★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Some of the best bread I have had. Some friends and I came to go hiking and we stopped by this nice bakery because it had great reviews. THEY DO NOT LIE! met with amazing people and amazing food. HIGHLY recommend!!! If you're in the Schenectady area this is a MUST!
June 11 · Eric ConennaWhile this place is treasured by locals and a key part of the little Italy region in Schenectady it clearly hasn’t made any investments in building maintenance and modernization which makes you feel like getting in and out or not going at all. The bread is good but expensive. The service is prompt and friendly. The groceries are rare and high quality but sparse.
June 02 · charles pullanBiggest cupcakes this side of the Capitol Region.Use to come here monthly back when I lived in Schenectady to eat at the restaurant side of Perreca's, always picking up a cupcake for dessert on my way out. Since moving though I don't get to visit as much, but I'm glad to see they're still around and still making fantastic cupcakes!Bought two of their four varieties, the Carrot Cake and the Vanilla. They also have a chocolate and red velvet, but I'm unable to eat coca, so sadly can't partake of them. Comparable to Crumbl's price for their cookies, each cupcake was $5 for a total of $10 all together. Which might sound expensive, but you just have to see the size of these things, they're massive, and by the time you're done with one I very much doubt you'll have room for a second. So I find the price to be quite reasonable.Flavor-wise the carrot cake is packed with lots of bis of carrot and spice, with the cream cheese frosting on top working perfectly to provide just the right amount of sweetness to the more subdue pastry. As alluded to in my previous statement, I finished the one but couldn't move onto the vanilla without going overboard, but if it is like I remember then the cake will be more tender and fluffy than the carrot cake was and the frosting with be a bit on the less sweet side; more airy.I also see they recently celebrated their 100 year anniversary, so here's hoping they'll see another 100!
July 05 · iMacOfDeathWow! The guy who bakes the bread is the best ever! This is the best bread I've ever had. I'm a HUGE bread kind of guy. I'm super impressed with whoever makes it. I am booking a family trip back to New York JUST for the bread. I can't wait to come there and shake that young mans hand. Love you guys
January 26 · Cam BlanchThe best bread in the area… possibly the state… possibly the country? What’s left to say about the Italian bread made at Perreca’s Bakery? They’ve been doing it for almost 110 years now, since 1914. It’s one of those things you just know when you taste it. For me it’s that crunchy crust, there’s nothing better than using a slice of Perreca’s bread to clean your bowl of macaroni when you’re done. Legend has it that Jack Nicholson fell in love with the bread when shooting “Ironweed” in Albany. The story goes he gets it shipped to his house and demands any of his friends that visit upstate NY to pick up a loaf or two and bring it back to him.You could talk all day about the bread, but there’s so much more to Perreca’s. I tend to go to the store just for a loaf but end up with 3 or 4 more things. Their Tomato Pie is to die for, their pre-made sandwiches are always great, pasta Fagioli is amazing and usually sells out.At the end of the day Perreca’s is a crown jewel of Schenectady and something to be proud of. So many family run Italian stores are closing in the area and I hope Perreca’s stays for another 110 years!
