What is Worth Choosing
For anyone in the Florida region, particularly those in or near Tampa, Maikel's Florida Bakery represents a significant choice for authentic Cuban and Latin American cuisine. What makes this establishment particularly worth choosing is its dual role: a daily destination for morning routines and a specialist for celebratory occasions.
Firstly, the bakery is an essential stop for a classic Cuban breakfast. The combination of a perfectly prepared Cafe con Leche—a creamy, rich coffee with milk—paired with a savory item like a Croqueta de Jamon or a sweet, flaky Pastelito de Guayaba y Queso (guava and cheese pastry) is a quintessential Tampa experience. These specific items, especially the Croquetas, have a strong local reputation, indicating a consistency and adherence to traditional preparation that resonates deeply with the community. Secondly, the bakery’s capability as a dedicated 'Wedding bakery' means that the same commitment to quality ingredients and traditional flavors is channeled into custom cakes for major life events, providing a local, culturally relevant option for celebrations.
While the business has faced some scrutiny from long-term patrons regarding changes in certain menu details or the pricing of basic condiments, the overall consensus is that Maikel's Florida Bakery remains an important and valuable part of the local food landscape. The sheer depth of the menu, extending beyond simple pastries to full sandwiches (including the Tampa classic Cubano) and party platters, ensures that there is a traditional, satisfying choice for every meal and every customer need. Choosing this bakery is not just choosing a meal; it’s engaging with a slice of Tampa’s enduring culinary and cultural history.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Been coming here since i was a young kid, almost 40 now. Always get my Cafe con leche if i am near by.Lots of selection of sweets, breads and pastries all of all kinds. Coquetas de Jamon here are maybe the best in The Bay! Was not satisfied that they are charging for all the condiments on your Sandwich Cubano. Lettuce, Tomatoes, even pickles are all extra charges!!! Times are difficult but these are basic condiments on a Cubano and don’t think charging for lettuce is necessary and the other stuff. So at this pace a $.69 Lettuce ball will yield around $30 for them. The amount on a sandwich is just enough to give sandwich a little crunch but no need for the charges. Que eliminen esos cargos, pienso que estan fuera de lugar. Un Cubano por favor- Lechuga, Tomate? Si o No? ok… mismo precio! I ya!!!!Update: the Quesitos used to be the best and only the best in The Bay! I usually order 20-30 at one time every time i come, i picked up 12 today and not happy with them. The cheese was all dried up and not enough sugar on top as they used to do with the original owners used to do. I loved them because they had real cream cheese and was more a spread. These looked more like crumbled bread crumbs or like brown sugar texture wise, clumpy and dried cheese. Was not too happy to have bought so many. Fix them please or you will loose a very loyal customer or over 25 years!!!!
September 17 · A BrianThe worst cuban sandwich in the USA. I realize that in home, because my order was to go.. disgusting quality, this place wouldn't ever be the same. I remembered 10 years ago. Mikel dosen't deserve to run this business 😤
August 31 · Jorge ArmelyAbsolutely love the food here! Up until a couple of years ago it was my go-to for a quick breakfast. Sometimes they offer specials two loaves of fresh Cuban bread for a dollar who can beat that!So many pastries it's hard to choose and all of them delicious.I've moved an hour away but every time I'm in Tampa make sure to stop.
June 21 · HOLLY WCustomer service was horrible. I ordered my item within 24 hours and try to get a refund because it wasn’t ready. and they did not want to refund only store credit. Won’t recommend this place for no one party unless you’re having breakfast
August 01 · Gilmary MaderaI stepped into this bakery, looked at all the desserts, and smiled like a kid in a candy store! From fluffy pastries to designer cakes, fruit filled sweets, and everything in-between, this is a MUST place to visit. You haven't had dessert until you have been to the Florida Bakery. Exceptional taste, quality, quantity, and service.
