watUlike Introduce
In the charming city of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, there's a small but mighty bakery that has quickly become a local favorite: watUlike. This isn't your average neighborhood bakeshop. It's a place that prides itself on creating a refined, rustic, and deeply homemade experience. From the moment you step inside, you can tell that every item is crafted with a passion for quality and a commitment to fresh, delicious ingredients. watUlike has gained a reputation for offering a delightful and ever-changing menu of baked goods, confections, and beverages that are a cut above the rest. It’s the kind of place that an Instagram referral from a New York establishment might lead you to, and once you’ve found it, you’ll be glad you did.
watUlike's philosophy is simple: quality over everything. This is evident in every bite, from their classic pastries to their inventive twists on traditional favorites. The bakery's menu changes weekly, so each visit brings a new opportunity to discover a delicious creation. While some might describe it as a small, "pickup and go" place, its impact on the local food scene is anything but small. The owners, a couple with roots in Brooklyn, New York, have brought a unique sense of craftsmanship and hospitality to Rhode Island. They are known for their kindness and willingness to let customers sample a taste, a gesture that immediately inspires trust and confidence in the quality of their products. It's a place where a taste of the crust is all it takes to sell you on an entire strudel. watUlike is a testament to the idea that a truly great bakery can make its mark through exceptional flavor and a commitment to its craft.
watUlike is nestled at 194 Hillside Ave in Pawtucket, RI 02860. Its location, a bit away from the main highway, gives it a cozy, hidden gem feel that is part of its charm. Despite being a small establishment, it is easily accessible for locals in Pawtucket and the surrounding areas. The bakery is a "pickup and go" spot, meaning it's perfect for a quick stop on your way to work, a special treat for a weekend morning, or an afternoon dessert run. While it might not be a sit-down cafe with extensive seating, the quality of the products more than makes up for its compact size. For parking, there is free street parking available right in front of the bakery, making it convenient for a quick visit without the hassle of a large parking lot. This makes it a great spot for couples grabbing breakfast or anyone looking for a fresh, high-quality treat on the fly.
watUlike focuses on a streamlined, high-quality experience, offering services that are designed for convenience and a focus on the product.
- Takeaway and In-Store Shopping: The primary service is in-store shopping where you can pick up a variety of freshly made baked goods. The "pickup and go" model ensures a quick and efficient experience, perfect for those with a busy schedule.
- Daily Baked Goods: The bakery’s menu rotates weekly, offering a fresh selection of country cakes, babkas, scones, muffins, cookies, breads, and more. This changing menu keeps the offerings exciting and gives you a reason to come back often to see what's new.
- Pantry Items: In addition to their freshly baked goods, watUlike also sells a selection of high-quality pantry items. This includes baking ingredients by the pound, as well as imported goods like Canadian maple syrup, Icelandic chocolate, British candy bars, and Italian salt.
- Specialty Beverages: The bakery offers a selection of hot and cold drinks, including coffee, tea, and a rich, traditional hot chocolate. The homemade whipped cream and marshmallows add a special touch to their beverages, making them a standout.
The unique features of watUlike are what truly set it apart in the Rhode Island bakery landscape. These highlights are what draw people in and turn first-time visitors into repeat customers.
- Exceptional Quality and Fresh Ingredients: A recurring theme in customer reviews is the outstanding quality of the ingredients used. As one European customer noted, the hot chocolate is a "real thick and flavorful" drink, a stark contrast to the watery alternatives often found elsewhere. The freshness of every item, from the strudels to the truffles, is consistently praised.
- Artisanal, Homemade Approach: Everything at watUlike feels like it’s been made with care and a personal touch. The "homemade" feel of the whip cream, marshmallows, and truffles gives the products a gourmet quality that is hard to find. This dedication to craftsmanship is evident in the depth of flavor and quality of everything they produce.
- Ever-Changing Menu: The weekly rotating menu is a major draw. This means there’s always something new to try, from a different type of coffee cake strudel to a unique flavor of truffle. This keeps the experience fresh and exciting for loyal customers.
- A Curated Selection of Imported Goods: The bakery doubles as a small specialty shop, offering a thoughtful selection of high-quality imported goods. This includes items like Icelandic chocolate and Canadian maple syrup, which adds another layer of unique appeal to the business.
- Warm and Friendly Service: The owners and staff are consistently described as kind, sweet, and welcoming. This friendly demeanor, combined with their willingness to offer samples, creates a comfortable and inviting atmosphere that makes every visit a pleasant experience.

Cute place, found through an Instagram referral from a place from NY. Away from the highway, super cozy location. It’s a pickup and go place, but totally worth the visit. Stopped by and tried the hot chocolate with homemade whip cream and marshmallows. Traditional hot chocolate with an added bonus. Tried the coffee cake strudel, they offered a taste of the crust. That was what sold me, anytime an owner is ready to let you try the flavor. It has to be delicious and it was. Picked up the homemade truffles, and the Madeline. It was all superb, the flavor and quality. Glad they don’t have a sit down, would have ended up trying a little bit more and adding a few more pounds to the waist lines. Worth the visit, Saturday morning couples for breakfast or afternoon desert. Love the fresh taste and quality ingredients. It’s pricey as mentioned in another post. But quality is never cheap. So worth the occasional treat
November 24 · Christian RodriguezIt might look like a tiny bakery as many. Even the look of the pastry might seem like many. But when you taste it, you can tell it's made with really good and quality ingredients. As an European, it's one of the few places in the US where I could get a real thick and flavorful hot chocolate, istead of the usual water with some cocoa powder. Everything was really good and fresh. I'll come back.
July 12 · Alberto CaligianaWe have been wanting to visit watUlike for sometime now. We finally stopped in this morning and we are so glad we did! We purchased a variety of delicious cookies, muffins and this absolutely delicious cheese and pepperoni puff. The owners are very kind, warm, and personable. It’s clear that the owners put so much love into creating all the delicious baked goods. As soon as you walk in, the wonderful scent of freshly baked goods makes you not want to leave! Thanks for bringing an adorable little gourmet shop into the neighborhood! We will see you soon again❤️

May 24 · Nicole NavarroI've been multiple times and will continue to come back! There is always a great combination of sweet desserts and savory breads for sale. And the flavors chosen are always something special you don't see everywhere else with quality ingredients. Perk: the owners are great to talk to.
