excellent. The management is continuously working to streamline the customer experience, ensuring the focus remains on the superb quality of their products, which is what Floridians are truly seeking.
Finally, the expansive specialty Coffee menu provides the perfect complement to their baked goods. Whether you choose a classic Latte ($6.50) or a unique Iced Matcha Latte ($7.50), the specialty coffee component is a key reason to choose this location. By focusing on authentic artisan bread, sophisticated pastries, and a welcoming cafe environment—including pet-friendly policies—Sour & Dough Bakery secures its spot as a must-visit destination in the Fort Myers food scene.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was really excited to try Sourdough Bakery, but my visit was a bit confusing. When I arrived, there were no menus or boards listing the available sandwiches, which made ordering difficult. The employee was kind enough to list the options for me, but due to a heavy accent, it was hard to understand, and I ended up just getting a ham sandwich. It felt strange to have to guess what was available. The seating situation was also a challenge. There were only a few small tables, and a large six-person table was occupied by one person on their laptop who hadn't ordered anything. As a paying customer, it was frustrating to see limited seating taken up by someone using the internet. We ended up in a slightly awkward couch area, which wasn't ideal for eating. This place has so much potential! The menu and seating issues seem like easy fixes that could greatly improve the customer experience. I wish them the best and hope they can work out the kinks because the concept is great.
August 28 · Amanda MartineCame to enjoy some fresh pastries and was baffled by the experience… and not in a good way. I never leave bad reviews but this had to have been one of my worst experiences at a bakery, this was our first time here so we asked the girl taking our order what the best specialty drinks they had were, she proceeded to look annoyed and told us everything they were out of instead so we decided to get a matcha latte which was $11 each and took forever to come out our food actually came before our drinks :/… we got a cinnamon roll which was so dry and cold I felt like I ate a spoon of cinnamon, probably the worst I ever had, the other pastry we had I can’t remember the name of it was decent but was cold and didn’t taste fresh at all. We also drove 45 minutes to try this place out and spent $35 for the worst breakfast of our lives. Will not be coming back
August 15 · Kyra MendozaCalling all coffee lovers! We were passing through and looking for a nice coffee spot and got much more. The place was phenomenal! The owner made the best coffee and put so much into it when making it. The knowledge he had shows you it’s more than just a business. His food also was phenomenal. You all need to stop and check this place out whether you are a local or a tourist. Definitely worth the stop.
May 26 · jennifer CThe cutest little place in an beautiful area. While the prices are higher you’re clearly paying for quality product. Employees were friendly and informative. We tried the strawberry matcha tiramisu latte Italian focaccia sandwich, the quiche caprese, pistachio roll and wild berry cruffin. Drinks were not overall sweet which was great! The sandwich was declious!
March 28 · Samantha KluverWhat can I say abierto this place that is better than Good200% positive experiencie!!!This is a real artisan BakeryYou can tell that when you go inside and see that giant oven and smell the bread. We he had 2 sándwiches that where not only fresh but real tasty.Croissant out of this world and also we had a superb and real Matcha with strawberry puré that was real sensationalThe only drawback is that you have to be a little patient but it’s understandable as this place is not a Starbuck franchise They take the time to deliver real good stuff.Nicely done.
