For generations of Mainers, the aroma of freshly baked goods conjures up images of warmth, comfort, and tradition. In the heart of Lewiston, there's a place that has embodied this feeling for nearly a century: Labadie's Bakery. More than just a place to grab a treat, Labadie's is a true community cornerstone, deeply rooted in the history and flavors of Maine. From its humble beginnings in 1925, this bakery has grown into a local legend, a testament to enduring quality and beloved recipes.
Labadie's Bakery has been a fixture at 161 Lincoln Street in Lewiston, Maine, since its inception. This location, historically known as "Little Canada" due to the influx of French-Canadian immigrants who worked in the area's shoe manufacturers and textile mills, holds significant cultural importance. The bakery's presence here for so long has woven it into the fabric of the community. Its central spot makes it a convenient stop for many in Lewiston and surrounding towns. Whether you're coming from work, running errands, or simply looking for a sweet escape, Labadie's is easily accessible. While specific parking details aren't widely publicized, customers often find street parking nearby or utilize a close parking garage, ensuring a hassle-free visit. This accessibility helps maintain its status as a go-to spot for daily delights.
Labadie's Bakery offers a wide array of baked goods, crafted with care and tradition. Their commitment to quality has kept customers returning for decades.
Whoopie Pies: The undisputed star of Labadie's, these iconic treats are more than just a dessert; they're a piece of Maine history. Labadie's Bakery proudly claims to have sold Maine's first whoopie pie, with their original recipe remaining unchanged since 1925. Available in classic chocolate with creamy filling, and sometimes other variations like peanut butter or vanilla, these are a must-try for any visitor or local. They even offer a 12-inch Whoopie Pie Cake for special occasions!
Cream Rolls: Another highly popular item, Labadie's cream rolls are a delightful pastry, often mentioned alongside their whoopie pies as a local favorite.
Doughnuts: Customers frequently rave about the fresh, delicious doughnuts available, perfect for a morning treat or an afternoon pick-me-up.
Éclairs: For those who appreciate classic French pastries, Labadie's éclairs are a well-loved choice, known for their rich filling and delicate pastry.

February 20 · R CBought a peanut butter whoopie pie from a gas station opened the packaging and it had a horrible chemical smell and gave it 1 bite and yep had a heavy chemical taste. Needless to say it went out the car window
May 10 · Samuel Rice (Smothcrn1)Cute little bakery that is supposed to be the first one to commercialize whoopie pies, the state staple. We only tried the whoopie pies but everything looked great!
October 12 · Arthur MolinesDelicious Food and Amazing ServiceFree coffee on Mondays
July 01 · Atsirhc ArumikI haven't visited the bakery but I purchased a pre packaged cream horn at a local store. My first bite was a big disappointment. The cream filling had a chemically taste and the horn itself was very thick and not flaky at all. I cautiously tried 2 more bites then threw the rest away. Hopefully the bakery fare is more palatable, but I will definitely stay away from anything pre packaged from this company.
