Crème Caramel LA Introduce
In the vibrant culinary landscape of the San Fernando Valley, Crème Caramel LA stands out as a true neighborhood gem. Located in Sherman Oaks, this Filipina-owned custard and coffee shop has been a fixture since opening its brick-and-mortar location in 2013, after years of building a devoted following at Los Angeles-area farmers markets. It’s far more than just a bakery; it is a destination for unique, globally inspired sweet treats and specialty coffee that beautifully bridges Filipino heritage with French culinary technique.
Crème Caramel LA specializes in custards, which are their most popular items, particularly their spin on the classic Filipino dessert, Leche Flan. Owner Kristine de la Cruz took her family's recipe for the traditional Filipino flan—which is known for its creamier texture and heavier egg ratio compared to its Spanish counterpart—and elevated it with contemporary French baking methods and a vibrant, distinctly Filipino-American flavor palette. This unique approach results in a dessert that is both familiar and excitingly new.
Since its launch in 2010, the business has grown from a farmers market staple into a full-service dessert restaurant, wholesale bakery, and local market. Their commitment to quality and community has allowed their tasty treats to be featured in dozens of coffee shops and restaurants across the Southland, cementing their place in the diverse Los Angeles food scene.

For anyone in California searching for an authentic, high-quality, and creative dessert experience, Crème Caramel LA is an undeniable choice. The value here lies in the masterful combination of rich Filipino heritage with precise French technique, resulting in custards that are richer and more flavorful than typical flan.
If you're a first-time visitor, you should undoubtedly try their Ube Upside Down Pie or the Buko Pandan Crème Caramel—these are the desserts that put the shop on the map and truly highlight the best of their Filipino-inspired flavors. The Ube flavor, in particular, offers a delicious, naturally sweet, and earthy taste that is a true revelation for those unfamiliar with the purple yam. The custard itself is often described by customers as incredibly smooth, while the caramel is rich and beautifully thin.
Beyond the desserts, choosing Crème Caramel LA means supporting a women-owned business that has demonstrated a strong commitment to its community and ethical practices, as noted by dedicated patrons. The inclusion of specialty coffee and savory breakfast items—like sandwiches and possibly quiches—makes it a perfect all-day spot, whether you need a quick morning caffeine and pastry fix or a delightful dessert to end your evening. With easy access, free parking, and consistently fresh, delicious offerings, this Sherman Oaks staple provides a sweet, one-of-a-kind experience that keeps Californians coming back for more.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I always have a fantastic experience at Crème Caramel. The staff is kind, professional, and the service is top-notch. From breakfast to desserts to drinks, everything they serve is consistently fresh and delicious. What truly sets them apart is their unwavering commitment to doing what's right, even in the face of backlash. It's rare to see a business prioritize humanity and integrity alongside excellence. I’ll absolutely be back—and I hope others support them too.
May 10 · Nadia GiradGreat spot for something sweet! I tried the matcha latte with the ube cheesecake—such a vibrant combo. Loved the spacious outdoor seating too.
September 14 · Laura ParisoI wanted to put in an excellent word about a shop called crème , The team members are organically very upbeat, friendly never make you feel rushed while you’re ordering and make superb. Suggestions if you can’t make a choice on what you want..I just tried one of their new products called passionfruit fluff cup.It was like I put in an order to Maggie. She sent the order upstairs to heaven, a bake, baked it right there, and then sent it back down to her. I paid for it and enjoyed every delicious bite.Crème caramel is immaculately clean. The staff is organically kind and the products are just phenomenal. They also have delicious hot dishes like the bacon cheddar quiche. I’ve had that too. It’s amazing. So when you get a chance, please do come by and check them out. I’m a regular customer here. I love everything about this place👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍 !!!
June 04 · Fred SmithClassic Creme Caramel / vanilla custard + caramel flan - 5⭐!Honey Lady Grey Caramel / Earl Grey honey custard + caramel flan - 5⭐!Calamansi Cheesecake / citrus fruit flavor + graham crust - 5⭐!Banana Nutella Bread Pudding - 5⭐!The last time I was at Creme Caramel LA (roughly 7 years ago?) before this visit, they were in a smaller space around the corner from their new space on Kester. Their new (to-me) space is large, bright, colorful and includes a big outdoor patio to enjoy their delicious, Filipino-inspired desserts and beverages.I love Creme Caramel LA. There are so many things to love about them.Their deserts are creative, delicious and they have rotating, unique flavors as well as their classics. They specialize in custard/flan style desserts but they don't stop there. They also have amazing cheesecakes, bread puddings, bars, cookies, cakes, pies and more! They even have a fun "unicorn poop" item (spoiler, it's a meringue cookie). They don't stop at dessert though! They also have some savory brunch style items and a full cafe menu. Besides the variety, I also appreciate how each item is packaged as a single serving. It lets me order a variety of things to try since I can never pick just one.The staff and owner are some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. They are kind, generous and care about their wonderful, small business and community. The owners are from the Philippines and they use their cultural history to inspire exciting new flavors like the Calamansi Cheesecake.I wish I could stop by more often. I used to live really close to their Valley shop but moved out of the area. They have lots of street parking available as well as a small parking lot. If you are looking for fun, original desserts, they are worth checking out!(side note, their receipt spells it “Grey” and I’m Canadian so I’m sticking with it!)
June 13 · Michael HarroldMy favorite place to get an iced matcha. And their cold foams are divine. Last time I got the salted caramel cold foam and it was the most delicious thing ever. I just wish they had more seats. Last time I went the lobby was closed with a sign that said “lobby is closed for the safety of the staff” not sure why. Neighborhood is pleasant and I’ve never seen anything crazy go on in the shop. It just seemed a bit weird. They did however have a small window with a doorbell, where they took orders from.
