★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1really cute cafe for bubble tea and onigiri snacks at surprisingly reasonable prices. There are many bubble tea flavors to choose from (5$ for large cup- see photo) and onigiri (2.50$-3$). IMO the cold bubble teas are better and the seafood onigiri are fantastic. This place has become an addiction for me as I work in the area. They also accept apple pay for any amount but you have to pay taxes.the one con is that the ladies, who are all very nice, don’t speak much English.
March 02 · ShantaOhayo Bread House is my go-to spot for quick lunch in 8 Avenue, Brooklyn. This is where you can get a filling meal for less than $3.They have more than 25 flavors of riceballs according to my observation, including spam musubi. On the other side, they display freshly baked bread and egg tarts. They also have a full menu of drinks.*Butter Chicken Onigiri $2.75Their onigiri is large and dense, but of course it has way more rice than filling at this price point. I have been eyeing their butter chicken onigiri for a while, and it turned out to be my favorite. The sauce was flavorful. Although there wasn’t a lot of shredded chicken, it was enough to eat with the rice till my last bite.*Purple Rice Crab Salad Onigiri $2.75*Octopus Salad Onigiri $2.75The purple rice onigiri was still warm when I got it! The texture of purple rice was nice but the amount of crab salad was underwhelming, so as the octopus salad one.*Cranberry Cream Cheese Bun $2.75They had a lot of baked goods that interested me, like coconut coffee roll, dragonfruit mochi bun and black sesame chestnut roll (sold out when i visited). I got my hands on their cranberry cream cheese bun. The bread size was bigger than my palm. Such a shame that there was only less than 10% filling but it was still a good price afterall.***Get a discount if you pay in cash.
February 16 · Ruby ChanGreat grab and go spot for delicious onigiri and bakery items. We got a sampling of the onigiri, our favorites were the spicy tuna, beef sukiyaki, and of the baked goods we loved the coconut cream, Portuguese egg tart, and strawberry sponge cake.
March 11 · Jojo YeeOhayo Bread House in Sunset Park offers a delightful array of onigiri, mostly priced at $2.50. I sampled the soy-braised egg—deeply savory and delicious despite not being soft-boiled—and the beef sukiyaki, which was more traditional. A mochi-filled bread stood out for its fluffy texture and satisfyingly chewy center. I also picked up a Portuguese egg tart for $1.75—small, golden, and utterly delectable. A well-priced spread of comforting, well-crafted bites.
May 26 · Grace HuiThis is hands down the most ridiculous rice ball I’ve ever had. The packaging clearly said “Eel”rice ball. I opened it, expecting eel, but there was NO eel at all. Instead, it was just a random soy-braised egg inside. Who replaces eel with egg and thinks that’s acceptable? This is misleading at best and borderline fraud. For the price, I expected quality, not a cheap, flavorless mess. Disrespectful to customers. Avoid this product at all costs!
