christine’s Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In a city as rich in culinary delights as San Francisco, finding a bakery that stands out requires a unique commitment to quality and craft. Enter christine’s, a highly-rated organic microbakery nestled in the vibrant Outer Mission area. Unlike conventional bakeries, christine’s has cultivated a devoted following by specializing in one remarkable product: the gourmet, hand-sized cookie. These aren't just any cookies; they are thick, dense, and chewy creations, weighing in at approximately four ounces each and measuring about four inches in diameter, earning them the nickname "hockey-puck-sized treats."
Founded by Christine Liu, a former tech worker who translated her passion for baking and sustainability into a thriving business, christine’s represents a fusion of fine ingredients and conscious practices. The bakery prioritizes 100% organic ingredients, sourcing roughly 80% of its supplies from local Northern California farmers and producers, including butter from Sierra Nevada Cheese Company and high-quality chocolate from Burlingame. This dedication to local sourcing ensures not only superior flavor but also supports the wider California agricultural community.
Christine’s operates with a philosophy centered on low waste and meticulous attention to detail. This commitment is evident in every bite, where customers praise the immaculate texture—delicate and crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside—and the perfectly balanced flavor profiles. It’s an ideal spot for a quick, luxurious indulgence or for pre-ordering treats for any occasion.
While its primary fame is built on its signature gourmet cookies, christine’s occasionally features other small-batch, seasonal items like Apple Cider Buns and In-House Bagels, sometimes served with unique spreads like truffle cream cheese. The entire operation maintains a friendly, approachable, yet professional tone, making every visit feel like finding a treasured secret in the city.
Location and Accessibility
Christine's is located at 2050 Bryant St, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA. The bakery has a unique, almost hidden presence, situated in an open-air pathway between apartment complexes in the Outer Mission/Potrero Hill neighborhood. This ambiance makes finding it feel like discovering a hidden gem, yet it remains centrally located near other celebrated establishments in the area, such as Trick Dog and Flour + Water.
As a microbakery that initially started as a traveling pop-up, christine’s transitioned into a small, dedicated brick-and-mortar storefront. Customers should note its unique operating hours—typically open Thursday to Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm. Due to the high demand and small-batch production, the shop often sells out, which is why pre-ordering online for pickup is highly recommended by locals and reviewers.
Regarding physical access, christine’s is committed to accommodating all visitors. The location features a wheelchair accessible entrance, ensuring ease of access for everyone. The nature of the service is streamlined for a quick visit and takeout, reflecting its focus on efficient customer service and high-quality products ready for immediate enjoyment.
Services Offered
The service model at christine’s is intentionally simple and focused on delivering a high-quality product efficiently. The key services revolve around their signature cookies and streamlined purchasing methods:
- Pre-Order Pickup: The most popular and recommended service. Customers can place their orders online starting on Sunday for pickup during the operating hours from Thursday through Saturday.
- Walk-in Takeout: While available, customers are advised that popular flavors often sell out, especially later in the day, making pre-ordering the safest way to guarantee your selection.
- Custom Large Orders: The bakery accepts custom orders for events, corporate catering, or weddings, provided the order meets a minimum quantity requirement. This includes offering smaller, two-ounce versions of select cookies for large events, which requires finalizing orders at least one month in advance.
- Vegan and Diet-Conscious Options: A significant portion of the menu is dedicated to dairy-free and vegan options, including a popular vegan chocolate chip cookie and shortbreads. Gluten-free shortbreads, made with a certified gluten-free flour blend, are also offered.
- Specialty Baked Goods: Alongside the main cookie menu, the bakery occasionally offers other seasonal baked items like Apple Cider Buns and In-House Bagels with various spreads, diversifying the small menu.
- Home Goods Sales: The shop also sells small housewares and handmade textiles that reflect the owner’s values for sustainability and artisanship, allowing customers to peruse while they wait for their orders.
- Shipping: The business plans to or has started offering shipping for cookies, extending its reach beyond the San Francisco Bay Area (customers are advised to check the website for current shipping updates).

February 13 · Eliana KimI have been meaning to visit Christine's for ages, and finally made it there. I am in love! I only got one cookie this time and it was the chocolate walnut one, and it was heavenly and decadent! It frankly reminded me of Levain's chocolate chip walnut cookie - and that is my all-time favorite cookie in the world. Will definitely be going back soon for more. Highly recommend, especially if you're a cookie connoisseur!
August 31 · bklyn2014Cool little bakery hidden in an alley. High quality and unique cookies. The black sesame Oreo was my favorite. The cookies were still warm. Our office enjoyed all of them, and even my dog got a fresh pumpkin dog cookie.Vegan cookies available.
March 28 · Philip ThomasBest cookie I’ve had in SF. It’s about time we get a spot like this around here. Chocolate chip and chocolate chip walnut were perfection. Chewy, gooey, and some crisp on the outside. 10/10. Also got the chocolate crackle I would say if you’re a chocolate cake fan you will enjoy it just not my preference. But easily best cookie in SF I’ve had.
