St. Honoré Bakery Thurman Introduce
For residents and visitors of Oregon seeking an authentic European culinary escape, look no further than St. Honoré Bakery Thurman in Portland's charming Northwest District. This establishment is not just a bakery; it's a genuine French boulangerie and viennoiserie that transports patrons straight to the streets of Paris or Provence. The bakery, which has been a mainstay since its original opening on Thurman Street in 2003, is the brainchild of Master Baker and owner Dominique Geulin, who has even been awarded the prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF) status in the boulangerie category—a high honor celebrating the country's best craftspeople. This commitment to traditional French artistry is evident in every hand-crafted item, from the perfectly structured baguettes to the famously flaky croissants and Kouign-Amann.
St. Honoré Bakery Thurman serves as a multifaceted destination, perfectly encompassing the roles of a French restaurant, breakfast and brunch spot, cafe, coffee shop, and cake/pastry shop. It offers a warm, inviting ambiance where you can savor everything from a quick morning coffee and pastry to a substantial lunch or a leisurely afternoon treat. The space itself is designed to feel open and inviting, often featuring large windows, beautiful French-inspired decor, and even a visible baking area, allowing customers to feel connected to the traditional baking process.
The bakery is named after Saint Honoré, the patron saint of bakers, underscoring its deep reverence for the craft. Locals consistently praise the authenticity and quality of the baked goods, often noting that the experience rivals what they've found while traveling in France. It is an ideal spot to break away from the daily grind and enjoy a moment of gourmet delight, whether you’re grabbing an item to-go or settling in to enjoy the cozy, rustic atmosphere.

For those craving something sweet, the dessert selection is top-tier, with items like the delicate Opéra ($8.50) cake and a variety of Macarons ($3.75 each).
Finally, choosing St. Honoré means choosing a memorable atmosphere. The bakery offers a cozy, inviting setting where you can truly slow down and enjoy your food. April 07 · Rosemari MartinezI travel to France every month and was missing it while spending time in Oregon so I searched for French bakeries. I was happy and surprised to find this one. It did have the air and menu of a boulangerie and viennoiserie. I enjoyed my latte and pain au chocolat while sitting outside. C’est bon.
August 07 · Claire JohnsonThis French bakery is a great spot with an amazing selection of pastries, including eclairs, fruit tarts, and freshly baked macarons. They also offer authentic French baguettes, a variety of bakery items, and an impressive selection of sandwiches and entrees.I tried their Croque Monsieur, a classic French style grilled ham and cheese sandwich and it was really good. It was a bit too cheesy for my taste, but the flavors were excellent and satisfying. The service was friendly and added to the positive experience.Parking can be a bit pricey, as you’ll need to find street parking, which costs about $2 per hour, so plan accordingly.Overall, it was a great experience, and I’m looking forward to trying their baguette sandwich on my next visit!
December 06 · Chul LeeWe were in the neighborhood, and my friend had never been here, so we stopped in to grab some pastries and a warm drink on this chilly day. It was late afternoon, and there still was a great selection of pastries to choose from. It's hard to make a decision so I bought four, as did my friend. I'll surprise my son and daughter in law with them later. Exceptional as always. And that St. Honre pastry is still out of this world delicious!
