Leavity Bread & Coffee Introduce
Introduction / Overview: A Utah Gem for Artisan Sourdough and Coffee Lovers
Utah locals are fortunate to have a dedicated spot for genuinely artisanal bread and meticulously brewed coffee in the heart of Salt Lake City: Leavity Bread & Coffee. More than just a simple bakery or cafe, Leavity represents a passion project born from the owner, Todd Bradley's, transformative experience with traditional, long-fermented sourdough during a trip to Europe. After years of perfecting the craft, his dream of sharing this superior, gut-friendly bread—made with organic, heirloom, and whole grains—with the community has become a reality. The name "Leavity" itself is a clever combination of "leavened," referring to the natural slow-fermentation process, and "levity," meaning lightness and fun, which perfectly captures the spirit of the establishment.
This unique establishment functions as a triple threat: a dedicated Bakery producing loaves of exceptional quality, a welcoming Cafe offering a selection of light fare, and a top-tier Coffee Shop serving locally roasted, specialty beverages. Leavity has quickly established a reputation for its commitment to quality ingredients, long fermentation times (up to 20 hours for some breads), and genuinely warm customer service, making it a worthy destination for anyone in the Utah region seeking a wholesome and uplifting culinary experience.
The focus is clear: to offer a healthy, delicious alternative to mass-produced bread, catering especially to those who may have trouble digesting conventional wheat products (though not a substitute for medical advice for celiac disease). Their commitment extends to sustainability, as they source organic and heirloom flours from farms prioritizing regenerative agriculture, ensuring that your choice supports both your health and the environment. This dedication to craft and community is what sets Leavity Bread & Coffee apart in the bustling Salt Lake City food scene.

- Long-Fermented Sourdough Expertise: The core offering is their naturally leavened, long-fermented sourdough bread, a process that breaks down starches and proteins, resulting in a deep, complex flavor and a product that is often better tolerated by those with gluten sensitivities (non-celiac). The owner was inspired by the European baking style, and the result is a superior loaf.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Our hotel was across the street from Leavity Bread and Coffee. My rating of our hotel catapulted to 5 stars because if its proximity to Leavity. When we saw the owner Todd’s introduction on the website, we knew we had to go there. Todd was inspired to bake long fermented sourdough when he visited Europe. He has perfected the art. OMG. We bought a loaf of the cranberry walnut sourdough and it was amazing. We also had avocado toast and a raspberry chocolate scone. We went two days in a row. Kendra and Quest were so friendly and accommodating and they made excellent Americanos. While we were eating, Todd came out and checked on us to see how everything was. We were so pleased to meet Todd in person! Leavity Bread and Coffee is a destination worthy of a trip. We loved it so much.
July 12 · Larry KnappWhile I have enjoyed their bread for some time now, I only recently discovered the retail space for Leavity and it is an absolute gem! The crew was so warm and welcoming, which made my first visit a pleasure. The space is spotless — both the kitchen and the storefront shine with care. The bread is consistently fresh and delicious, and their coffee is rich, smooth, and perfectly brewed. My visit here was refreshing and uplifting. Highly recommend for anyone who loves great food, great coffee, and genuinely friendly service! I will be back!
September 14 · James BrimleyLeavity Bread & Coffee was amazing!! I went in to get some work done and found both the staff and atmosphere to be lovely. I ordered an iced matcha latte and the “pig and fig” sandwich and both were delicious. The sandwich in particular is something special, and will definitely have me coming back. If you’re in the area (or not!) definitely make the stop here
June 24 · Kallin GlauserCame here because of the good reviews. But was disappointed. Had the fig and pig sandwich. The bread is good. But it's a mostly bread sandwich with thin amount of meat and veggies that was covered in balsamic. All we could taste was bread and balsamic vinegar. Not worth the price.cashier was not very helpful and didn't seem like they wanted to be there. His Customer service needs work. Coffee was descent. But I won't go back.
September 12 · melialvarez23Quiet on a Saturday morning which was a wonderful surprise. We got the Pig & Fig sandwiches and their scone, which were both delicious. Very generous portions! Coffee was great and reasonably priced.
