What is Worth Choosing
For first-time visitors or loyal patrons alike, there are several items at Village Baking Co. - Oak Lawn that truly stand out and showcase the expertise of this French boulangerie. The unanimous crowd-pleaser is the Croissant, which provides the foundation of the bakery's reputation for flaky, buttery perfection. Many customers rave that the regular croissant is simply heavenly, and its variants, especially the Almond Croissant, are highly sought after, with some driving long distances just for this treat.
The Chocolate Kouign Amann is another essential choice. This pastry, often praised for its perfect balance of a crispy exterior and soft interior, is a truly indulgent experience. If you prefer savory options, the Bacon, Cheddar And Jalapeño Croissant is a popular favorite that perfectly blends rich, flaky French pastry with a touch of Texas heat. For a classic French meal, the Jambon Beurre, a traditional French sandwich filled with ham, provolone, and French butter on a demi-baguette, offers simple, satisfying quality.
Finally, no trip is complete without taking home one of their artisan loaves. The bakery's passion for turning simple ingredients into masterpieces is most evident in these core bread offerings.
Despite occasional notes on service consistency or pre-made sandwich preference, the overarching sentiment is that the quality and freshness of the baked items—the very core of a boulangerie—are consistently excellent. If you prioritize exceptional, authentic French pastries and bread, Village Baking Co. - Oak Lawn is undeniably worth choosing as your go-to Dallas bakery.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I walked in for my first time and was greeted but while looking around was never asked if I needed help or had any questions. The 2 staff members continued their personal conversation the entire time I was there which I find to be very unprofessional. Even while I am placing my order they continued their conversation and continued to do so all the way until I left. Although service was polite and smiling it wasn't personal and appeared to give little attention to the customer. I bought a ham and cheese baguette and it definitely needed more butter. I couldn't even taste it. The sandwiches are pre made and in my opinion this decreases the quality and freshness of the sandwich. I wouldn't get this again. I purchased a Chocolate kouign amann and this was divine. It was buttered perfectly, the chocolate was spot on and the pastry was flaky and very fresh. Absolutely loved it. Finally I bought a raspberry financier and this was also excellent. It was very soft and moist and the fruit tasted fresh.
August 27 · Travis BlankWe love the baked items here. We normally drive from Fort Worth just for their almond croissants. Today since we were in the area we decided to stop by. There was an employee with blue hair who did not have the best customer service skills and totally ruined our visit. Aside from this we can’t say anything bad about their baked items or coffee. It’s always good.
August 24 · Alma RodriguezThey CANNOT get you a cup of black drip coffee in under 5 minutes. Food is great. Atmosphere is great. Lattes are great but if you want plain black drip coffee (served in under 5 minutes from your order) go elsewhere or suffer greatly.
September 23 · Serena HicksA wonderful coffee shop with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating in a delightful space. Also a phenomenal bakery serving delicious quiche, croissants, pastries, sandwiches and lots of yummy treats. The people are so, so nice. We've been in Dallas for 2 weeks and just discovered them today. We will most certainly be back for coffee and goodies next time we're in town. And delightfully dog friendly!
April 20 · Richard Allen SullivanI saw Keith Lee’s post about Village Baking Co. and it immediately caught my attention. Their Dallas location was reason enough for me to clear my schedule and make the drive from Houston today, and I’m so glad I did.As soon as I walked in, I was met with a calm, beautiful atmosphere. Two women working up front greeted me right away. They were warm, bubbly, and knew their stuff. When I told them I drove in from Houston because of Keith’s post, they lit up, and honestly, so did I.I ordered the stuffed cranberry chicken salad croissant and also got their almond butter croissant. Both were fresh, full of flavor, and worth every mile of the drive. The manager even came out from the back to say hello. She was just as kind and welcoming as the rest of the team.Highly recommend. 10 out of 10 experience.
