The Mochi Donut Shop Introduce
When it comes to unique and delightful dessert experiences in the Bay Area, few places match the fun and flavor of The Mochi Donut Shop. Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of the Inner Sunset in San Francisco, this sweet spot has quickly become a local favorite by offering a menu that perfectly blends traditional Japanese-inspired confectionery with modern street food favorites. It's more than just a donut shop; it’s a destination for anyone seeking that perfect chewy bite, a refreshing boba, or a satisfyingly savory Korean-style snack.
The appeal of the mochi donut lies in its distinctive texture. Unlike traditional American yeast or cake donuts, the mochi version is made with glutinous rice flour, resulting in a slightly crispy exterior and a wonderfully chewy, bouncy interior—often called the "pon de ring" style for its signature cluster of dough balls. The Mochi Donut Shop embraces this delightful texture, pairing it with an exciting array of contemporary flavors and glazes that keep locals coming back for more.
But this shop is not just about the sweets. It has carved out a unique niche by offering a diverse menu that caters to both sweet and savory cravings, making it an ideal stop for a full lunch, an afternoon pick-me-up, or an evening treat. The combination of chewy donuts, hearty Korean rice hotdogs, and a selection of popular boba drinks ensures there is something to satisfy every craving.
California's food scene thrives on innovation and fusion, and The Mochi Donut Shop is a stellar example of this spirit, bringing an exciting, international flavor profile right to a classic San Francisco neighborhood.
Location and Accessibility
The Mochi Donut Shop is conveniently located at 2126 Irving St, San Francisco, CA 94122, USA. What is Worth Choosing
When visiting The Mochi Donut Shop, California users are encouraged to explore the best of both worlds—sweet and savory—to get the full experience.
For a classic treat, the Mochi Donuts are a non-negotiable must-try. Many patrons consider the Ube flavor to be a standout, offering a distinct and creamy purple yam taste that is both sweet and subtly earthy. The Matcha flavor is also highly recommended for its authentic, non-overly-sweet green tea profile. If you are new to the experience, getting a Half Dozen assorted box allows you to sample a variety of daily offerings, ensuring you find a new favorite. Customer feedback emphasizes the perfect freshness and consistency of the dough, converting even those who were previously skeptical of mochi donuts.
To balance the sweetness, the Korean Rice Hotdogs offer a fantastic opportunity for savory indulgence. The Hot Cheetos Mozzarella hotdog is particularly popular, combining the satisfying stretch of cheese with a crispy, spicy crust. The Hot Cheetos and Potato options showcase the shop's willingness to experiment with textures and flavors, creating a truly memorable street food item. Pairing a savory hotdog with a sweet mochi donut and one of their highly-rated boba drinks, such as the creamy Ube Boba or the rich Brown Sugar boba, is the ideal way to enjoy the shop's diverse menu through one of their convenient combo sets.
In summary, The Mochi Donut Shop stands out as a unique culinary gem in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset. Whether you are craving the chewy delight of a fresh mochi donut, the spicy crunch of a Hot Cheetos rice hotdog, or a refreshing Ube boba, this establishment delivers quality, flavor, and a uniquely satisfying experience that keeps locals delighted. Make sure to stop by and experience this fusion phenomenon for yourself.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Lovely atmosphere. Great mochi donuts. I love the ube flavor. Matcha is good too.
August 20 · Mallika KhullarHonestly I'm not usually a fan of mochi donuts. I got a bunch as a gift to someone else, but ended up getting to try most of them. To my surprise, I ended up enjoying all of them and eating way more than I should. The freshness and consistency of the dough was just perfect, and the toppings are good and sweet but not just dumping out sugar to the point where it makes no sense. The guy who worked there was friendly too.
May 11 · Rohan HarrisonGreat owners and good products you might have had elsewhere and not known it.Just tried a new dessert (steamed Pandan coconut milk dessert) made with in-house squeezed Pandan palm leaf and coconut milk. They are delicious, light and not too sweet, easy to eat after a meal or just a tasty little treat.
August 27 · Will SThe mochi donuts and not just yummy but also pretty. Great for get together w adults and kids. The Korean hotdogs are also a nice treat, my kids love them.
August 15 · Norman SeetoOne day I was working with some friends and someone from the place invited us to try the donuts. This was a few days before the place opened and I want to say that the workers are nice, the place is clean and beautiful(perfect for the gram) and the donuts are delicious. I got to try a takoyaki donut but when I came back I didn't find one, I don't know if they are selling them or not. You can taste the quality and flavor in each one and they are chewy as they should be. I recommend this place. I know that they also have some savory snacks so for sure I will be coming back to try more things!
