Great Harvest Bread Introduce
For Minnesotans seeking true, from-scratch baking that prioritizes flavor and nutrition, the Great Harvest Bread location in Waite Park stands as a treasured local gem. This is far more than just a bakery; it operates as a full-service bakery, a health food store with a focus on freshly milled whole grains, a popular sandwich shop, and a reliable catering food and drink supplier. Since opening over 25 years ago, this business has rooted itself in the St. Cloud area community, driven by a passion to provide the freshest and most flavorful whole grain baked goods available.
The core principle of Great Harvest Bread is simple: make bread the way it ought to be. This commitment starts with milling premium whole wheat right in the bakery every day, ensuring that the flour retains all its essential nutrients and incredible natural flavor. Patrons are invited to stop in for a free slice of hot-out-of-the-oven bread—a practice that reflects the open, generous spirit of this locally owned and family-focused business. The constantly evolving chalkboard menu features a diverse selection of products, from their signature loaves and decadent sweets to a full cafe line of sandwiches and seasonal soups.
The atmosphere of this Waite Park establishment is notably unique. As one local observed, the bakery is housed in a distinctive, old-school Quonset hut, which contributes to its quirky, non-chain identity. This architectural character provides a warm, comfortable, and memorable setting that locals appreciate. It’s a place that’s “very quiet” and conducive to having a conversation, with seating available for those who wish to slow down and enjoy their meal or a cup of coffee. The friendly staff—known for simple, kind gestures like offering a child a free cookie—reinforce the community-focused values of the owners, Mike and DeNae Hiltner, who were recently honored by the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce for their long-standing dedication as Small Business Owners of the Year.

This is easily accessible to anyone in the St. Cloud region, being just two blocks west of the major Crossroads Center. Its central position on Division Street—a main thoroughfare—makes it an effortless stop for a daily commute or a planned lunch break.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 16/3/25: The third of June ... "Another sleepy dusty delta day." Bobbie Gentry wasn't there, but it's sort of a 67' place. It was actually my first time there, even though I've lived in St. Cloud my whole life. I bought a loaf of sourdough bread, which is good at $7.95. If you want to use a credit card expected extra charge—25¢ on my purchase, not a big deal I just paid cash. I like the place, it has a unique atmosphere—old school Quonset hut—nobody builds businesses like that anymore. It was very quiet at 1:30 in the afternoon. I could see coming there for a sandwich. They have some sit-down places, and it was quite enough to have a conversation with another person. I'm told the chalkboard menu changes based on what's up for the day. The beauty of this place, is that it ain't no chain thing, so better food, and interesting too.
June 03 · Richard UndlinFresh bread with a variety of flavors. Sandwiches and soups, muffins that all taste great. Cool building and very clean interior. Great service! Staff gave my child a free cookie just because. Pretty cool gesture. We will be back!
March 04 · Nate KellerI’ve started visiting here a couple times a week for lunch and enjoy it very much. The sandwiches are always great and fresh tasting and the people working here are very polite and friendly. 10/10 would recommend
