For locals across Long Island and the wider New York region, A&S Bagels isn't just a bakery; it's a fundamental part of the community's culinary landscape, renowned for delivering fresh, chewy bagels around the clock. The consistent long lines, even with an on-site ATM, are a testament to its enduring popularity and the quality it unfailingly provides. Whether you're an early bird craving a warm bagel and coffee, a night owl in need of a late-night snack, or planning a weekend brunch for friends and family, A&S Bagels is the go-to spot. This unassuming yet highly efficient establishment combines the timeless art of bagel making with modern convenience, offering a vast selection of spreads, deli meats, and other bakery delights. This comprehensive overview will delve into what makes A&S Bagels an indispensable part of the New York experience, highlighting its unique accessibility, extensive offerings, and the features that solidify its reputation as a beloved local gem.
A&S Bagels is perfectly situated at 761 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square, NY 11010. This strategic location places it on a major thoroughfare in Long Island, ensuring remarkable accessibility for residents of Franklin Square and neighboring communities. Hempstead Turnpike is a well-known and heavily trafficked route, making the bakery easy to find and reach for those traveling by car. For New Yorkers relying on public transportation, various Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) bus routes service Hempstead Turnpike, with stops conveniently located within walking distance of the bakery. While direct subway access is not available in Franklin Square, the extensive bus network connects to Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) stations, providing broader regional access for those willing to transfer. Parking can be a common concern in busy areas, and while customer reviews mention that "parking sucks," implying it can be challenging, many find a way to manage, often due to the high demand for their products. Despite this, the convenience of a 24-hour operation on a main road significantly outweighs any minor parking inconveniences for their loyal customer base. The bakery's prominent position ensures it remains a central and highly convenient stop for grabbing fresh bagels at any hour, day or night.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A & S Bagels is a bagel lover’s paradise—and the long lines at the cashiers and even an on-site ATM are a testament to its popularity. This unassuming spot combines efficiency with quality, making it a go-to for locals and bagel enthusiasts alike. We pre-ordered three dozen assorted bagels by phone, ensuring a seamless pick-up experience. The bagels were fresh, chewy, and had that perfect New York-style texture that only a seasoned bagel maker can achieve. Alongside, we grabbed their cream cheese and cream cheese with lox, both of which were creamy, flavorful, and rich—an absolute treat. The lox was particularly fresh and perfect for our friend, who’s a fan of its briny, smoky goodness. The deli counter is well-stocked with premium Boar’s Head products, and their shelves are filled with everything from spreads to beverages, making it easy to build the perfect bagel spread. Plus, the festive decor and friendly staff made the visit feel warm and welcoming. If you’re in the area, A & S Bagels is worth the stop, whether you’re stocking up for an event or craving a classic bagel and schmear. Pro tip: Call ahead if you’re ordering in bulk—it’s worth the time-saving convenience!
November 30 · Tita Friday PHOpen 24 hours! best bagels in Long Island that I’ve had , always fresh no matter what time you go. Prices are reasonable . Cash only tho and parking sucks .
April 15 · rawaa atshanThe lox and cream cheese on Bialy was fresh and well prepared. Great service. The lady who assisted us in getting everything done did a great job. All the counter employees were terrific. It was such a clean place. It looked great from the outside, and when I stepped foot inside, I liked it more because everything was so organized and easy to see and buy. They prepared a few fresh cream cheeses for customers and placed them in a fridge. I grabbed the cinnamon raisins and walnuts, and Hubby grabbed salmon and cream cheese from the refrigerator. Then we ordered a few bialys. We didn’t just grab and go, but we paid for them, of course lol. I highly recommend the place for the cinnamon raisin walnut cream cheese. They made the best at this place. I also liked the spinach pie. The salmon cream cheese I could do without.
July 04 · NoraFor a 24 hour Bagel spot which is the rarest thing to ever encounter, their bagels are better than the nonsense AM Bagels in Derby, Connecticut puts out.So far the Bialys is about the biggest ones I've ever had.9.4 out of 10. Looking forward to more OVERNIGHT visits.
May 21 · Daniel AlbertyI am so extremely disappointed in A&S Bagel. My husband traveled from North Carolina to Long Island on personal business. As always we stop by and bring bagels by the dozen to bring back to North Carolina. My husband ordered on Friday May 1st and paid for 3 dozen bagels ($46.80) to be picked up early Sunday morning May 4th. Unfortunately my husband had forgotten to pick up the bagels before traveling back home. I called A&S Bagels immediately when he didn't have the bagels with him. I was hoping that they can ship the bagels down to us, I was willing to pay the shipping charge. I spoke with a women on the phone and she said she needed to check with her manager. She called me back and told me they can not ship the bagels. They didn't offer me the refund on the bagels, even though we paid in advance for them and never picked them up. I will never ever buy another bagel or anything else from them when we go up to Long Island and I will spread the word of how how their customer service sucks and how they cheat people. My first phone call tomorrow morning will be the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint.Marilyn SandersNorth Carolina Shores.
