Fluffy’s Hand Cut Donuts Introduce
Hello, Minnesota residents! When we talk about local bakery excellence, sometimes we need to look beyond the everyday storefront to those special, fleeting establishments that have become true local traditions. In St. Paul, when late August rolls around, one name rises to the top of everyone’s must-eat list: Fluffy’s Hand Cut Donuts. This is not a year-round neighborhood bakery but rather North America's only traveling donut shop, and it has secured its status as a beloved institution at the Great Minnesota Get-Together—the Minnesota State Fair. For many Minnesotans, a trip to the fair isn't complete without indulging in one of Fluffy’s massive, yeast-raised creations.
The concept of Fluffy’s is simple yet hugely appealing: take a delicious, hand-cut, yeast-raised donut and use it as a canvas for imaginative, over-the-top toppings and combinations. It is a business born out of a donut obsession, focusing on top-notch ingredients, donut passion, and a commitment to creating an unforgettable fair experience. While they travel to various fairs across the United States, their annual appearance in St. Paul has made them a fundamental part of the local food culture, eagerly anticipated by thousands of residents each year. Their offerings are often high-profile, appearing on lists of new and exciting fair foods, and their size and creativity are what draw the long lines of loyal customers.
### Location and Accessibility during the Great Minnesota Get-Together
Since Fluffy’s Hand Cut Donuts is a traveling vendor, its primary, and most famous, Minnesota location is always temporary, tied to the annual State Fair in St. Paul. This makes their appearance a true, highly anticipated event for local users.
The general location provided is: St Paul, MN 55108, USA (The location of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds).
During the State Fair, Fluffy’s Hand Cut Donuts has historically been located in a prominent, easily accessible spot, often noted as being on the northwest corner of Carnes Avenue and Chambers Street. This area is central to the fairgrounds, making it simple to find for anyone navigating the crowds.
Since they operate as a food truck/booth at the fair, the experience is designed for a quick visit. Accessibility at the fairgrounds generally accommodates mobility needs, and their specific vendor location is easily reachable for a swift purchase. For Minnesotans planning their fair outing, it is essential to remember that this bakery's window of availability is limited to the two weeks of the fair.
### Services Offered
Operating within the unique environment of a major state fair, Fluffy’s focuses its services entirely on providing fresh, immediate, and high-volume sales of their signature products:
- Takeout: All donuts and specialized menu items are prepared fresh on-site and served immediately for instant consumption or quick takeout.
- Hand-Cut Donuts: Specializing in large, hand-cut, yeast-raised donuts, which are typically significantly thicker and fluffier than standard commercial donuts.

### Features and Highlights
Fluffy’s Hand Cut Donuts has become a Minnesota fair staple because of its distinct approach to the classic treat and its commitment to an exciting food experience:
- The Donut Sundae: This is perhaps their most famous creation—a colossal, hand-cut donut topped with ice cream and various other sweet ingredients, offering an unparalleled dessert experience at the fair.
- Yeast-Raised Perfection: Their commitment to a
hand-cut, yeast-raised
process results in a famously thick, airy, and fluffy dough, which is the signature element of their product. - Creative Flavor Combinations: Fluffy’s is known for introducing highly creative and often savory-sweet flavors, such as the past appearance of the Hot Honey Jalapeño Popper Donut, which blends unconventional ingredients like cream cheese, bacon, and hot honey on a donut base.
Fair Friendly
Staff: Despite the high-volume environment of the fair, customers generally note the staff for being polite and friendly, contributing positively to the overall experience.- An Annual Minnesota Tradition: Their presence at the Great Minnesota Get-Together ensures they are a beloved, annual destination for countless local families and fairgoers.
### Contact Information
Due to the nature of a traveling fair vendor, contact information for Fluffy’s Hand Cut Donuts is centered on their fair presence and broader online details, rather than a permanent storefront in St. Paul.
Address (Seasonal Location): On the Minnesota State Fairgrounds (St Paul, MN 55108, USA), historically located on the northwest corner of Carnes Ave. & Chambers St.
Phone: No permanent local phone number is widely published for their seasonal fair booth operations. Inquiries are best directed through their official fair channels or corporate website.
### What is Worth Choosing
Choosing Fluffy’s Hand Cut Donuts is worthwhile for any Minnesotan because it offers a fun, high-impact food experience that is synonymous with the state’s greatest annual tradition. Their status as a fair vendor means they are designed to deliver spectacle and flavor, making them an essential part of the Great Minnesota Get-Together
experience.
The core value proposition lies in the product's sheer scale and quality. These are not everyday donuts; the hand-cut, thick yeast dough provides a substantial, memorable bite, differentiating them from standard bakery offerings. For many, the chance to try a giant, creative donut, or the famously indulgent Donut Sundae, is the ultimate fair treat. While some reviews may mention the thickness of the dough compared to the toppings, this is often a characteristic of their unique, extra-fluffy, yeast-raised style—a preference that separates their offering from lighter, cake-style donuts. To fully appreciate Fluffy's, a local customer should approach it as a special, celebratory fair food indulgence.
Furthermore, their annual commitment to providing innovative new fair foods—like their blend of savory and sweet options—keeps the local dining landscape exciting and gives Minnesotans something new to look forward to every August. By choosing Fluffy’s, you are participating in a cherished local ritual, guaranteeing a big, beautiful, and unique dessert that you won't find anywhere else in the state for the rest of the year. They are a must-visit destination for anyone looking to embrace the full, delicious fun of the Minnesota State Fair.

September 02 · Nina PerryFluffy's Hand Cut Donuts came to the North Carolina State Fair and the donuts were a BIG fail for me!!👎 I decided to try the Samoa donut because that's one of my favorite Girl Scout Cookie flavors. The donut fell short for me. After one bite, I basically tore the donut in half length wise and ate the top half and threw the bottom half away! It would've been better had the entire donut been glazed and then the Samoa topping applied!? The ratio of THICK dough to toppings was completely off!! Basically it was a huge THICK hunk of PLAIN dry yeast BREAD with a THIN layer of sweet topping which was disappointing, especially for $8!? The ONLY positive was, the food truck staff were Fair friendly!
October 19 · Alexia WatlingtonJoining the "pickle craze" at this year's Minnesota State Fair was the Dill Pickle Donut by Fluffy's. Billed as a hand cut, yeast-raised donut “frosted” with a dill pickle juice whipped cream cheese and topped with thick cut dill pickles and a dill sprinkle.I wanted to like this, I really did. I'm not sure if it's because it was later in the day on closing day of the fair, but this was dry and hard to chew. Paid $8, took maybe 2 bites, and into the trash can it went. This one should have stayed an April fool's joke.
September 16 · Matthew ScheppAbsolutely delicious! I had the banana cream pie donut. Super soft, perfect filling to donut ratio, frosting was not overly sweet so it complimented the experience instead of overpowering the other flavors.Highly recommend having a donut or three from Fluffy’s!
September 04 · Robin KThese lovely ladies gave me a free water because I’m old and was sweating. I added them to Google maps so others can see what nice people they are! It’s right by the grandstand, not in it, but that’s the multiple choice I had to choose from.
