Boulted Bread Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For North Carolina residents who appreciate the true artistry of bread, Boulted Bread stands out as a truly exceptional, must-visit local establishment in Raleigh. More than just a traditional bakery, Boulted Bread is a stone mill and craft bakery that commits entirely to quality, flavor, and tradition. Located conveniently on Dupont Circle, this beloved spot has cultivated a passionate local following, becoming a cornerstone of Raleigh’s artisan food scene.
The founding ethos of Boulted Bread is rooted in a commitment to using the freshest and most flavorful ingredients possible. They achieve this by stone milling a significant portion of their flour in-house every day, using organic and heirloom grains. This visible, dedicated process—where the mill itself is often on display for customers to see—is what sets them apart and infuses their loaves and pastries with an unparalleled depth of flavor and nutrition.
Patrons are consistently delighted by their world-class breads and baked goods, which are made with a long, natural fermentation process and gentle dough handling. Though the bakery's popularity, particularly on weekends, often leads to a line out the door, local users agree that the delicious treats, the truly lovely and welcoming staff, and the overall quality are undeniably worth the wait. It’s a testament to the bakery’s unwavering quality and its successful mission to showcase high-quality ingredients through excellent technique.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I feel so fortunate to live locally to Boulted Bread, it’s one of my favorite places.their treats are delicious and made fresh, their staff are lovely and welcoming, and the coffee is always great.be prepared for a line in the morning on weekends (it’s worth the wait). if you get there a little later in the morning, you’ll be able to get the focaccia which has a different flavor each week and always hits the spot.
June 04 · Grace HallThere may be a better bakery in Raleigh. But I sure haven’t found it!Fantastic bread, pastries, baguettes, you name it. Morning Buns are world class!A truly exceptional spot.
April 27 · Charlie ByrneI really need you to ship to us :) we visited yesterday for the first time. My daughter and I were visiting colleges. We shared a chocolate croissant and the spinach and onion focaccia. Amazing is an understatement! We also got a couple coffees and they were also delicious! We live about 3 hours away so it’s not crazy far BUT I wish I could come there every weekend! The staff was also very friendly and welcoming.
April 25 · Allison WyantLovely little place! Me and my friends got some super yummy baked goods. I personally didn’t get anything to drink but my friends got a cappuccino and a matcha raspberry Tonic, which I thought was super creative and yummy. Definitely going to come back to try more :)
July 15 · Jamie BondHands down to one of the best bakeries I've been able to try in the US. Everything was well balanced, not too sweet, nor greasy. Nice Textures overall with some clever ingredients combinations. Everything I've tried was tasteful, including the egg tarts (and I was surprised to find them here).I'll definitely have to come back.
