July 20 · Ct PhamI’m Asian, so I usually don’t trust non-Asian pastry shops since they tend to be way toooooo sweet for my taste—but this spot is different. The lobster tail is super crispy, and the chocolate cream is rich and flavorful without being overly sweet. The apricot almond cake reminds me of something I used to have back home—very lemony and fresh. As for the Napoleon cake, it’s not bad, just not my favorite compared to the other two
May 20 · N CHOUThis place is a New Haven institution. I am 46 years old and my family has been coming here religiously my entire life and before. The Italian pastries are outstanding. Yesterday, Christmas Eve, we bought a dozen pastries and two dozen cookies. Everything was perfect except the cannolis. The shells were burned and hard and not the typical light and flaky. The shells were actually brown they were so dark. I’m assuming this was a one off since it’s the holidays but I was disappointed to see it. I still highly recommend this bakery but check your pastries before you leave.
December 25 · KateStopped in to grab some pastries for a weekend in New Haven and found myself stepping into an old-school bakery straight out of a time capsule. The moment you walk through the door, you’re ambushed—in the best way possible—by the intoxicating aroma of sugar and anisette, practically dragging you toward the pastry cases like a dessert-loving siren. Then comes the sensory overload. Biscotti—three kinds, because one is never enough. Pasticiotti, eclairs, cream puffs—each one calling out like a contestant in a pastry pageant, vying for my attention. It’s the kind of place where you suddenly find yourself justifying why you absolutely need a dozen pastries for a two-day trip.We played it somewhat reasonable (or so I told myself) and grabbed a pound of anisette biscotti—because what’s better than dipping one of those into a hot cup of coffee? Answer: nothing. Also couldn’t resist a ricotta pasticiotti and a shot of espresso for good measure. It was the perfect pit stop after a few slices of New Haven apizza for lunch—because in a city like this, you chase carbs with more carbs..
February 16 · Frank ZoccoOur son discovered this place on social media, so we decided to stop by to grab a few treats. This spot has a nostalgic vibe that harks back to the days when service truly mattered. One unique feature is how they string-tie your box and loop it up to the ceiling—a charming touch that shows their dedication to preserving history.Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to photograph the pastries because my son devoured them before I could snap a pic! They were fresh and sweet, definitely worth the stop. We also tried the chocolate and lemon Italian ices. While they weren’t quite like the ones in Philly, they were still a refreshing treat on a warm day.Overall, a delightful experience that combined great service with tasty treats!
