Donut Nook Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For residents across Vancouver and the broader Washington region, Donut Nook represents a cherished piece of local history and a reliable source of classic, handmade sweet treats. Operating as an old-school, family-owned establishment since 1976, this donut shop has cemented its place in the community by offering straightforward, high-quality donuts and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. In an era where some bakeries lean heavily into trendy, complicated flavors, Donut Nook remains committed to doing the classics—like the Maple Bar, Apple Fritter, and Old Fashion Cake—exceptionally well and at accessible prices.
Located in Vancouver, WA, Donut Nook is the kind of local gem that inspires fierce loyalty. Customers often bypass larger, more commercial chains for the authentic taste and friendly service found here. The general consensus among long-time patrons is that the donuts, particularly the Buttermilk Bars and the various Fritters, are among the best you can find in the area, offering a taste that many associate with the nostalgia of childhood bakeries.
It is crucial for new visitors to note that Donut Nook maintains a classic bakery approach: they are open early but typically close around 1:00 PM, and the best selection is found in the morning. Patrons also suggest that the quality and selection are particularly stellar from Thursday through Sunday, underscoring the importance of visiting early in the day and later in the week for the optimal experience.

What is Worth Choosing
For local users in Washington State, Donut Nook is worth choosing primarily because it offers an authentic, traditional donut experience that has been refined over nearly five decades. It’s an ideal choice for the following: Fritter and Buttermilk Bar Enthusiasts, as these items are consistently lauded as the very best in the area; Early Birds, as the best selection and freshest quality are guaranteed before 10:00 AM and particularly on weekends; and Fans of Classic Donuts who appreciate the simple, non-gourmet excellence of a well-executed Maple Bar, Chocolate Cake, or Glazed Twist.
However, it is worth acknowledging the noted inconsistency in quality, particularly with the raised donuts early in the week. While the friendly service and commitment to the community are unwavering, visitors should be aware that the raised ring donuts might occasionally suffer from a dense, "bready" texture, as one disappointed customer noted. The general consensus, though, strongly favors the shop's cake donuts, bars, and especially the fritters. Ultimately, Donut Nook is a deeply ingrained, family-owned establishment that local Washington residents should experience, especially for the chance to enjoy their specialty fritters and a simple, perfectly paired cup of House Coffee—a true taste of classic Vancouver.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The donuts really are the best… towards the end of the week. Like Thursday through Sunday. You have to go early if you want a good selection. They are only open until 1 so don’t expect a good selection going after 11. I think the maple sprinkle white cake is the best donut I’ve ever had! I wish they were more consistent during the beginning of the week. I’ve gone in on a Monday/Tuesday n was very unhappy with my donuts but I like to support them! Always fast, friendly service! I live right by Voodoo n Angels but I happily make the drive to Donut Nook to get the best donuts I’ve had since I was a kid!
July 24 · sarah martinezSo sad. I was so excited to order here after reading all the rave reviews. I have been on a fruitless quest to find a really good raised donut in the area since I moved here 5 years ago. These ones looked so promising, and arrived looking tasty and clearly packaged with care. Then I took a bite, aaaand.... It's bread. Literally bread. The exact taste and texture of a dinner roll, if you for some reason covered it in glaze. I couldn't even eat it, and even the less discerning kids abandoned theirs after a bite. Wish I hadn't ordered so many, as they're all gonna be thrown away. I want to believe it was just a bad batch that happened yo be accidentally overproofed, but it's not worth the risk to reorder. Sooo disappointing, I was so looking forward to a weekend treat. You can see in the photos how weirdly dense and bready they are. Yuck. Only gave an extra star because they packaged them nicely and it seems the service is good.
June 21 · Chloe LisbethThis is hands-down, the best donut shop in Vancouver. I would dare say, all of Clark County! And yes, even though their decor hasn’t been updated for several decades, it still has a certain nostalgia that brings me back to my childhood.Super friendly staff, and you can always count on a group of old timers sipping their coffee and swapping stories-Just a great place
July 11 · bo ditchAbsolutely one of my favorite local destinations!❤️ A well preserved, mom-and-pop blast-from-the-past, independent donut shop🥰
June 09 · Bentley AlderI'm surprised I haven't done a review on this place since we first discovered it visiting my inlaws a few years back. This is definitely one of the best donut shops I've been to. From the donuts to the fritters, everything is delicious. Customer service is great as well.We always make a point to stop by here once or twice while in Vancouver.
