Mochi in Lakewood Introduce
The establishment known locally as Mochi in Lakewood, operating under the name Stixx & Dough (and part of the broader Mochinut network), provides a distinctive, modern bakery experience right here in Washington State. It is not a conventional bakery; rather, it is a specialty food destination that has successfully blended Japanese mochi tradition with American donut style and popular Korean street food concepts. This fusion has resulted in a truly unique offering that has captured the attention of local Washington residents seeking novel and high-quality treats.
The primary draw is the signature Mochi Donut. Unlike traditional yeast or cake donuts, these are crafted using rice flour, which imparts a distinctly dense, soft, and chewy texture, often described as a “pon de ring” shape that makes them fun to pull apart and enjoy one piece at a time. This unique texture is what sets the Lakewood bakery apart, delivering a truly unique dessert experience in the area. The positive feedback consistently notes that the donuts are "tasty" and that there is visible "care that go in to them," reinforcing the specialty, artisan nature of the product.
However, Mochi in Lakewood is more than just a donut shop. The menu also prominently features savory and adventurous offerings, most notably the trendy Korean Rice Dogs, alongside a full selection of specialty drinks, including coffee and Boba. This dual focus ensures the bakery is a satisfying stop for both sweet cravings and substantial savory snacks. The environment supports a digital-first approach, prioritizing the speed and convenience of takeout and delivery, which aligns perfectly with the fast-paced lifestyle of many Puget Sound area residents. While the food quality shines, the operational focus on digital ordering and certain cleanliness aspects, as reported by some customers, are points of note that contribute to the overall experience.
Location and Accessibility
Mochi in Lakewood is strategically situated at 8730 S Tacoma Way #102, Lakewood, WA 98499, USA. This address places the bakery in a highly accessible commercial hub, making it a convenient stop for locals throughout Tacoma, Lakewood, and the surrounding communities in Pierce County. Its location on South Tacoma Way ensures ease of access whether arriving from nearby neighborhoods or traveling through on a longer commute.
Accessibility for all community members is a key consideration for this establishment. The premises include a dedicated Wheelchair accessible parking lot. This feature is critical for ensuring that all patrons, including those with mobility challenges, have a straightforward and convenient experience from the moment they arrive. While the specific building entrance details are not specified, the provision of accessible parking is a clear step toward community inclusivity.
While the exterior and location are convenient, it is worth noting a point of feedback regarding the interior environment. Some customers have expressed disappointment with the cleanliness of the interior, specifically noting "extremely sticky and dirty" floors and walls that appeared unkempt. For local patrons, this is an important piece of context, suggesting that while the location is easy to get to, the internal atmosphere may not always match the quality of the food. Many customers choose to utilize the takeout or delivery services offered, which allows them to enjoy the excellent product from the comfort of their home or vehicle, mitigating the impact of the noted interior issues.
Services Offered
The service model at Mochi in Lakewood is geared toward efficiency and convenience, embracing modern consumer demands for speed and accessibility through digital channels.

The staff, however, are consistently described as "friendly," suggesting that when face-to-face interaction does occur, it is pleasant. This service model effectively maximizes efficiency for volume transactions, ensuring quick access to the specialty items.

What is Worth Choosing
For customers in the Washington region, Mochi in Lakewood is worth choosing almost entirely for its exceptional, unique food product. The Mochi Donuts are the centerpiece, offering a textural experience—chewy, dense, and soft—that is distinctly different from any standard American bakery's fare. Customers highly praise the taste and the evident effort that goes into their preparation. This quality makes it a specialty destination, fulfilling a craving for a specific, Asian-inspired dessert that is not readily available elsewhere in the immediate Tacoma/Lakewood area.
The value is found in the specialty nature and uniqueness of the menu. While a review did suggest the donuts are "a bit expensive for what you're getting," they also immediately followed up by confirming the donuts are "tasty" and a "great choice for a donut" if you are in the area. This common consumer dilemma—higher price for high-quality, specialty goods—confirms that the product's quality justifies the cost for many. The decision to visit Mochi in Lakewood is a decision to prioritize culinary quality and novelty over certain environmental standards or traditional customer service styles. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The donuts are a bit expensive for what you're getting. They're tasty, dense and soft. There's lots of care that go in to them, but for reference, you can get a very large egg waffle/similar taste at these donuts from Let it Snow off 72nd that has the egg waffle covered in ice cream, chocolate and is really tasty for around the same price as a 3 pack of donuts from here. Just something to keep in perspective, and if you're in the area, it's a great choice for a donut.
November 11 · Mark NickelOverall pretty tasty donuts and corn dogs. However I give it the rating because the cleanliness of the interior was disappointing. The floors immediately upon entry were extremely sticky and dirty. Additionally, the walls looked like they hadn't been cleaned in days. Although the service staff were friendly, the kiosk experience though convenient took away the face to face customer experience. I speak as someone who worked in the service industry for many years. This place has potential for how good the donuts were, however the cleanliness/layout of the restaurant overshine the quality of the food.
June 04 · Eli WhitesellThis place is a definite YEAH to visit! Korean dogs with all the flavors. Doughnuts with all the flavors. I mean you can’t go wrong with stopping by this place. You place your order on a kiosk pay and then wait in your car for a text saying your order is ready. Usually only have to wait for the Korean Dogs not the doughnuts. The inside is pretty small so I don’t mind waiting in the car. They have a fancy wall for pictures if your into that kinda thing! Overall this place is LEGIT! If you are in the area stop by!
November 02 · Naté EliasSo glad there's a location closer to home!! The donuts are delicious and the Korean corn dogs amazing! 😋 Quick and friendly service! Highly recommend! The negative reviews people give about donuts and corndogs being sold out don't understand how businesses work. These small business make a certain amount and if customers get there too late, of course donuts will be limited. Get there early. I always try to.
October 30 · Latsamy YinEverything we have had here is delicious! Corn dogs are always fresh and hot, and donuts are so yummy! Strawberry cheesecake is my fave.
