Good Family Bakery雙龍珠餅屋 Introduce
For residents of Brooklyn, particularly those in the diverse neighborhoods surrounding Avenue U, finding a local bakery that caters to specific tastes is always a welcome discovery. Good Family Bakery 雙龍珠餅屋, situated in this vibrant part of the borough, positions itself as a go-to spot for a range of baked goods, with a distinct emphasis on Chinese bakery traditions. It offers a variety of buns, pastries, and desserts that appeal to both those familiar with Asian baked goods and curious New Yorkers looking to explore new culinary horizons.
In the bustling landscape of New York City, local bakeries like Good Family Bakery play an integral role in providing daily sustenance and special treats to their communities. This establishment aims to serve as a convenient and familiar place where patrons can pick up everything from a quick breakfast bun to a sweet dessert for later. The name "雙龍珠餅屋" (Shuang Long Zhu Bing Wu), which translates to "Twin Dragon Pearl Bakery," hints at the traditional roots and perhaps signature items that define its offerings. For many local users, the appeal lies in the accessibility of authentic Chinese bakery items without having to venture far from their neighborhoods.
As with any local eatery, individual experiences can vary, and understanding the specific offerings and customer feedback can help prospective patrons set their expectations. Good Family Bakery aims to provide a consistent array of baked goods, striving to maintain the freshness and quality that New Yorkers expect from their local food establishments. This article will delve into what makes this bakery a part of the Avenue U fabric, from its location to its specific culinary offerings.
Good Family Bakery 雙龍珠餅屋 is conveniently located at 1317 Avenue U, Brooklyn, NY 11229, USA. Avenue U is a significant commercial artery in Brooklyn, known for its diverse array of shops, restaurants, and local businesses. This prime location makes the bakery highly accessible for residents in the surrounding neighborhoods, including Sheepshead Bay, Gravesend, and Midwood.
For New Yorkers who rely on public transportation, Avenue U is generally well-served. The B and Q subway lines have stations on Avenue U, making it relatively straightforward for those commuting from other parts of Brooklyn or even Manhattan to reach the bakery. Additionally, various local bus routes operate along Avenue U and its intersecting streets, providing further convenience for nearby residents. The presence of other businesses and residential areas ensures a consistent flow of foot traffic, making the bakery an easy and visible stop during daily errands. While street parking can be a common challenge in busy New York neighborhoods, the availability of public transport options mitigates this for many local patrons.
Good Family Bakery 雙龍珠餅屋 primarily focuses on providing a range of traditional Chinese baked goods and pastries. Their services and typical offerings include:
Variety of Buns: A core offering, with a wide selection of buns available. These often include savory options like dried meat buns and sweet options like pineapple buns (though recent reviews suggest some inconsistency in the latter's quality).
Traditional Chinese Pastries: Alongside buns, they offer other classic items such as egg tarts. While reviews indicate they are "pretty good," they may not always be considered the absolute best by connoisseurs.
Specialty Desserts: Unique items like coconut pudding are a highlight for some customers, indicating a broader range of traditional Asian desserts beyond standard baked goods.
Cakes: The bakery offers various cakes, though customer feedback suggests caution regarding freshness, indicating that some cakes might have been sitting for a while.
Takeaway Service: Like many neighborhood bakeries, the primary service model is likely for customers to select items from display cases for immediate purchase and takeaway.
Good Family Bakery 雙龍珠餅屋 has several features that make it a notable spot for local New Yorkers, particularly those seeking specific Asian baked goods:
Extensive Variety of Buns: One of its strongest features is the sheer variety of buns offered. This allows customers a wide selection for different tastes and preferences, catering to both savory and sweet cravings.
Unique Dessert Options: The availability of items like coconut pudding, a particular favorite for some, adds a unique dimension to their offerings beyond typical Western bakery items.
Local Chinese Bakery Experience: For residents in the area, it provides a convenient and authentic local Chinese bakery experience, which can be a significant draw for those familiar with or interested in this culinary style.
However, based on recent customer feedback, it's crucial for prospective patrons to be aware of some potential drawbacks:
Inconsistency in Freshness: There have been reports of inconsistency in the freshness of certain items, with one notable instance of mold on bread and concerns about cakes appearing to have sat for a while. This suggests that customers should exercise discretion, especially when purchasing items that are not freshly baked.
Quality Control Concerns: Specific feedback regarding changes in the taste of popular items like pineapple buns and issues with stale or molded bread points to potential inconsistencies in baking quality or inventory management. This highlights the importance of checking items before purchase.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I use to like the pineapple buns here but recently it doesn’t taste as good. Probably not the same baker. Today I gave it a 1 star because I got an old bread probably over night unsold bread. The dried meat on top and bun is a sponge cake. It molded. Green mold on the sponge cake. I didn’t realize it because I was only looking at the top covered with the dried meat. When I took it, it felt wrong like the bun has strunk. I think because the cream to stick the dried meat has soaked into the sponge cake for too long and wet the cake. It is not puffy like it should be. I didn’t think much and took it anyway. When I got home, then I realize it must be overnight cake that has green mold on it.
October 27 · ELLEN SHAWGood bakery with lots of variety in buns! They also had coconut pudding which was my favorite! The egg tarts are pretty good but not the best I’ve ever had. Some of their cakes looked like it’s been sitting for a while… so don’t get the cakes from here.
August 01 · KimikoFive stars for solid dim sum at great prices! We always come here to pick up dim sum for the family. Fresh ingredients and good portions. My faves are the beef rice rolls, fried shrimp balls and crystal shrimp dumplings! Just point and order, you can’t go wrong!
January 04 · OliviaBesides the baked stuff (which I find mediocre), the dim sum here isn't half bad. Their shrimp eggplants are tasty. The round shrimp chive dumplings are one of my favorites. I did find the radish cakes to be hit-or-miss, some days amazing while others badly burnt and flavorless, which is a real bummer since they are another one of my favorite dim sum dishes. Aside from that, their fried noodles do make for a decent filling. Not the best I've had but satisfying nonetheless. Final verdict: An above average chinese bakery.
November 14 · June AshleyThe stuff here is just alright. It's never the best taste and quality. I gave one star because of bacteria in food 2 days ago. Got a dish of radish cake. After finishing the first piece, my stomach hurt badly, and i couldn’t eat anything anymore. I thought it was from other foods. I finished the rest of the pieces the next day without mixed of other food, and my stomach hurt badly again. I realized what's the problem was. They were lucky i didn't want to go through the trouble pricess to report them, which i feel like i should, but I'll never go there again.
