DreamWorld Bakes Introduce
For residents of Pennsylvania seeking a bakery experience that transcends the ordinary, DreamWorld Bakes in Philadelphia offers a true escape into culinary fantasy. Founded by self-taught baker and "2024 Philadelphia Magazine's Best of Philly" baker, Ashley Huston, this establishment is celebrated for transforming cakes and pastries into edible works of art. DreamWorld Bakes distinguishes itself through a unique blend of global flavors—inspired in part by Huston's time in the Peace Corps—and a distinctly whimsical aesthetic, often featuring custom creations topped with fresh flowers, fruit, and plenty of sparkle.
This is a bakery with a strong, creative vision, where "unique and different" defines every product. Customers consistently rave about the ambition and complexity of the flavor combinations, which are packed with layers of taste. While custom cakes for weddings, birthdays, and special events remain a centerpiece, the brick-and-mortar cafe serves a constantly rotating menu of sweet and savory daily delights. Whether you’re looking for a show-stopping cake that was once commissioned for a celebrity like Patti LaBelle or just a heavenly morning pastry, DreamWorld Bakes promises to deliver a memorable and truly special treat.
DreamWorld Bakes has settled into its first permanent location, making its home in a well-loved and growing neighborhood on the edge of Fishtown and East Kensington.
The bakery is located at:
2400 Coral St, Philadelphia, PA 19125, USA

DreamWorld Bakes’ reputation is built on its innovative and meticulously crafted menu items, many of which have achieved local fame.
- Ambitious and Rotating Flavor Menu: The menu changes monthly, ensuring an element of surprise and creativity. Past hit flavors include the Baby Spice (cardamom cake with passionfruit curd and mango-chai mousse) and Cruel Summer (Thai tea cake layers, mango lassi curd).
- The "Adulting" Cake: A highly-praised funfetti cake featuring malt milk, toasted milk custard, and vanilla frosting that has been called "fantastic" and reminiscent of "milk cereal creamified."
- Unique Savory Pastries: The bakery offers inventive savory options that go beyond the typical, such as the Breakfast Bon (a savory twist on a cinnamon roll, filled with scrambled egg, sausage, and caramelized onion) and the Ham & Cheese Pithivier (a "giant hot pocket" made with their signature buttery crx dough).
- High-Quality Daily Pastries: Standout items include buttermilk donuts (like the Strawberry Matcha Donut with strawberry-lavender preserve), specialty croissants (Rhubarb and Custard), and unexpected treats like the Guava & Cheese Poptart and Cosmic Brownie.
- Artistic Presentation: Known for whimsical, colorful designs that treat each cake as an art form, often adorned with glitter, fresh flowers, and fruit.
- Award-Winning Pedigree: The baker, Ashley Huston, has received significant recognition, including being named 2024 Best of Philly baker, which underscores the professional quality of the offerings.

For anyone in Pennsylvania looking to "treat yourself" to a truly elevated baked good, DreamWorld Bakes offers a host of choices that justify the price point. The most worthwhile choices are the ones that showcase the bakery's unique flair and exceptional flavor layering.
First-time visitors should absolutely prioritize a slice of their signature cake, particularly whatever is currently on the daily menu. If available, try the famous "Adulting" Cake for its unique, nostalgic malt-milk flavor and texture, or the "Baby Spice" for an incredible blend of cardamom, passionfruit, and mango. The sheer creativity in these cakes is what has earned the bakery its awards and high praise.
For a savory morning bite, the Breakfast Bon is a must-try. It’s a hearty and unique swirled pastry that offers a substantial, flavorful meal, transforming the typical sweet bun into a savory breakfast indulgence. The Caramelized Banana Bread (which is also vegan) is another excellent daily treat praised for its flavor.
Finally, make sure to grab one of their specialized donuts or croissant creations—whether it's the Strawberry Matcha Donut or a unique seasonal fruit-filled pastry. While customers have noted that the coffee and specialty drinks can sometimes be inconsistent, the core baked goods "hit" every time, making the pastries themselves the main draw and the true highlight of a visit to this Philadelphia gem.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Their baked goods hit. The adulting cake was fantastic. I didn't get toooo much of the funfetti flavor from the cake itself but it was so much fun to eat with the cake crumbles. And that frosting mmmmmm, it was like milk cereal creamified. The donut was also spot on, especially with the custard and jams coming together. Dreamworld bakes is so creative with everything they offer. I'd pass on their drinks though, the mango chai was super super bitter, borderline awful.Really cute little space, and the ladies here are so nice and fun. It is pretty pricey, a slice of the cake was $9 and it wasn't very big. I do love their things but probably wouldn't frequent given the price.
September 15 · Sara LeeA little pricey. But definitely worth it for a treat yourself. The banana pastry was so good. The best thing in the box. The cheesesteak bun needs a little bit more filling.Would love to see them on the too good to go app.
July 25 · Denise MontgomeryLady w the short hair was not super nice. I came in for the first time at around 830am on a Thursday, no one in the store. Not many products so she said nothing was fresh so selling 2x$8. I said cool, started looking at what was available. I saw the board with the different item names, so I asked the lady with the short hair which was what, she said look at the board. Lady i don’t know whats is what, I want to buy.. Its my first time at your bakery. You should be courteous and try to tell me about the these un-fresh buns. So I left and went to Fiore for some amazing cakes, that when I asked what they were, they kindly explained.
September 27 · Alejandro MezaCheck the "Update":Original:The food here was good, but the service was disappointing. The woman at the counter, possibly the owner, was unfriendly from the start—no greeting, just a cold attitude. I ordered a few pastries, and when I asked for a strawberry matcha, she said they didn’t have strawberry. I clarified that I wanted a matcha, and she offered a “rhubarb drink.” Assuming it was a rhubarb matcha, I agreed, but it turned out to be rhubarb lemonade. When I mentioned the mix-up, she responded, “You can’t drink that?” with no apology. I explained I had wanted a matcha, and she said, “So I guess I have to pay for it.” To avoid further conflict, I said I can pay, even though I didn’t take the wrong drink. While she was running the register and about to charge me, the barista kindly stepped in and said she would cover it.Spending $40 on breakfast, I didn’t expect such rude service. It’s disappointing when staff in the service industry lack basic courtesy.Update:I have to respectfully disagree your reply (see photo 2 in case it gets edited or deleted) — the drink is not “on you.” I paid for it, and I didn’t even touch the first (wrong) drink since it was pink, not matcha. You took it back, and I only accepted the second. From both a customer service and legal standpoint, when there’s a misunderstanding or miscommunication in an order, the customer arguably has the right to refuse the incorrect item and request a refund. How can you assume I was at fault and should pay for both drinks?I only offered to pay again because the cashier said, “I guess I have to pay,” and I was trying to be polite, not difficult. But I clearly asked for matcha, and the cashier, with a cold attitude, offered a lemonade without explaining. It was confusing and unprofessional. You did a good job as a barista, but if you’re also the owner, I believe you should take responsibility and not shift the blame to the customer. I now better understand the attitude I experienced from your staff.
May 29 · Ryan SIf I could eat these confections every day, I would. First off, I’m obsessed with this corner building—especially the outdoor space. The cafe seating inside is almost as delectable as the pastries on the creative and ever evolving menu that changes monthly to incorporate what is in season. The staff? Incredible. I love this charming place and I never want it to change.
