King's Hawaiian Bakery, West Inc. Introduce
Introduction / Overview
King’s Hawaiian is a globally recognized, family-owned and operated bakery that brought the irresistible taste of its Original Hawaiian Sweet Bread to the mainland United States. The company’s story of success began in Hilo, Hawaii, in the 1950s under the original name Robert’s Bakery. Driven by the "Aloha Spirit"—an expression of caring and sharing—founder Robert R. Taira expanded the beloved brand to the mainland in 1977, establishing its first factory in Torrance, California, for bread production.
The King’s Hawaiian Bakery, West Inc. location at 19161 Harborgate Way in Torrance, CA, serves a vital and distinct role within the company's structure. This facility is the company’s major production site, corporate office, and headquarters in California, a central hub for manufacturing the famed sweet rolls and bread distributed across the country. It is essential for local Californians and business partners to recognize the difference between this expansive manufacturing and corporate site and the company’s retail-focused locations, such as the King's Hawaiian Bakery & Restaurant and The Local Place Bakery & Café, which are the consumer-facing points for purchasing fresh bakery items and Hawaiian cuisine in Torrance. The Harborgate Way address is the engine that drives the mass production and nationwide distribution of King's Hawaiian products.
This impressive facility, opened in 2004, is a large-scale operation dedicated to housing the bread manufacturing lines that operate 24 hours a day, the operating teams, and the company's innovations kitchen. It is a testament to the brand's expansive growth since its humble beginnings in Hilo and its commitment to ensuring that every Californian grocery store can stock its famously soft, slightly sweet products.

Had to pick up a load at 11pm checked in an hour early.. was greeted by very nice dock workers for trailer inspection ( make sure your trailer is clean).. checked in by the door under the trees.. given a door immediately… They even gave us some Hawaiian Rolls!! Very nice and professional people here. It’s a little tight getting in dock due to employee parking in front of docks, but got lucky at night because there’s not as many cars parked here during night shift!!

April 16 · Karanpreet SinghBakery-café with fresh malasadas and hawaiian rolls that are still warm. The spam musubi and chicken katsu plate are dependable favorites. Service is fast even when the line stretches out the door. Plenty of parking in the lot and a drive-thru for pastries. Great stop before hopping on the 110
