Market Bakery Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Market Bakery is more than just a single baker’s stall; it is a vital nexus for the very best of Philadelphia’s bread and pastry traditions, conveniently housed within the historic and beloved Reading Terminal Market. For local Pennsylvanians, this bakery is a true culinary cornerstone, acting as a curated showcase for artisan breads, fresh-baked rolls, and delectable pastries sourced from some of the city's most respected local producers. When you visit Market Bakery, you are not just choosing one shop, but tasting a harmonious selection of Philly's finest baked goods, all under one roof.
This establishment has solidified its reputation among Philadelphia locals as the quintessential destination for starting the day right. They are widely celebrated for serving up hearty, made-to-order breakfast sandwiches that are legendary within the market, perfect for fueling a busy workday or a weekend of exploring. The consistent, high-quality offering—from the savory bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel to the delightful specialty sandwiches—ensures a long line, which, as local patrons frequently note, moves with impressive speed. For those in a rush or looking for a quick and satisfying bite, Market Bakery is a seamless, must-visit component of the Reading Terminal Market experience. It’s a dependable source of flavor and comfort, offering an accessible way to enjoy the deep-rooted baking culture that thrives in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Location and Accessibility
Market Bakery is situated within one of Pennsylvania’s most treasured historic landmarks: the Reading Terminal Market. Its physical address is 1136 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107, USA. This placement is strategically ideal for accessibility, making it an extremely easy destination for locals across Philadelphia and the greater region. Even for Pennsylvania residents driving into the city, the bakery is centrally located near parking garages that serve the convention center area. The vibrancy and energy of the Reading Terminal Market, coupled with the bakery’s easy-to-find spot inside the bustling hall, create an atmosphere that is uniquely Philadelphian and incredibly convenient for a quick visit. It stands as a true destination point for quality food accessible to all of Pennsylvania.

Features / Highlights
Market Bakery is distinguished by several key features that set it apart within the competitive Philadelphia food market, especially inside the iconic Reading Terminal Market.
- Best of Local Baking in One Spot: A central feature is its role as a vendor for multiple acclaimed local bakeries, including Le Bus Bakery and Liscio's Bakery. This allows customers to purchase multiple high-quality, local artisan products without visiting several separate stores.
- Renowned Breakfast Sandwiches: Market Bakery has garnered local praise, often being called “the place for a breakfast sandwich at the Market.” Customer reviews specifically highlight the generous use of ingredients, such as “going heavy on the bacon,” and the delightful combination of flavors in specialty items like the "Early Bird" sandwich.
- Efficient Service: Despite the perpetual lines common in the market, customers frequently compliment the staff’s speed, noting that the queue “moves fast.” This efficiency makes it an excellent choice for a "Quick visit," which is a key planning feature of the business.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This for breakfast is GOATED. Very filling, very delicious, they go heavy on the bacon which I appreciate and love. the coffee is ok but the bagels are soo good. Lines are a bit long but they move fast. It can hard to find seating but hey, youre in reading terminal so what can you do.
September 11 · Alex MartinezThe place for a breakfast sandwich at the Market. I got the "Early Bird" on a baguette. The combination of sweet roasted red peppers, savory pesto and the delightfully smoky bacon is soo good. There's always a line, but don't let that intimidate you, it moves fast. And don't forget to get some delicious baked goods to go!
August 02 · Stephanie MogaGot a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese. Both were very good.Service is very good. It looks like they have a lot of delicious stuff. I will be back to try a muffin
July 29 · M LabadiThis is the best sandwich ever! 😋 Chefs kiss! That #18 Turkey Pesto—peppers, onions, a little mayo, and some cheese (I forgot what kind, but it doesn't matter!)—on toasted bread (inside out for extra crunch!). OMG, see ya tomorrow!
March 27 · Ms. BGood experience at Market Bakery located in the Reading Market.I got a turkey sausage, egg & cheese on whole grain bagel. The service was extremely friendly at the register.Everything is take out, but there are tables located throughout the building. My sandwich was huge! Taste was pretty good and was more than I could even eat.Market offers a lot of variety in their menu, especially breads. I think there is something for everyone to find from the menu. The staff keeps extremely busy and are hard working. When I jumped in line it was long and they worked quick. Total line time was 10 minutes tops.I would recommend.
