Great Harvest Bread Co. Introduce
For Minnesotans who appreciate the difference that truly fresh, wholesome ingredients make, Great Harvest Bread Co. on Selby Avenue in St. Paul stands out as a reliable and cherished neighborhood bakery. This is a local institution dedicated to crafting what they proudly call "phenomenal bread" that nourishes both body and soul. Their philosophy is simple yet powerful: start with the purest, simplest ingredients, including wheat grown in Montana's Golden Triangle, and never rush the process.
The key differentiator at Great Harvest is their commitment to fresh-milling. Every day, they stone-mill 100% whole grain wheat right in the bakery, which ensures that all the natural protein, fiber, vitamins, and complex flavors of the wheat kernel are retained. This dedication to milling on-site is a labor of love that few other bakeries undertake, and it is the foundation of their incredibly fresh and highly nutritious loaves. It’s bread baked "the way it ought to be"—using traditional, time-honored methods without any shortcuts, preservatives, or artificial additives.
Beyond the flagship loaves, such as the legendary Honey Whole Wheat, this local Great Harvest is also a women-owned business, adding to the rich tapestry of independent entrepreneurship in the Twin Cities. They are known for providing a warm, familiar customer experience, often offering generous free slices of hot bread, straight from the oven, allowing you to taste the freshness before you buy. Whether you are looking for a hearty multigrain loaf, a decadent sweet bread, or a quick, fresh breakfast with coffee, Great Harvest on Selby is a dependable destination.
The St. Paul Great Harvest is not just about bread; it’s about a commitment to community and quality. They operate with the independent spirit of a small, local business, crafting their own unique menu that goes beyond the basics to serve the specific tastes and needs of the Selby neighborhood. This personalized, local focus is why they have become such a valued part of the St. Paul food scene.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The sandwiches we ordered were mediocre, but the small round loafs (Pandan?sp?) no photo, and cinnamon raisen bread were enjoyed! The granola looked delicious, will definitely be back to purchase breads and treats.
August 17 · Renee TylerI normally love your bakery. However, I purchased a loaf of cinnamon chip at the Roseville Farmer’s Market for $9. This bread was NOT fresh and clearly more than a day old! It was not soft as I have previously experienced and can only be used as toast. My problem is that I paid full price for it and that was not disclosed.
August 14 · Jodi WalkerDelicious products nice staff and knowledgeable about the products. Only downside. I tried the cinnamon scone perfect consistency not too dry. However baked goods that use butter should be made with unsalted butter. Idid not buy because it was too salty. Salted butter has excessive sodium. Baking soda if used is so salty that I can taste it. I bake using baking powder and unsalted butter. Breads are fabulous!!!!
May 18 · Pamela ClukeI love their bread. I got two loafs of high fiber bread. OMG - it was like 5 times the weight of a normal grocery store loaf. And same size. Very good bread here.
June 17 · Steve MorrisUmm, wow! I came in after an appointment close by, and bought some things for my boyfriend. We were blown away by their sourdough chocolate chip cookies! Seriously, the best cookie I’ve had in awhile and it stays soft and chewy. Absolutely loved their lemon bar and their orange biscotti too! Definitely recommend this place. Delicious!
