## What is Worth Choosing
When visiting The French Guys Bakery in University Village, the selection can be overwhelming due to the sheer variety of high-quality French items. For a truly rewarding local experience, focus on these top-tier recommendations:
The Hazelnut Croissant and Viennoiserie Section: If you can only choose one sweet item, you should make it the **Hazelnut Croissant**. This pastry is explicitly singled out by customers for being **delicious** and having an amazing smell due to its rich hazelnut filling. Generally, any item from the Viennoiserie section, including the **Almond Croissant** or the highly recommended **Kouign-Amann**, is a safe bet, as the quality and technique for these laminated doughs are considered incroyable (incredible).
The Baguette and Sourdough Bread: For those seeking authentic French essentials, purchasing one of the large bread loaves is a worthwhile investment. The Baguette Tradition is made in the traditional French style, perfect for dinner or slicing for appetizers. The **Sourdough Bread** is also highly praised, with its exceptional flavor reminding customers of rustic, high-quality baking.
Lunch and Savory Options for the Day: When looking for a satisfying meal, the **Sandwiches** are described as being fresh and delicious. The variety ranges from the classic Traditional Parisian Sandwich to more unique choices like the Brie & Pistachio Sandwich. Alternatively, the savory croissants, such as the Ham & Cheese Croissant or the Spinach Béchamel Croissant, offer a rich, flavorful, and elevated twist on standard bakery fare.
The Experience as a Whole: Ultimately, what is truly worth choosing is the experience of staying awhile. Grab a pastry, order a Lemonade, and take your laptop or a book upstairs to the quiet, comfortable second-floor seating. This combination—authentic French baking in a relaxed, beautiful, and accommodating atmosphere with **Wi-Fi**—transforms a simple visit into a delightful, local retreat. It’s the perfect spot to feel transported to a European café without leaving the Washington region.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I love this place. The pastries were delicious, I highly recommend the Hazelnut Croissant, it is filled with Hazelnut and the smell is amazing. The Baguettes are made using the French style, and I guess a bit of sourdough since the flavor reminded me ofntheir excellent Sourdough Rustic bread.I also recommend their Lemonade, it wasn't too sweet and I felt it was natural and fresh.Their Sandwiches felt fresh and delicious. There is a seating are on the second floor with old French style, it was very quite and comfortable to sit and work there, plus the view from the second floor into the bakery is nice. The owner and manager is a super nice guy as well, which is always a bonus.
June 10 · Moaid HathotSo happy this bakery has opened up in U Village as I’m a fan of their Cap Hill location. Went there this morning for the first time and wow what a beautiful space! They have a large outdoor patio area as well as seating inside on the main level and upstairs. Selection was amazing with so many types of croissants, sandwiches, other desserts and a big selection of bread by the loaf including baguettes and multigrain. I got three diff croissants because you know the quality of a bakery from their croissants- a pain au chocolat, an almond, and an almond chocolate (amazing combo!). All looked beautiful and tastes delicious. Flaky, buttery, great texture and incroyable. Will definitely be a regular visitor and try out their fabulous selection including drinks.
June 15 · Judy SFound another nice pastries shop here in Seattle. It’s just too many choices here. As it’s just two of us, we ordered the Cannelés, French Toast and Ham & Béchamel Cheese Croissant to try. Everything is great. Highly recommended.
September 01 · Stanley ChanCoffee is good — 4 starsHazelnut croissant is soft and cold — -2 stars. Although it looks flaky, it tastes as soft as a piece of bread can get. How is this croissant selling for $7.25. Seattle people have some standards please.
July 26 · Yiwen ZhuAbsolutely love this place! The French Guys Bakery is a gem at U Village ❤️ everything feels authentically French, from the perfectly flaky croissants to the cozy vibe. You can tell this is their passion . The ham and cheese croissant is my go-to and lemon meringue tarts but honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything in the case. Friendly staff, great coffee, and the kind of spot that makes you want to linger. After calling France home for four years, I love having a little slice of France right here in Seattle!
