Daily Driver Union Introduce
For California residents, particularly those in the Bay Area, the quest for a truly authentic, high-quality bagel can often lead to debate. **Daily Driver Union** in San Francisco’s Cow Hollow neighborhood offers a distinctive answer to this quest, providing a gourmet experience that elevates the classic bagel shop model. This location, part of a concept celebrated for its commitment to organic, wood-fired baking and in-house creamery products, has quickly become a notable destination for those seeking specialty breakfast and lunch fare.
Daily Driver Union distinguishes itself by operating as both a premium **Bagel Shop** and a full-service **Restaurant**. The cornerstone of their business is the production of **organic, hand-rolled, boiled, and wood-fired bagels**. This method is intended to deliver a uniquely chewy texture and a subtle smoky aroma, providing a sophisticated take on the staple dough ring. Beyond the bread, the establishment is deeply integrated with its own dairy production, crafting **hand-batted organic butter and cream cheese** using high-quality Jersey milk sourced locally—a feature that highlights their dedication to controlling quality from the farm to the table.
The menu extends beyond simple bagels and spreads to offer complex, satisfying **SANDOS** (bagel sandwiches) designed for a substantial meal. Offerings range from breakfast classics like the **B.E.C. (Bacon, Egg, & Cheese)** to gourmet lunch options such as the **Gravlax Sandwich** made with house-cured King Salmon. This culinary focus, combined with trade-direct, small-batch **Coffee**, positions Daily Driver Union as a perfect neighborhood spot for a quick grab-and-go meal or a relaxed **Dine-in** experience on the famously lively Union Street.
While the unique, tangy style of their house-made cream cheese and the texture of their wood-fired bagels might be a departure from traditional East Coast styles, local reviewers have acknowledged the high-quality ingredients and welcomed the shop to the neighborhood. As one local user noted, they are "Glad we have a bagel shop in Cow Hollow," indicating its positive reception as a much-needed local resource. Daily Driver Union is a strong choice for Californians who value organic sourcing, artisanal preparation, and a full-spectrum menu.

- **In-House Creamery & Cultured Spreads:** Daily Driver is renowned for producing its own dairy. The cream cheese and butter are organic, hand-paddled, and cultured using high-quality Jersey milk from a nearby dairy. The resulting cream cheese has a unique, tangy flavor and whipped texture, which, while different from mass-market products, is beloved by many for its quality and unique taste.

For a first-time visitor to Daily Driver Union, the selection should focus on the items that best showcase their unique, artisanal process, especially the wood-fired element and the house-made dairy.
First, you must choose a bagel paired with their **House-Made Cream Cheese**. It's their signature feature. Though one reviewer found the cream cheese texture unusual, the overwhelming consensus is that it is a high-quality, wonderfully tangy, and intentionally whipped style that is different from what you find elsewhere—it’s a taste of their in-house creamery. If you’re buying in bulk, the **Assorted Organic Half Dozen Bagels** and an 8oz container of **Plain Cream Cheese** ($7.00–$8.00) are the perfect way to bring the experience home.
For a complete and satisfying meal, the **Gourmet Bagel Sandwiches** are the undisputed highlight. The **Gravlax Sandwich** is highly recommended, featuring house-cured King Salmon and their Dill Cream Cheese on a fresh, wood-fired bagel, offering a premium take on the classic lox sandwich for around $16.00-$17.00. For something heartier and savory, the **B.E.C. (Bacon! Egg! & Cheese!)** ($13.50) is a popular and acclaimed choice, and the simple yet decadent **Plain Grilled Cheese Bagel** is a favorite among those looking for cheesy comfort food.
Finally, be sure to complete your order with one of their specialty drinks. The **Black Coffee (12oz)** ($3.75), which is roasted in-house from single-origin beans, or a refreshing **Fresh Squeezed Organic Orange Juice** ($6.00) are excellent complements to the rich bagels and spreads. Daily Driver Union is a distinctive San Francisco spot that offers a commitment to organic, farm-to-table quality in a surprisingly simple format, making it a worthy addition to any Californian’s list of favorite local eats.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Cream cheese had a really weird texture, bagel was terrible. The bagel was more like stale bread, not chewy, very dry. Don’t be fooled by inflated Marina reviews 😅
May 04 · Sonia ALove the bagels and decor. Glad we have a bagel shop in Cow Hollow
March 17 · Rachel BresnickThis place must be a money laundering front or something. There's no way a place that sells only bagels can offer such awful ones. The bagel itself is hard and tastes stale. The cream cheese has a weird grainy texture and unpleasant flavor. I didn't even finish half of it because it wasn't worth it. However, the guy working the counter was nice, and the place is nicely decorated with comfortable seating.I will never be going back.
May 12 · Christina RolfeSo happy to have a good bagel spot in the Marina at last! Hard to find a quality bagel in SF. Love the bagel sandwhich with lox and “The Rachel” is a surprise hit. Everyone who works here is friendly too.
July 09 · Nora CarrGreat new spot with organic bagels! Got me feeling like I’m in New York :)
