LA Chouquette Introduce
For California residents, particularly those navigating the eclectic and trend-setting streets of Los Angeles, finding an authentic slice of European culinary tradition is always a treasure. **LA Chouquette**, nestled on the iconic Melrose Avenue, stands out as a premier **Pastry shop** that transports patrons directly to the chic patisseries of Paris. Founded by a young Parisian couple, this establishment is dedicated to bringing the genuine flavors and master craftsmanship of French baking to Southern California, a mission customers report they achieve with flying colors.
The name "Chouquette" itself refers to a classic French confection—a small, airy choux pastry puff sprinkled with pearl sugar—which is a delightful embodiment of the shop’s dedication to simple, elegant, and perfectly executed desserts. However, LA Chouquette’s reputation extends far beyond its namesake. It has quickly become a haven for lovers of **viennoiseries**, the rich, layered breakfast and tea pastries that define French baking. From the moment one steps inside, leaving behind the "busy hectic street," the atmosphere shifts to one that is described as "simple and gorgeous," creating a serene backdrop for indulging in "great dessert."
While its primary classification is a **Dessert** destination and a **Pastry shop**, its robust menu of croissants, savories like **Quiches**, and coffee offerings confirm its role as a full-spectrum French cafe experience. The quality of the ingredients and the precise execution are frequently cited as the reason why customers are willing to embrace the "pricier side," unanimously agreeing that the experience is "totally worth it." It is recognized by local guides as the "best place on Melrose for a good, decadent, authentic French croissant," showcasing its mastery of the craft.
LA Chouquette benefits from a highly visible and centrally located address in one of Los Angeles’ most famous corridors. The shop is located at **7350 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046, USA**, placing it firmly within the energetic, creative heart of the city, easily accessible from Hollywood, West Hollywood, and Fairfax areas. This location on Melrose Avenue means it is perfectly situated to capture both destination visitors seeking out a top-tier bakery and local residents running their daily errands.
The proximity to major urban routes makes it a convenient stop for locals. While on-street parking in the area can be challenging, a quick visit for **Takeout** is made seamless by the shop's efficiency. The bakery caters to all members of the community by ensuring proper physical access. A key feature is the **Wheelchair accessible entrance**, allowing all patrons to enjoy the delicious offerings without impediment.
Customers planning a visit should be aware that LA Chouquette's popularity can mean a rush, especially for the most coveted items. One review noted, "Coming right at their last hour was surely my mistake. Yeah as you might have expected, I could barely see anything left," suggesting that early mornings are the best time to experience the full array of fresh pastries. Although seating might be limited, the quality of the product makes it an ideal spot to grab and go for a moment of indulgence.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Coming right at their last hour was surely my mistake. Yeah as you might have expected, I could barely see anything left. But being around the area just triggered me to try my luck in case I got some nice findings! It's interesting that the moment you entered the bakery, it felt like totally different vibes from the busy hectic street where it's located. Simple and gorgeous. As per my usual, my most go-to for first trial would be almond croissant. Call me lucky, I got the last one and it's even no more on the showcase so great that I asked! Despite surviving the day, which I could imagine the pastry had sit for hours there, it's still crispy and flaky. The almond paste inside was luscious and came in right proportion. Plenty of crunchy almond on top, which was surely the creme de la creme. Would probably give it a 5 star if only I had it reheated and enjoyed it warm.
August 10 · Jessica GabrielaFlaky and buttery pastries! Raspberry and raisin swirls were amazing, nutella filled pastry was to die for. Almond croissant needs a little work it was not as flaky as the other pastries.Little on the pricier side but totally worth it.
May 10 · G R.Cute little French bakery with delicious baguettes 🥖 and viennoiseries 🥐 and at very competitive prices for the quality that you get especially in LA! The pastries were almost all sold out when we got there but we be back to try more of those. Merci to the sweet staff & keep up the yummy work;)
October 09 · CéliaSaw a review on TikTok about this being the best (only) place in LA where you can get the most authentic pain au chocolat. It's around $5, however it's a fairly decent size compared to other places and exquisite taste! Definitely recommend.
September 15 · C CWe sat outside and enjoyed our pastries and desserts. They have a long cinnamon stick that is delicious. Croissant is delicious as well but the desserts were a little heavy. My preferences were the croissant cinnamon stick. Not a lot of seating and the seats are metal. I’m not very comfortable.
