Cake Bar (by Gate D3) Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For Texas travelers rushing through DFW International Airport, finding a true taste of home or a moment of authentic indulgence can be a challenging task. That's where Cake Bar (by Gate D3) steps in. Identified as a dedicated Cake shop, this airport location brings the beloved traditional, Southern-style bakery experience to the bustling environment of Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. It serves as an essential pit stop for anyone needing a slice of comfort, a premium coffee, or a quick, quality breakfast before a flight.
The original Dallas-based Cake Bar, founded by long-time baker Tracy German, has earned a reputation for crafting "cakes you grew up with"—made from scratch with fresh ingredients like eggs and butter, and notably without preservatives or shortenings. The DFW location carries this tradition, ensuring that even a traveler is getting a high-quality confection. They are particularly famous for their diverse selection of cake flavors, which often includes up to 16 different scratch-made varieties available daily at their main locations, and a curated selection of the most popular slices at the airport stand.
Beyond the decadent Southern cakes, the DFW outpost is also recognized for its focus on quality beverages. For coffee aficionados, one of the major highlights is that the shop features Counter Culture Coffee, offering a distinctly better, high-quality alternative to the ubiquitous corporate chains. This commitment to both gourmet sweets and premium drinks makes Cake Bar a valuable find for any Texas local or visitor passing through the DFW terminals.

Cake Bar (by Gate D3) is strategically located within one of Texas’s largest and busiest transportation hubs: Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). As an essential amenity in a major international airport, accessibility is well-managed to accommodate all travelers. The location features:

Features / Highlights
What makes Cake Bar (by Gate D3) a noteworthy destination for Texas travelers is the unique combination of high-quality baking and thoughtful airport convenience.
- Authentic Southern-Style Cakes: The core appeal lies in the traditional, made-from-scratch cakes. Customer reviews frequently praise the cakes for being moist, rich, and tasting "just like family's recipes," highlighting favorites such as Carrot Cake with cream cheese icing and the decadent Dark Rich Chocolate Cake.

What is worth choosing
For anyone traveling through DFW, choosing Cake Bar is about prioritizing quality and authentic Southern flavor over generic convenience. The single most compelling reason to choose this spot is to try one of their signature cake slices.
If you are new to the brand, start with the most popular flavors. The Strawberry Cake is widely considered their number-one seller, a moist cake layered with fresh strawberry filling and smooth frosting. Alternatively, embrace a true Southern tradition with a slice of the Hummingbird Cake, praised for its complexity, featuring banana, pineapple, pecans, and a hint of cinnamon, all complemented by a rich cream cheese frosting.
Beyond the cake, if you are a traveler with a high standard for your morning or mid-day caffeine fix, you should specifically visit Cake Bar for their Counter Culture Coffee offerings. Skipping the major corporate coffee chain to enjoy a truly "much better cup of coffee," as noted by one customer, is a small but significant upgrade to any airport experience.
Finally, the selection of fresh, non-cake baked goods is also worth exploring for a lighter bite. Options like the Raspberry Croissant or Maple Pecan Plait serve as excellent accompaniments to their espresso drinks, providing a quick, satisfying, and high-quality start to your travel day. While a few customer reviews indicate that service can sometimes be inconsistent—a challenge common in high-pressure airport settings—the majority of the feedback centers on the exceptional quality of the scratch-made food, which remains the primary draw and is ultimately what makes Cake Bar a must-visit destination at DFW Airport.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Looking for a quality cup of coffee while bumming around the Dallas airport? Skip the Seattle-based corporate chain and hit up the Cake Bar stand for some Counter Culture. It's a much better cup of coffee. Plus the chocolates are oh so twee.
February 26 · Stephen Harlan (Gogostevie)There was nothing wrong with the food I purchased, but the customer service was extremely disappointing. The man who attended to me was very rude for no reason. I was polite when I asked a question, but he responded with an attitude. To make matters worse, he was sitting down and talking on the phone (at least, that’s what I presume) when I approached. He didn’t even acknowledge me at first. When he finally did, he pointed his phone in my direction—as if to show the person on the other end who was standing there. It was a very uncomfortable and unprofessional experience. The whole exchange felt strange and left a bad impression. Please address this issue—this kind of behavior is not acceptable.
April 17 · Lyannette RamosGentleman working here today was super friendly and helpful! He was great to chat with and give suggestions.Cake was delicious with great flavor but it did taste a little dried out.
September 01 · Desiree MiklusGreat stop to indulge yourself before a long flight. We had a slice of red velvet and hummingbird for a inflight snack
July 10 · Big LouThe cake was meh. It was moist as I prefer but had a very almondy taste for vanilla. The icing tasted a little more like shortening than icing. For $11 I expected a better/bigger slice. The chocolate chip cookie was great. Staff was friendly and helpful.
