NYC Birthday Cakes Introduce
Located in the heart of Middle Village, Queens, NYC Birthday Cakes has positioned itself as a local go-to for custom-designed confections. In a city where every celebration is a chance to make a statement, finding a bakery that can bring your vision to life is essential. This establishment specializes in creating personalized cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events. Their mission is to transform a simple dessert into a memorable centerpiece, a creation that is as delicious as it is beautiful. For residents of Queens and beyond, NYC Birthday Cakes offers a chance to add a unique, handcrafted touch to any celebration.
The bakery’s reputation is built on its ability to create cakes that are both visually stunning and incredibly tasty. A glowing review from a satisfied customer perfectly captures this essence: "NYC Birthday Cakes nailed it with this custom creation! The cake looked so good, I almost felt guilty eating it. With layers fluffier than a cloud and frosting smoother than a jazz saxophone solo, it was a hit at the party." This review highlights the two core strengths of the bakery: their aesthetic craftsmanship and the quality of their ingredients. The comparison of the frosting to a "jazz saxophone solo" is a creative and powerful way to describe its smoothness, indicating a high level of skill in their preparation. The customer also praises the ease of the process, noting that the team "made the whole process a piece of cake," which speaks to their customer service and communication. This positive feedback showcases the bakery's ability to not only meet but exceed expectations, leaving a lasting impression that encourages repeat business.
However, the customer experience is not always flawless, as evidenced by a contrasting review. A dissatisfied customer details a "horrific job," expressing frustration over a custom cake that they felt was "poorly crafted and not worth $70." This feedback highlights a crucial aspect of custom work: managing customer expectations and ensuring clear communication. The reviewer notes that they provided multiple sample images and emphasized specific details, but felt the final product was a "poor and version wannabe replica." The customer's disappointment with the size and a perceived lack of creative effort is a key takeaway. This review serves as a reminder that in a business centered on personalized service, every detail matters, and communication is paramount. The customer’s point about long-term value, stating they could have become a "dedicated customer order 4-5 times per year," underscores the importance of every individual interaction.
The contrasting feedback, though, provides a more complete picture of the business. While one customer had a phenomenal experience, another had a very negative one. The negative review details issues such as having to follow up multiple times for a quote and a disagreement over what was included in the price. The customer was particularly "pist off" about being "ripped off" and felt the baker did not listen to their specific requests, such as adding leaves and "hi" thought bubbles. This feedback, while critical, offers valuable insight into the challenges of a custom business and underscores the need for clear communication and setting realistic expectations. Conversely, the overwhelmingly positive review of the "fluffier than a cloud" cake suggests that when the process works well, the results can be truly spectacular. This range of feedback is a normal part of business and shows that NYC Birthday Cakes has the potential to deliver exceptional results, even while facing challenges in a few specific instances.

With layers fluffier than a cloud and frosting smoother than a jazz saxophone solo, it was a hit at the party. The team made the whole process a piece of cake—pun intended. Definitely coming back for more because you can’t have your cake and eat it too unless it’s from NYC Birthday Cakes!
July 01 · Chrisna JaneHorrific job. Dear owner, you need to think long term rather than short term when a customer orders. This cake was poorly crafted and not worth $70. A BJs cake would have been $20, larger, and more attractive looking. The reason I say think long term is because I could have become a dedicated customer order 4-5 times per year. Many of my favorite bakeries have closed down.1. Submitted a request for a quote. I had to call multiple times to follow-up.2. Uploaded various samples and explicitly told the bakery I want creativity like 👍 be seen on the site and provided multiple images of the theme of the cake. Bakery semi replicated a photo but poorly done. I also 3X emphasized adding the leaves and the “hi” thought bubbles. First photo is what I found in the internet. All other photos is the poor and version wannabe replica3. I provided sufficient notice. In fact, I called and said I’ll actually be picking up 2 hours later and they were pleased with the news.4. I requested the traditional icing scene in those Italian cakes. Not sure what I got.5. The size is not what was explained. Once again not worth $70.Tmrw is my sisters birthday and will be tasting the cake. Will provide an update on taste.Dear owner, you lost the opportunity of earning a dedicated customer. Think big picture, a job well done means raving reviews, referrals, and consistent cakes orders. Horrible and I’m pist off that I was ripped off.Viewers, first image is one of four photos provided.Bakery decided to just copy that image rather than come up with a creative idea from the collection of images.I also sent an email to complain. Baker claimed this is what I wanted and I didn’t want to pay for anything extra. I reminded him that I told him I didn’t Neal the pearls but that the leaves and hi thought bubbles were important to the show. I even jokingly said I don’t know why “hi” is important. I told him 3 times because I wanted him to remember the details.
August 04 · LuisaWhat you see, is not always what you get. For a very expensive cake, it was not worth it. The website sample cake and the cake I was given were different. Very important that you make sure your cake is the cake you order and not “similar “. As the recipient of the cake, I was not happy at all for a milestone birthday cake. The top was dark chocolate, there was no name and aged is spelt age. Very little lemon flavor as well. I would not recommend based on my experience.
May 09 · Cindy CarlsonI recently ordered a custom birthday cake from NYC Birthday Cakes, and it was fantastic! The dinosaur design was adorable and incredibly detailed. The cake not only looked amazing but also tasted delicious. The ordering process was smooth, and the team was attentive to my requests. I will definitely return for future celebrations. Highly recommend!
July 01 · Hannan SinarimboFor my daughter's sweet 16, she insisted on a specific cake in a specific color and size. NYC Birthday Cakes made her dream come true! The order process was extremely easy and I was able to provide a swatch so that they could match the color as best as possible. (color matching fondant is not easy - I've made cakes myself but didn't have the time now) We only had 40 people and 4 layers (6:, 8", 10" & 12") would have been too much cake. So, they made the top layer and bottom layer with a cake form instead of cake. The two middle layers were red velvet with cream cheese frosting and the vanilla with chocolate mousse. They were absolutely delicious!! The cake was delivered to the venue on time and as promised. These are truly professionals and I strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a special cake! (FYI - we bought the topper on our own)
