Barley Time Introduce
In the vibrant and competitive landscape of Brooklyn, where bakeries abound, finding a new spot to explore is part of the local experience. Barley Time, located on 7th Avenue, is one of those places that captures attention with a full bakery glass case and a promise of "tons of interesting pastries." The decor is described as "nice and spacious," creating an inviting environment for patrons to browse the extensive selection. In a neighborhood with no shortage of bakeries, the call to "explore and try each one" is a common sentiment, and Barley Time certainly offers enough visual appeal to warrant a visit. The bakery seems to be a place of contrasts, with some customers finding a pastry they genuinely enjoy, while others encounter significant issues. This is a common theme in a busy city like New York, where experiences can vary greatly. The wide array of products, from sweet pastries to various boba tea flavors, suggests a business that is trying to cater to a broad audience. It's a place where you can find a variety of items to satisfy different cravings, and the stocked display case is a definite highlight for those who appreciate a good visual spread of options. The sheer number of choices, combined with a seemingly pleasant physical space, makes it an intriguing spot to visit for anyone in the area looking for a new culinary adventure.
While the bakery has a promising appearance and a well-stocked display, the customer experience can be inconsistent. One customer noted that the pastry they tried was "good," but another had a significantly negative experience, specifically with the "Orleans Chicken" item. This particular review highlighted issues with stale bread and undercooked chicken, raising serious concerns about food safety and quality control. The review also mentioned issues with a lack of flavor in the bread and an unheated display case, which caused products to go stale quickly. Additionally, the boba tea was described as having a sour taste, suggesting potential problems with preparation. These contrasting accounts illustrate the importance of managing expectations when visiting a new establishment. While the bakery offers a "pretty spacious" and well-decorated interior, the core products may not always meet the expected standards. This highlights the reality of the food scene in a large city, where finding a truly consistent bakery can be a challenge. For those who are willing to explore and perhaps stick to simpler baked goods, the visual appeal and variety of Barley Time might still be a draw. However, the feedback serves as a cautionary note for those with higher expectations for both food quality and service. The business seems to have a clear opportunity to improve its consistency and customer service to match its attractive decor and wide selection.
Barley Time is conveniently located at 5821 7th Ave in Brooklyn. This address places it in a bustling commercial hub that is highly accessible to the local community and beyond. It is also within a reasonable distance from the 8th Avenue subway station, which is served by the N train, providing a convenient trip for people from various parts of Brooklyn and other boroughs. The ease of getting there, coupled with the initial visual promise of a "stocked well" glass case, is a powerful combination that attracts curious customers. However, the feedback also suggests that the bakery's location in a high-traffic area might not be enough to overcome issues with product quality and service. For locals, a good location is a starting point, but consistent excellence is what truly builds a loyal following. The accessibility of Barley Time is a major asset, but it also means that its performance is under constant scrutiny from a discerning public. This strategic location and wide selection ensure that it is a part of the local conversation, for better or for worse. The easy-to-find location is a major benefit, but the quality of the experience inside will ultimately determine its success in this competitive market.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1DO NOT ORDER ANY OF THEIR MEAT PRODUCTS. 2 weeks go I went to get one of their items, the Orleans Chicken, (Chicken leg with bread surrounding it) and it was pretty disappointing, it looked good but the bread was stale and had no flavor to it, but I did not mind it since I had yet to try the chicken. As soon as I took a bite of the chicken, I tasted blood. I thought I had cut my mouth or something and quickly looked at myself on my phones camera and I wasn't, so I took a look at the chicken, and I saw the chicken was pink and raw and still had chicken BLOOD in it. I thought I may have been a bad day for them and decided it was a one time occurrence. I came back a week later and the same thing happened. Another week later, same thing. It was only this time that I finally took pictures and wrote a review, I know it was kinda of dumb of me to have bought it again but I decided to give them chances, I guess I was wrong every single time. So, I tried their other products, not only the meat products, and every single other bread item was stale, literally biting into plastic. You may think, oh it was probably because you left it out for too long, but I had it in the store and I ate it roughly 2 minutes after I picked it off the shelf. But that shouldn't happen considering that they have heated lights, right? Nope, the "heated lights" did not do a single thing, I even tested it and it wasn't even warm, it was room temperature, causing all the products to go stale around 2pm. None of this should be happening if they are a recognized bakery. Also, the item they advertise the most, the boba, is horrid, the boba tasted as if they cooked it for 2 minutes max and then couldn't wait any longer for cooked boba and put it in your drink.Below I added pictures of the raw chicken, I wrapped it in plastic wrap since the blood got on my table. This place is insane, I can not believe they are serving RAW CHICKEN. I am surprised the local food department has not been to this store yet.
February 05 · Rihana LinPretty spacious nice decor the bakery glass was stocked well when I went. Tons of interesting pastries. There's tons of bakeries in this area it doesn't hurt to explore and try each one. The pastry I got was good.
May 03 · Aries LawI decided to try this place after my friend recommendation . But I was disappointed the minute I walked in, the shelf was near empty after the store opened . My husband felt the bread is cold and hard maybe they were leftover from the day before. He asked the staff if they have any fresh warm bread . The staff answered “ we only serve cold bread , how can I bag the bread if it is hot “We were very disappointed with her reply and attitude. We left the store without any purchase .I won’t return to this store again after reading many negative reviews .
February 25 · GAGA GVery disappointing. Ordered a custom fresh strawberry cake for my daughter’s bday. It was super pricey ($85 for an 8” cake), and there were barely any strawberries! I’ve never seen a cake more pathetic. Granted it looked pretty but frankly not worth $85 since it was all just cheap foam or plastic materials you can add on top yourself. I gave them a chance to reply on Instagram but they chose to ignore my message. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else for your cake needs.
