The Mixing Bowl Bakery Introduce
In the vibrant, historic heart of Dallas's Oak Cliff neighborhood sits a true local institution: The Mixing Bowl Bakery. This is more than just a place to grab a sweet treat; it is a quintessential Texas bakery that has cemented itself as a neighborhood favorite, especially renowned for its two distinct specialties: beautifully crafted cakes for all occasions and some of the area's most beloved, authentic breakfast tacos. For Dallas locals, The Mixing Bowl is the definition of a community bakery—a welcoming spot where the scents of fresh-baked goods and sizzling breakfast fillings mingle perfectly.
While the core of the business is traditional baking, offering everything from fresh-made pastries and pan dulce to custom-designed celebration cakes, The Mixing Bowl has achieved unique local fame for its decidedly Texan breakfast offerings. Many long-time residents will tell you that the search for the best breakfast taco in Oak Cliff ends right here, where they serve up made-to-order tacos with consistently fluffy scrambled eggs, wrapped in soft flour tortillas that feel just like the ones your own family might have packed for a road trip.
The atmosphere itself speaks to its neighborhood roots. Customers often describe walking in and immediately feeling at home, surrounded by eclectic, comforting decor that evokes the feeling of an abuelita's well-loved kitchen. It is this authentic charm and dedication to fresh, comforting food—whether it’s a simple, perfect cookie or a complex, multi-tiered birthday cake—that keeps the community coming back. The Mixing Bowl Bakery embodies the spirit of a genuine neighborhood spot, built on quality ingredients and local tradition.
When it comes to cakes, the bakery’s reputation for fresh, delicious masterpieces is unwavering. As one customer noted after ordering their daughter's birthday cake, the custom creation—a combination of marble and strawberry tiers with strawberry filling—was an absolute "big hit" with "not a slice left." This feedback underscores the bakery’s commitment to not only making cakes look good but ensuring they are exceptionally delicious. The cakes here are consistently described as fresh, flavorful, and memorable, cementing The Mixing Bowl as a trusted choice for major family milestones across Dallas.
Whether you are starting your morning with a quick, satisfying breakfast taco, or you are planning a grand event requiring a show-stopping cake, The Mixing Bowl Bakery offers a delightful and authentic taste of Dallas's Oak Cliff flavor.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I love supporting small businesses and had high hopes since my fiancé remembered coming here when he was younger. We stopped by around 11:30 a.m., but when we got to the counter, the lady let us know that since they close at 12, the only tacos left were potato and bacon. The way it was said made us feel like we were inconveniencing them instead of being welcomed in.I completely understand closing early prep, but with 30 minutes still left, it would’ve been nice if the interaction felt friendlier or if there were at least a few more options. Customer service makes a big difference, and unfortunately this left a negative impression.
September 05 · Marie BonillaDelicious cakes! Always fresh!**update as of 5/20/23 I ordered my daughters birthday cake for her party and as always the cake was a big hit not a slice left! Bottom tier marble with strawberry filling and top tier strawberry with strawberry filling.

August 21 · Alicia SantosWhat a rude and bad attitude the lady that answers the phone has, what shitty attitude she has, I will not be ordering anything from such a rude and disrespectful place
August 04 · MikeMy wife purchased a cake last week from The Mixing Bowl for our daughters birthday. As it turned out, the cake appeared to be atleast 4-5 days old because it was not fresh, quite dried out & simply bad.I was dissapointed because we've purchased from them for years now, & this was highly unlike them.My wife placed an order for another cake with them for this weekend, but after I was made aware that my wife placed that order here, I called to cancel the order.I spoke with a lady there this afternoon and explained the situation, never did she apologize for the cruddy cake, but became a bit defensive & ultimately hung up!So much for "The Mixing Bowl". Our cakes purchased from them in the past range from $60 to $160.... no more here.I try to support local business, but I will now move my future cake orders to FIESTA.
