Bober Tea & Mochi Dough Dinkytown Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For Minnesotans, particularly those around the University of Minnesota campus and the greater Twin Cities area, Bober Tea & Mochi Dough Dinkytown represents a vibrant, modern, and exciting twist on the traditional sweet shop. This is not just a standard donut shop; it’s a destination that perfectly blends two of the most popular Asian dessert trends: the wonderfully unique texture of mochi donuts and a high-quality, diverse selection of bubble tea. The atmosphere here is purposefully "casual," "warm and inviting," and often described as having a "cozy yet modern vibe," making it an ideal gathering place for students, friends, and anyone craving a fun, unforgettable treat.
The core of their appeal lies in the signature Mochi Doughnuts. Made with rice flour instead of traditional wheat flour, these Japanese-inspired donuts are celebrated for their fantastic "chewy inside" and "crispy outer layer"—a textural contrast that customers find "simply irresistible." Paired with this is an equally "impressive" bubble tea selection, which features high-quality ingredients and customizable options. The shop thrives on innovation, constantly rotating its donut flavors to ensure there’s "always something new to try," which encourages frequent returns. Located right in the buzzing Dinkytown neighborhood, Bober Tea & Mochi Dough has firmly established itself as an "absolute gem" for both "bubble tea enthusiasts" and general "dessert lovers" across Minnesota.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is a fantastic spot for bubble tea lovers and those craving unique, chewy mochi donuts! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a cozy yet modern vibe that makes it a perfect place to hang out with friends or enjoy a quiet treat. The bubble tea selection is truly impressive, featuring high-quality ingredients and customizable sweetness levels. Their signature drinks, like Brown Sugar Fresh Milk—my absolute favorite—are rich and full of flavor. I personally love adding grass jelly instead of boba, it’s fresh, soft, and adds the perfect texture to my drink! Now, let’s talk about the mochi doughnuts, they are a must-try! The contrast between the crispy outer layer and the soft, chewy inside is simply irresistible. Gosh, I really love them! With rotating flavors, there’s always something new to try. My favorites so far are Taro, Black Sesame, and Strawberry Shortcake, but I can’t wait to taste their new flavors every week!😆The service is friendly and efficient, and even though this place is always buzzing with customers, the wait times are totally reasonable. Whether you’re a bubble tea enthusiast or a dessert lover, Bober Tea & Mochi Dough is an absolute gem. Highly recommended!Honestly, I feel like I just completely failed my diet because of this place… but it was so worth it! 😆[Will keep updating the photos of new different flavors as I usually visit every week] 😆
August 19 · Susan ThinkSuper cute little place. Wish it had smaller options for the drink size other than large. Had a lot of ice in it, though I probably could have asked for no ice. Straws are really large too.
May 08 · Panou HangOk I really wanted to like my drink from this place because I had head excellent reviews.... I ordered a Brown Sugar Cookies and Cream with Stir Fried boba and crushed Oreo cookies. Can someone please tell me why the "boba" is star shaped and NOT what I asked for? Thinking someone messed my order up. 😞 There are star shaped somethings in my drink that are more like jellies than boba pearls. I'm wondering if she made my drink wrong because it doesn't look right nor do the star thingies taste like boba. See photos! I would like a refund! Won't be returning. Which is a shame cause I absolutely love boba tea.
July 18 · Alicia FosterI went here yesterday near closing and ordered a brown sugar Boba with less ice. When my drink was made, the cup was completely filled with ice. I politely reminded the worker that I asked for less ice.Instead of remaking the drink, the worker quickly used kitchen tongs to remove the ice, threw it away, and poured the drink — but didn’t add any Boba at all. The cup filled instantly because of the amount of ice, leaving me with far less drink than what I paid for.The worker’s attitude during the interaction came across as very rude, and the whole experience felt unprofessional. The next morning, I woke up with a sore throat, which I haven’t had in a very long time. I can’t say for sure if it’s connected, but this visit left a bad impression.I won’t be returning.
August 14 · Makayla CutieeeEveryone is super friendly and lightning quick service. The donuts are amazing. I love the consistency/texture of them. Mochi is my favorite confection so it's awesome to have it in donut form. I've read other reviews comment on the sweetness level of the drinks. There is an option to choose the sweetness level when you order. I'm not sure if that's new or if other folks missed it. I had the pandan and hazelnut at 50% sweetness and it was pretty good but I'll probably get 75% next time. I would say 50% would be like slightly watered down sweetened iced tea. I think it's great that they have an option for customers to choose the sweetness level. I also love that they have rotating flavors for the donuts. I'm glad I don't live too close or I'd be going here all the time!
