Flushing is a major transportation hub, making it convenient for New Yorkers from various parts of the city to visit. The 7 subway line, a primary transit artery, connects Flushing to Midtown Manhattan and other key areas of Queens, with the Flushing-Main Street station being a significant transfer point. From the station, the bakery is reachable via a short bus ride or a reasonable walk, allowing for easy access for those relying on public transportation. Numerous MTA bus routes also serve the 104th Street area, further enhancing its accessibility. For those driving, while street parking can be a challenge in New York City, there are often metered spots and parking garages available in the broader Flushing area, though planning ahead is always recommended. Bakery Boys of New York primarily focuses on baked goods, with a notable emphasis on cookies. Their offerings, as gathered from customer feedback, highlight specific types of treats:
- Shortbread Cookies: This appears to be a signature item, recognized for a specific texture and sweetness level that differentiates them from more conventional, intensely sweet cookies. They are often described as having a "bakery quality" that prioritizes a refined taste over excessive sugar.
- Swiss Raspberry Chocolate Dipped Cookies: A particular variety of their cookies that combines the richness of chocolate with the tartness of raspberry, often dipped for an enhanced flavor profile. These have appeared in different regions, suggesting a broader distribution.
- Powdered Cookies: Another distinct type of cookie offered, likely dusted with powdered sugar, contributing to a unique taste and texture experience.
While the available information specifically mentions cookies, it is common for bakeries to offer a range of other items such as pastries or coffee, though for Bakery Boys of New York, the focus clearly gravitates towards their cookie selection.
Bakery Boys of New York possesses several distinctive features and highlights that set it apart in the bustling New York bakery scene:
- Distinctive Sweetness Profile: A significant highlight, and one that sparks discussion among customers, is their approach to sweetness. Their shortbread cookies are specifically noted for not being "tooth rotting sweet," positioning them as a choice for those who prefer a less sugary, more subtle flavor profile in their baked goods. This suggests a focus on the natural flavors of the ingredients rather than relying heavily on added sugars.
- "Bakery Quality" Shortbread: The term "bakery quality" is used by patrons to describe their shortbread cookies, implying a higher standard of production and a more refined taste than mass-produced alternatives. This speaks to a dedication to traditional baking methods and ingredients.
- Specialty Cookie Varieties: The mention of Swiss raspberry chocolate dipped cookies and powdered cookies indicates a diverse range within their cookie offerings, providing options for different preferences and showcasing some creativity in their recipes.
- Commitment to Quality (when ideal): While some reviews touch on inconsistencies, the positive feedback points to instances where the cookies are praised for being soft and flavorful, highlighting their potential for excellent output when baked correctly. This suggests a foundational quality in their recipes and ingredients.
- Local Presence in Flushing: Being located in Flushing allows Bakery Boys of New York to serve a vibrant and diverse community directly, offering a specialized product that caters to a specific local demand for certain types of baked goods.

This approach makes it particularly suitable for locals who are weary of overly sweet, mass-produced desserts and are actively seeking out "bakery quality" shortbread and other distinct cookie varieties.

May 08 · Therese GangiTo everyone complaining that the cookies have zero sugar THEY ARNT MEANT TO BE TOOTH ROTTING SWEET, THESE ARE BAKERY QUALITY SHORTBREAD COOKIES, not processed sugar filled mass produced crap cookies. Now that these Swiss raspberry chocolate dipped cookies and the powdered ones are appearing in a North Carolina, it would be great if your company would stop sending them out BURNT. They are really really not good burnt. They’re stale, dry and gross when over cooked! One week I can get them cooked normally the next they’re dark brown and dry as a saltine cracker. Please stop OVERCOOKING the cookies!
March 15 · CleverTeaPotThe lady that works there has a horrible attitude every time you go in. The bread is good, but honestly, I always end up leaving because she is so rude and its not one time but always. Hopefully they get someone that can at pretend to like their job.

April 13 · Cindy SinxI bought some of their cookies in FL at an Italian deli. The cookies were fresh and nice looking but they had zero flavor. A little butter in them would make them taste better. Bland for sure.
