Pelham Delite Introduce
For residents of the Bronx, especially in the Pelham Bay area, having convenient local spots for a quick meal or a sweet treat is part of daily life. Pelham Delite, situated on Crosby Avenue, positions itself as one such establishment, aiming to provide a mix of bakery items and cafe fare to its neighborhood clientele. This local spot offers a range of options, from breakfast sandwiches to coffee and pastries, catering to various daily needs for a grab-and-go meal or a sit-down bite.
Pelham Delite appears to be a dual-purpose establishment, attempting to serve both as a traditional bakery and a casual cafe. This approach allows them to offer a broader menu, encompassing typical bakery staples alongside savory food items. Customers often visit for quick and convenient meals, with some items like poached eggs, avocado toast, and BLTs noted as having good taste. The availability of coffee is also a significant draw for those looking for a morning pick-me-up.
However, it's worth noting that customer experiences regarding service and the quality of certain baked goods have been mixed. While some food items receive praise, issues with service attentiveness, order accuracy, and the freshness of pastries and cookies have been raised. This suggests that while Pelham Delite provides a convenient option for quick meals, customers should set their expectations regarding consistency in service and certain bakery items. For those in the New York region seeking a local establishment with diverse offerings for a casual meal or a simple pastry, Pelham Delite in the Bronx offers a convenient, albeit potentially inconsistent, option to consider for your everyday needs.
Pelham Delite is located at 1650 Crosby Ave, Bronx, NY 10461, USA. This address places it within a residential and commercial section of the Bronx, specifically in the Pelham Bay area. Crosby Avenue is a known street in this part of the borough, typically featuring a mix of local businesses, residences, and community amenities. Its location aims to serve the immediate neighborhood, making it a convenient stop for residents of Pelham Bay and nearby areas within the Bronx, such as Throggs Neck, Country Club, or City Island.
Regarding accessibility, street parking is generally available along Crosby Avenue and in the surrounding blocks, which can be convenient for quick visits. However, as with many urban and suburban areas in New York City, parking availability can fluctuate, especially during peak hours. For those who rely on public transportation, Crosby Avenue is served by local MTA bus routes, with bus stops likely within a short walking distance of the establishment. Additionally, its proximity to major thoroughfares in the Bronx could make it accessible by car for those coming from slightly further afield. The integration of Pelham Delite into this local commercial strip means it's a natural and convenient stop for daily routines, whether it's for breakfast, lunch, or a quick coffee.
Pelham Delite offers a mix of bakery items and prepared foods, operating as both a bakery and a cafe. Their services aim to cover various meal times and preferences.
- Breakfast Sandwiches: Offering classic breakfast sandwich options such as egg and cheese, and likely with various meat additions.
- Prepared Savory Dishes: Includes items like poached eggs with avocado toast and BLT sandwiches, indicating a menu that extends beyond typical bakery fare to include light meal options.
- Coffee and Beverages: Providing coffee (noted as "great" by a customer) and likely other standard cafe beverages.
- Bagels: As part of a typical bakery offering, bagels would be available, though specific quality comments were not provided beyond the breakfast sandwich context.
- Pastries and Desserts: A selection of pastries and cookies. However, some reviews indicate concerns about freshness and taste (e.g., "dry" cookies, "stale" Greek pastry, "nasty taste" vanilla cookies).
- Custom Orders / Bulk Purchases: A customer inquired about the price per pound for cookies, suggesting they may offer bulk purchases of bakery items, though this might not extend to full custom cakes.
- Dine-in Service: The presence of a counter and tables indicates that customers can sit and eat their meals inside, even if service attentiveness might vary.
- Take-out Service: The nature of a bakery/cafe means take-out is a primary service, allowing for quick pickups.
Pelham Delite, as a local establishment in the Bronx, possesses several features that define the customer experience, although some highlight areas for potential improvement.
- Diverse Menu Offering: A notable feature is the combination of bakery items with savory cafe food. This allows customers to get breakfast sandwiches, lunch items (like BLTs or poached eggs with avocado toast), and sweet treats all in one place, providing convenience.
- Good Quality on Certain Food Items: Specific food items, such as poached eggs, avocado toast, and BLTs, have received positive comments regarding their taste, indicating that the kitchen can produce good savory dishes. The coffee has also been praised.
- Local Accessibility: Its location on Crosby Avenue in the Bronx makes it easily accessible for residents in the immediate Pelham Bay area, serving as a convenient neighborhood spot for daily needs.
- Affordable Pricing (Implied): While not explicitly stated for all items, the general impression from some comments about cookie pricing might suggest a focus on competitive local pricing, although opinions vary.
- Indoor Seating: The availability of seating allows customers to enjoy their meals on-site, which is a convenience for those who prefer to dine in rather than taking their food to go.
- Friendly Service (Mixed Reviews): While one review mentioned friendly service from some staff ("service is nice and everyone is friendly"), another highlighted significant issues with counter person attitude and attentiveness, indicating inconsistency in customer service.
- Product Freshness Concerns: A notable highlight from some reviews is concern over the freshness of certain bakery items, specifically cookies and Greek pastries being described as "dry" or "stale," suggesting variability in quality control for these products.
- No Refunds/Exchanges Policy: The stated policy of "no refunds or exchanges" for products is a significant feature that customers should be aware of before purchasing bakery items.

In conclusion, Pelham Delite serves as a local establishment in the Bronx, aiming to provide convenient food and bakery options for residents of the Pelham Bay area. For New Yorkers in this vicinity, its suitability as a local spot can be viewed through a practical lens, acknowledging both its conveniences and areas for improvement.
The primary advantage for locals is its **convenient location on Crosby Avenue**. This makes it an easily accessible spot for a quick breakfast, lunch, or coffee run within the neighborhood. The dual nature of offering both cafe-style savory dishes (like poached eggs and BLTs, which have received positive remarks for taste) and traditional bakery items means it can cater to various immediate needs for a meal or a treat, all in one place. This versatility can be a significant benefit for residents looking for a single stop for their daily food needs.
However, locals should approach Pelham Delite with clear expectations. While certain food items and coffee are praised for their quality, inconsistencies in service attentiveness and the freshness of some bakery products (like cookies and pastries) have been noted. The "no refunds or exchanges" policy is also an important detail for customers to be aware of. Despite these points, for those seeking a convenient, local spot for a quick and generally palatable breakfast or lunch, Pelham Delite can serve its purpose. It's the kind of neighborhood establishment that, while not without its quirks, remains a familiar part of the local landscape for everyday food and coffee needs in the Bronx.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Upon walking in, it took 5 mins to get service or any type of recognition upon sitting down the counter person or waitress was just giving us dirty looks throughout the whole time there. We had to ask for a menu. Ordered the food, and it came pretty quickly to ask for potched eggs and avocado toast. Received potched eggs and pieces of avocado on the side. Potched eggs were great. Coffee was also great. Blt was also good. Did not receive any napkins or water at all. The service was terrible, but the food was good. This review is based on service and the attitude of the waitress/counter person. The chef was the one who got us the menu
June 03 · HypebeasteatsnycDay after Mother’s Day. Went in to get an egg and cheese it was done in a minute although asked for a fresh sandwich. Where the cheese. There more bread then anything else. Then asked how much a lb is the cookies $15.00 a lb they are crazy when you can see the cookies are dry. While the service is nice and everyone is friendly. The pastries and cookies are often stale. They don’t back up there products says no refunds or exchanges. The Greek pastry I bought were stale. I bought some cookies that so much vanilla in it the nasty taste lingered in my mouth way too long. They started selling food now but the people who sit to eat are loud and outright rude. On the speaker phone screaming talking about how they have no money collecting stimulus check and spending buying a lonely tune shirt and getting nails done the other one on disability working off the books. Like I needed to know any of this. Workers said nothing

December 10 · Scarlet DToday, I bought a cake here to celebrate Mother’s Day with my family. The Vanilla Buttercream with Strawberries cake is great and perfectly done. Also, the Assorted Pastries option is great too. My only issue (which is why they received a four-star review) is how arrogant the person whom I spoke to over the phone. All I did was called to ask one question and she replied “Yeah, make it quick. I got things to do.” Sure, the bakery goodies are great and the Grubhub delivery too, but the aggravation of the receptionist killed my experience. Will I buy again? Most definitely. Will I call again before I order? Probably not.
May 10 · Julian SteveThe cakes used to be great. Now all the custard cakes taste HORRIBLE! They are stale and OLD, tasting completely nasty. Money and hopes down the drain. I don't know WTH happened to the custard in the custard cakes but it is an absolute DISAPPOINTMENT. The custard is now TERRIBLE, yuck! Please go back to the original custard recipes of 2-3 years ago! Please also sell fresh cakes. My son is Going to have to purchase elsewhere unless this problem is fixed.
