Introduction / Overview
In the heart of the beautiful Brentwood neighborhood in Los Angeles, residents and visitors alike have discovered a bakery dedicated to perfecting one beloved treat: the quintessential banana bread. Gone Bananas Bread has quickly established itself as a local specialty bakery, moving far beyond the simple home-baked loaf to create a truly premium, 'Crazy Moist' culinary experience. They have taken what is often a humble baked good and transformed it into a decadent dessert, offering a diverse menu of unique flavor combinations and specialty items.
For those living in or commuting through the Westside of Los Angeles, this bakery is more than just a quick stop; it's a destination for a sweet, comforting indulgence. While it’s renowned for its signature, incredibly moist texture, Gone Bananas Bread also commits to making a positive local impact, donating a portion of its net profits to charities like Baby2Baby and A Sense of Home. This commitment to both quality and community helps cement its status as a valued local business. Whether you are seeking a daily slice of comfort or a magnificent dessert for a special occasion, the bakery’s dedication to a single, star product ensures a consistently high-quality experience. Their focus allows them to innovate within a focused niche, delivering products that continually delight a loyal customer base across the state of California and beyond.
The core of the business revolves around their mastery of the banana bread recipe. Unlike mass-produced alternatives, the team at Gone Bananas Bread focuses on small-batch production that highlights the natural sweetness and moisture of ripe bananas. This attention to detail results in the 'Crazy Moist' texture that has become their hallmark. Furthermore, the bakery offers options for various dietary needs, including a notable Nirvana Banana (Vegan/Gluten Free) loaf, ensuring that more people in the California community can enjoy their signature product. Their inventive menu expands the traditional concept of banana bread, making it a versatile treat for breakfast, dessert, or a mid-day snack.

What is Worth Choosing
For the local California resident, choosing Gone Bananas Bread is about investing in a top-tier, specialty dessert experience. The quality and unique offerings make the visit worthwhile, despite the premium pricing. What truly sets them apart are the specific items and commitments that elevate the bakery above typical neighborhood shops.
If you are visiting for the first time, starting with the two main categories is highly recommended. For the traditionalists, the Big Banana loaf is described as one of the moistest you'll ever have, an absolute must for appreciating the quality of their foundational recipe. For those who crave something richer, the OG Chocolate Chip is a timeless favorite.
However, the single most worth-it indulgence is the Banana Bread Pudding. This dessert is a masterpiece, combining their signature bread with a luscious bourbon custard and a top layer of salted caramel gelato and chantilly cream. It represents the height of what a banana-based dessert can be and is a phenomenal treat for a post-dinner cap or a special afternoon pick-me-up. It is a fusion of textures and flavors that fully justifies the trip.
Beyond the individual slices, consider the full loaves for special events or as a substantial, well-appreciated gift. The full-size loaf is perfect for sharing at a family gathering or bringing to a party. Even the premium-priced Nirvana Banana (Vegan/Gluten Free) is a great choice for households with mixed dietary needs, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a slice of their famous moist bread.
Finally, for those looking for a personal touch, the bakery offers the option of adding a rich cream cheese frosting to their Nucking Futs loaf, which transforms the nutty bread into an even more decadent cake-like experience. This level of customization and the dedication to superior ingredients solidify Gone Bananas Bread as a fantastic local bakery choice in Los Angeles. From the convenient Brentwood hours to the decadent pudding, it’s a specialty stop that satisfies the most intense sweet cravings.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Their banana bread is pretty decent. I do find their flavor combos to be lackluster. Their prices are also insane? Charging $40 for a loaf of banana bread? A single slice is almost $10.
August 15 · M TOh my God I just love this place it's called Gone Bananas Bread. Street parking is a little difficult but you can find parking in the lot. But I love the bread it's just incredible What a find.
May 29 · victor osakaStopped here with my 3 and 5 year old, they had music 🎵 playing and a welcoming environment. We tried a half dozen of their mini chocolate chip banana bread “bonbons” shaped like hearts.. so cute & DELICIOUS!! Will definitely be back!
June 01 · Conner VogelI didn't realize buying banana bread was a thing, but found out about these guys right in time for Mother's Day so I grabbed one of the Banana Handlers as a gift for mom. Omg. It was the most moist, scrumptious banana bread I've ever had. I will absolutely be making this a regular gift idea, or a snack for myself if I'm in the area.
May 14 · Ali BooneIt was my first visit to GBB and I ordered 2 different slices, as I wanted to sample their bread. They were served pre-packaged and I didn’t discover that both were small end pieces until after I’d left the area. Perhaps all single slices are served this way, hence the pre-packaging? Regardless, I won’t return to find out. I strongly dislike the end piece of any bread and for $8/slice, it was definitely not worth it.
