Welcome to Greyston Bakery, a true gem in the heart of Yonkers, New York. When you think of a local bakery, you probably imagine freshly baked goods, the smell of sugar and chocolate, and a cozy neighborhood feel. Greyston Bakery delivers on all of that and more, with a story that goes far beyond its delicious treats. This isn't just a place to buy a brownie; it’s a social enterprise with a profound mission to create jobs and provide a path to self-sufficiency for those who need it most. For residents of New York, and especially those in the Yonkers area, Greyston Bakery represents a powerful intersection of quality craftsmanship and community upliftment.
For decades, Greyston has been a quiet force for good, baking some of the most sought-after desserts in the country. Their name is synonymous with high-quality, rich, and decadent baked goods, but their business model is what truly sets them apart. They operate on a unique principle known as "Open Hiring," which means they provide employment opportunities to anyone who walks through their doors, without background checks, résumés, or interviews. This groundbreaking approach has changed countless lives, proving that a successful business can also be a powerful engine for social change. By purchasing their products, you are not only treating yourself to an incredible dessert but also directly supporting a system that empowers individuals and strengthens the local community.
The bakery’s reputation for excellence has grown far and wide, thanks in part to their famous partnership with Ben & Jerry's. If you’ve ever enjoyed a Ben & Jerry’s pint with brownie chunks, chances are you’ve already tasted a piece of Greyston's legacy. This partnership has allowed their delicious brownies to reach a global audience while their mission remains firmly rooted in Yonkers. This introduction to Greyston Bakery is meant to give you a deeper appreciation for this local institution, highlighting not just the amazing products they create, but the incredible impact they have on the community and the world.
Located at 104 Alexander St in Yonkers, New York, Greyston Bakery is conveniently situated for locals and visitors alike. The bakery is nestled in a part of Yonkers that is easily accessible by various modes of transportation. For those driving, the location is a short distance from major thoroughfares, making it simple to get to from anywhere in the New York metropolitan area, including Westchester County and New York City. While they are a manufacturing facility and not a retail storefront with daily walk-in sales, their physical presence is a cornerstone of the local economy and a symbol of hope for many.
Navigating to the bakery is straightforward. The street is well-known in the area, and with GPS or a simple map application, you can find your way without any hassle. Public transportation is also a viable option for getting to the general vicinity. Yonkers is served by Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line, with the Yonkers station not being too far from the bakery's location, allowing for easy access for those commuting from other parts of the city or Westchester County. For local residents, the bakery is also accessible by bus routes that run through the area. While a visit to the facility itself is more for corporate partners and tours rather than a quick stop for a treat, knowing the physical address and its accessibility solidifies its place as a local institution that is very much a part of the fabric of Yonkers. This is a place where jobs are created and lives are changed, and its physical location is a symbol of that commitment to the community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Greyston Bakery's vegan brownies are amazing. If you're vegan (or trying to find vegan alternatives), you can't ask for better brownies. I would never know these weren't regular brownies if they weren't labeled "vegan." They also taste great in Ben & Jerry's Non-Dairy Chocolate Brownie Cream. The best part is that Greyston is known for being a company that goes out of its way to help underprivileged members of the community by providing them with employment opportunities.
January 13 · Ignace ManourySaw your amazing bakery featured on world news tonight with David Muir. After hearing your story and what you do to help people thrive in their community, I was compelled to try your brownies. I just received today your box of assorted brownies. WOW!!!THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!My son and I are on our third one and each one is more delicious!!! The vegan brownie is a game changer. They are fresh, moist and packed with so much real flavor. As a baker myself, I know the love, work and commitment it takes to put out a delicious product. They have truly delivered in every way. I can’t wait to share them with family and friends.
November 05 · Cathy GladitschI keep receiving these as gifts and I keep telling myself I’ll just save em to gift to others, so they sit in my pantry closet and everytime I open my pantry door to get some other food and or drink item I see them and pick them up reading the ingredients list and then thinking to myself that those are healthy nutritional ingredients with good health benefits in moderation so not too bad to eat, and so I open one up thinking I’ll only eat half and other half next day, but then they taste so mmm mmm 😋 delicious that I just eat the whole blondie brownie as so very moist melt in your mouth deliciousness! I’m gifted a variety but prefer the blondie brownie versions the best! I eat with almond milk too!
January 17 · HeidiI am a small streamer that does a 12 days of christmas special every year. i ordered the 8 pack combo box with 8 different brownies in it for one of those stream days as a test taste style stream. I was thoroughly impressed by the packaging and how organized all of the brownies were, and i was even more impressed by how all of them tasted. i had a couple friends try them as well and were equally impressed by the overall quality of the brownies, how different each flavor was so that you could not mistake one flavor for another. the chocolate cherry was my personal favorite, while the snickerdoodle was my friends personal favorite. none of them were bad by any means (unless you arent a coffee fan with the espresso roast flavor). overall 10/10 brownies. will be purchasing again.
