★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Hmm! We got four different things to try: yellow chocolate cake, strawberry cake, yellow chocolate cupcake and strawberry cupcake. Let’s start with the price - the cakes were $10 and the cupcakes were $5, which is bananas. The cashier was polite when a question was asked, but other than that there was no greeting, thank you for coming or have a nice day. I was so excited to try the yellow chocolate cake because it’s my absolute favorite, but it was not good or worth $10. It was super sweet and didn’t take like a homemade cake. It’s hard to describe the texture of it. I ate two bites and trashed mine. My husband felt the same way. My daughters enjoyed the cupcakes- I didn’t try those. I prob won’t try this place again, but the slices are pretty huge for the price.
July 24 · Markisha D. WallWe recently celebrated a 90’s themed birthday party, and the cake and cupcakes were absolutely perfect! I requested a German chocolate cake with cyan blue, bold lettering and fun 90’s decorations, and it turned out even better than I imagined. For the cupcakes, I asked for vanilla with blue icing, some with “30” and others with the Virgo sign, and they were such a hit. The cupcakes disappeared within minutes, and I honestly wish I had ordered two dozen because everyone was raving about how delicious they were. The communication from Shane and the entire team was excellent from start to finish. I also had the pleasure of meeting Madam B, who was so kind and wonderful to work with. Thank you all for going above and beyond to make the process so smooth and the final product so memorable. You truly helped make the celebration extra special!
August 28 · W M-KI got the last slice of “lemon pound cake” which had not a bit a lemon flavor AT ALL! I don’t want to tear down a local business but I want to be honest. It was OVERWHELMINGLY flavored with almond and had a weird after taste. The texture was like chewy/gummy/wet…. I don’t how to explain it but it was a weird texture (I’m guessing from the syrup to keep it moist?), but it made the texture dissatisfying. Lastly let me say that $10 for a slice of cake is ridiculous. Lemon pound cake is my fave and a traditional flavor/style of cake so I figured IF I was going to spend $10 that it would be the safest choice. I was wrong. Most home made slices from a bakery will cost $6-$8, so I was surprised about the price and 🤏🏾 close to walking out, but had heard so much about it, made the trek, and saw them on IG and wanted to give it a try so that I won’t have to always travel to Durham for a great piece of cake. I wound up throwing the cake away when I got home. It wasn’t good. I know that I will not be back any time soon, and y'all need to lower your prices. And $5 for a cupcake is ridiculous too. But the young lady was very sweet and the place was clean.
July 06 · Pretty Girl,Inc!I was ready to love this local bakery. It looked cute and drew me in while I was waiting for my food at the Korean restaurant nearby. Unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The atmosphere was cute, but it was very warm inside which kind of bothered me since it’s 101 today and the poor girl had to work with little to no air. Also, it bothers me that product like cookies and cake are stored at this temp. Some items are refrigerated but not everything. The strawberry lemonade cake looked good and it was going to try the biscoff as well. That is until I was I firmed that each b slice was over $11! With tax. These are average cake slices and average looking cake. Honestly, I wanted to just walk away, but there were no customers and I really wanted to support this local business. I also bought 1 small strawberry cookie. I was ready to buy 4 so I could get a few for my nephew, but when she did they were $3.25 each, I decided one is all I could afford. It is good that I did not get more as they were not fresh and lacked flavor. They were dry and stale. I could tell they had been sitting for a while. Either that , or they were just bad. Also, the cake left a lot to be desired. I read another review and the lady described my experience perfectly: they added some kind of syrup to keep it moist. This was overdone and the cake tastes almost gummy. It had a lot of artificial flavor and was not good. Overall, the lack of freshness and excessive pricing led me to choose to give a negative review. You can only charge those prices ( especially in an area like this) for incredible desserts. I wish they were and that I could give a better review. I do believe that this place can redeem itself by only selling fresh product, keeping the air on for the workers and customers and Lorri g prices to a fair rate for the product.I wish them better days. But at $15 for a cake slice and small cookie, I was NOT impressed!
June 27 · Lindsay SandineI wish I could share a picture of my favorite cake/cakes but they’re happily in my Belly. Please don’t listen to the people who complain about cost and their non seasoned taste buds all of the reviews they give are negative. Ok back to Madame B’s… It’s like your grandma is in the kitchen making deserts for her favorite grandchild. These deserts are made with Love and from scratch. Definitely give them a try if you regret it it’s because your tastebuds are unseasoned or you didn’t want to play for a top notch gourmet dessert.
