Very yummy! Liked the bread loaf, ham and cheese, and chocolate chip cookie. Would skip the egg tart thing that I can’t write. A little expensive & 20% auto tipping is too much. We are just getting baked goods to go. - Jay

Ollini Introduce

Introduction / Overview

Ollini is not just another Bakery in Portland; it is the celebrated, dedicated 'little sister' shop to the highly-regarded Cafe Olli, born from a desire to significantly expand and elevate the pastry program. Located on NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Ollini has quickly cemented its status as a destination for Oregon residents seeking truly exceptional baked goods, artisanal bread, and a stellar coffee experience. By moving the entire pastry operation into its own space, Ollini has effectively “doubled the selection and varieties” available to local users, transforming it into a must-visit spot for both sweet and savory cravings.

The shop operates with a sharp focus on high-quality ingredients, utilizing local flours from respected Pacific Northwest mills like Camas Country Mill and Cairnspring Mills for their scratch-made breads. Patrons are drawn to a vast selection of laminated doughs and unique creations, from classic chocolate chip cookies and classic cake donuts to signature items like the “Pinwheels” and, most notably, the Kouign Amann—a caramelized, buttery masterpiece that has earned the title of one customer’s “all time favorite pastry hands down.” While the atmosphere is geared toward fast and friendly Takeout, providing grab-and-go salads and sandwiches for a quick, quality lunch, the true heart of the business lies in the beautifully executed pastry case that leaves customers with a delightful box of treats, often with “no idea how it happened.”

One distinct feature of the Ollini experience is its commitment to its team. While some patrons have noted that the prices are “a little expensive” and have questioned the 20% auto tipping policy for simple takeout, the bakery operates with a transparent and progressive approach. The auto-gratuity is applied to ensure that the employees receive “full benefits”, a policy many local customers appreciate and “personally love” as a way to support fair compensation and well-being within the local Portland food industry.

Location and Accessibility

Ollini is perfectly positioned in a convenient and bustling area of Portland at 3907 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, 97212. Situated just across the parking lot from its parent restaurant, Cafe Olli, the location in Northeast Portland is easily accessible from multiple neighborhoods, serving as a reliable hub for morning coffee and treats. The shop is specifically designed for convenience and ease of access.

Accessibility has been prioritized, with a clearly marked Wheelchair accessible entrance, ensuring all members of the Oregon community can easily visit. For those traveling by car, the bakery offers both a Free parking lot and ample Free street parking nearby, eliminating the stress of finding a spot in a busy city area. Inside, patrons will find a clean and essential Restroom. The checkout process is modern and flexible, accommodating all users with payment options including Credit cards and Debit cards.

What is Worth Choosing

For any Oregon resident or visitor, Ollini is worth choosing primarily for its unparalleled pastry selection and its deeply committed, ethical business model. This is where you go to indulge in the absolute best of Portland’s baking talent. Your first, non-negotiable choice should be the Kouign Amann. This caramelized, flaky, buttery confection is the shop’s signature item, earning rave reviews as a true standout.

Following that, a classic item is always a safe bet, and the ham and cheese croissant is frequently mentioned as a “killer” savory option, or you might opt for the classic cake donut which is described as the perfect pairing for one of their stellar, hot coffees. For those looking to bring a true artisan staple home, be sure to pick up the Everyday Loaf, a country-style sourdough made with local, quality flours.

While the automatic 20% service charge is a point of discussion for some, it is crucial to remember that this policy directly translates to full benefits for the employees. By choosing Ollini, you are choosing to support a Portland business that prioritizes its staff’s well-being while simultaneously delivering some of the most delicious and expertly crafted baked goods the city has to offer. It’s an easy decision for anyone who values both quality and community in their local bakery.

  • I'm so happy that Cafe Olli opened Ollini. The pastry program has doubled the selection and varieties from when it was out of the Cafe Olli space. The coffee drinks are also stellar. They have grab and go salads and sandwiches for a quick lunch, which is awesome but let's be real I go to load up on treats. My all time favorite pastry hands down is their Kouign Amann with a close second being the Pinwheels. I've had several variations and they've all been SO GOOD. They make a killer ham and cheese croissant and savory danishes. The classic cake donut really hits with a hot coffee. Every time I go I tell myself I'm only getting 1 or 2 pastries and then next thing I know I'm in my car holding a box of 6 pastries and I have no idea how it happened! People complain about the autograt but the 20% goes towards full benefits for the employees and I personally love that I know what it goes towards.

  • This is a great little cafe if you’re looking for high quality coffee, bread, and take away pastries. The pastries are always made the morning of and the space is super small so not a ton is made! When it’s gone, it’s gone for the day. It’s a very European cafe vibe, where you pick up your little treats and go sit in a park or walk through the neighborhood and look at people’s gardens. I die for the pasteis de nata!

  • I can’t believe this place doesn’t have a five star review overall. I just enjoyed the most incredible ice oatmeal cookie that was full of walnuts, delicious spices, dried cranberries, and dried oranges A+. I also enjoyed the savory danish which had beautiful local tomatoes, and a savory cheese and herb blend on the flaky pastry dough. Absolutely life changing! So good!

  • Small cafe that serves up tasty treats. I did not think the quality was up to the price and I dislike it when places that have counter service do an automatic tip/gratuity. Why do I need to tip for the person to simply ring me up and hand me a cookie? I might be ok with a tip of a dollar or two but an automatic tip on a top dollar cookie? I would much rather they raise the prices and simply pay the kitchen and counter staff more. I think I paid ~$18 for three cookies which in my book is too darn expensive. The cookies were fine and delicious though, but not worth $18. You can sit down at a nice restaurant and have a delicious dessert with someone waiting on you for less than that. This is becoming common place in the USA and it needs to stop. Also I was informed that you can only buy 2 of each pastry (I assume because this place is HYPED and they sell out quickly) but I think this is a terrible idea as it makes it so you cannot get a few cookies for you and your friends. When I said something that I was buying some cookies for my friends and I they made an "exception" and allowed me to buy three cookies. I would raise the prices or cut the fat so you do not have to charge so much. Maybe lower your operating budget or get a more affordable location. No parking, no tables, counter service. Meh all around.
