Levain was packed with a line almost out the door at 9pm on a Tuesday. It maintained that pace for the 30 minutes that we were there. We got a lemon, and fudge cookie. The cookies were very good, though I thought they were almost too sweet, and too subtle on flavor, especially on the lemon cookie. The buttery flavor was intense in a good way though. Both came out of the oven and were hot with melted chocolate. It was so good though it breaks easily. We also bought two to bring home in the UK. They were harder the day after but still very good. I just wished the place had more seats available to have a sit.

One of the best bakery EVERThe cookies are unique, really giant but soft. The staff is warm and friendly and the place itself gives off wonderful vibes. Absolutely a must if you’re in NYC.

I tried every cookies. When I had it right away, the outside was crispy, while the inside was soft and gooey. After a day, the texture became firmer and crunchier overall. Both versions were enjoyable. The sweetest one was the 'Two Chip Chocolate Chip,' and the least sweet was the 'Oatmeal Raisin.' My top recommendation is the 'Coconut and Caramel' for its excellent flavor balance. Even though my family doesn’t usually like coconut, everyone agreed this was the best one. Personally, I also loved the 'Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter,' but it was too sweet to finish in one sitting. Definitely worth trying at least once.
