The Bagel Nook Introduce
Introduction / Overview
New Jersey has a well-earned reputation for having some of the best bagels in the country, and The Bagel Nook in Aberdeen, NJ, is not just living up to that standard—it's actively pushing the boundaries of what a bagel can be. Located right in the heart of Monmouth County, this popular bagel shop has exploded onto the scene by offering creations that are anything but standard. They are known nationally for their inventive, indulgent, and highly Instagrammable bagel sandwiches, which they have dubbed "Overloads."
The Bagel Nook's mission, since opening their first location in Freehold in 2015, has been to revolutionize the bagel experience. They do this by combining traditionally chewy, fresh-baked New Jersey bagels with imaginative, micro-batch cream cheeses and an array of surprising toppings. Think Oreo bagels, Fruity Pebble bagels, and even seasonal pumpkin-shaped creations, all paired with "crazy cream cheese" flavors like Birthday Cake, Cookie Dough, and Nutella. These inventive combinations quickly caught the attention of national media outlets like BuzzFeed, The Today Show, and Food & Wine, making The Bagel Nook a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike seeking a unique breakfast or lunch experience.
The concept behind their famous "Overloads" is a creative twist on the classic bagel sandwich, taking a colorful or flavored bagel, slathering it with a generous portion of specialty cream cheese, and stuffing it with complementary treats like cookies, brownies, or fresh fruit. For those who prefer a more traditional start to their day, The Bagel Nook also offers all the classic bagel and deli options you would expect from a top-tier New Jersey shop, including a variety of plain bagels, traditional spreads, and hearty breakfast sandwiches featuring local favorites like pork roll.

Features / Highlights
The Bagel Nook's unique position in the New Jersey food scene is built on several distinctive features that set it apart from a standard neighborhood bagel shop:

What is Worth Choosing
For a New Jersey bagel enthusiast, The Bagel Nook offers a distinct choice that separates it from the competition. While a local customer is often in search of that perfectly chewy, crusty, and fresh bagel—a standard that The Bagel Nook is noted for meeting with its traditional options—the true draw is the adventure it provides. Customers who frequent the spot often highlight the exceptional texture of the bagels themselves and the freshness of the classic breakfast sandwiches, noting that staples like the bacon, egg, and cheese are never dry or "too dense."
If you are looking to treat yourself, or are introducing friends to an iconic Monmouth County food experience, you absolutely must explore the "Overloads." The Cookie Monster Overload, with an Oreo bagel, Cookie Monster cream cheese, and chocolate chip cookies, is a viral favorite and a quintessential Nook experience. It's a fun and filling treat that turns a simple breakfast into an event. It's an excellent choice for a weekend indulgence or a unique gift for a fellow food lover.
However, even if the specialty creations feel "too much," as some new visitors might initially think, the quality remains high across the board. The traditional bagels are praised for their chewiness and crust. A customer noted, "Bagels are nice and chewy with a good crust," affirming that the foundation of a great bagel shop is solid here. The specialty cream cheeses, while sometimes less sweet than expected in their dessert versions (a potential sign of less added sugar, as one customer observed), offer an interesting mix of flavors that pair perfectly with their unique bagel options. For those with savory preferences, the extensive selection of Deli Sandwiches and the incredibly satisfying Truck Sandwiches provide lunch options that are a welcome break from the usual deli fare. The Bagel Nook is worth choosing for the simple fact that it offers the best of both worlds: a quality New Jersey bagel base combined with a level of culinary creativity that makes every visit memorable.

Honestly worth the hype. If you order something bad, thats on you🤠The texture and fluffyness of the bagels are so good. The egg bacon and cheese are not dry and nothing feels too dense. The sweet cream cheeses are not that flavorful but thats probably a sign of less sugar.
August 18 · Lena K.Bagels are nice and chewy with a good crust. Price point is a bit high but the specialty bagel sandwiches are really filling. I wouldnt recommend it as your go-to breakfast joint if you're looking for a standard bagel or sandwich, but there's a lot of variety that makes it fun and a great place to try with friends.
March 16 · M LeeThe bagels here are fresh and taste great, but the service leaves much to be desired. The price on the screen menu for the avocado blast was $1 less than what I was rung up, and when I raised it, I was told they “charge extra for a different bagel chosen” But that was already a separate line item — the base charge itself was wrong. Since I got two, I was overcharged $2. When I asked about it, the server just looked at me like a deer in headlights instead of bringing over a manager. Then upon pick up when I asked to have my plain bagel sliced, I was told, “you didn’t ask for that when you paid, but I’ll do it.” Really? Great bagels, but very poor customer service. Watch out on prices!
September 13 · Tina K.Super dope place for bagels. They have many unique creations. Staff is friendly and service is pretty quick even for a busy spot on a Sunday morning. They have a lot of different specialty bagels and cream cheeses. I ended up with a pumpkin French toast bagel with apple pie cream cheese and a jalapeño cheddar bagel with scallion and bacon cream cheese. The pice point was high. But it was worth it to me to try it once. It was about $14-$15 for both bagels. I wouldn’t get the combos I did every time I go but I’d do it once in a while.
September 21 · Stanley MoyThere’s a lot of bagel places in the area. There’s nothing like this place! The bagel nook is our new go to breakfast spot!! My wife ordered the cheddar jalapeño bagel with pork egg cheese and hash brown Sandwich… amazing. I got the same thing but bacon cheddar ! The service is amazing and friendly.
