Pipeline Malasadas Introduce
Introduction / Overview: A Taste of the Islands in Southwest Las Vegas
For residents of Nevada seeking an authentic and unique sweet treat beyond the traditional donut, Pipeline Malasadas offers a true culinary escape. This isn't just another donut shop; it is the first dedicated malasada shop in Las Vegas, bringing the beloved Hawaiian fried pastry to the Ninth Island. Malasadas, which originated in Portugal and were made popular in Hawaii by Portuguese plantation workers, are essentially a delectable, hole-less donut—fried golden, gently crisp on the outside, and incredibly light and fluffy on the inside.
Pipeline Malasadas, founded by native Hawaiian Gayla Young, began its journey in 2015 in O'ahu, Hawaii, with a vision of creating a local neighborhood bakery focused on signature island flavors. The company has perfected a malasada recipe renowned for its beautiful crispy exterior and soft interior, notably avoiding the heavy, oily aftertaste often associated with fried dough. Customers consistently rave that these treats are made fresh for every order, ensuring the quality and warmth that is crucial to a perfect malasada.
The atmosphere at the Las Vegas location is intentionally casual and designed as a "quick grab-and-go concept," perfect for busy locals. Visitors immediately notice the Hawaiian Sun juices and the overall vibe that transports them back to the islands, truly embodying the spirit of Aloha right here in the 89113 zip code.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I live in the far Northwest part of the city; however, after recently learning (29 Jun 2025) about this business, my family and I had to try it out after our dinner. I also heard that this place switches flavors each month and since the liliko'i flavor was one of the June specials, we opted to come here before the start of the new month; therefore, we visited on 30 Jun 2025 (the day after hearing about this place). I didn't accomplish much research of this place prior to visiting so I'm not 100% sure what flavors are on a rotational basis. I imagine their website specifies the flavors so you can access their site for additional information. When we walked in, I immediately noticed the Hawaiian Sun juices which always bring a smile to my face, especially the Guava Nectar. I mean just being surrounded with those drinks along with fresh malasadas takes me back to when I grew up on O'ahu. I'll be honest though, prior to my visit, I had never heard of this business before. Then again, it's been a while since I last visited O'ahu and ~30 years since I moved away from the islands, so of course this place will be foreign to me. In fact, I used to get fresh malasadas from a popular malasada stand in Pearl City/Aiea area (I won't mention the business here) and that's all I was used to. So it was great to try a new business that specializes in malasadas versus going to a restaurant that just happens to have malasadas on their dessert menu. The menu was easy to figure out - we ended up ordering the Half Pipe with the following; Classic, Coffee, Cinnamon, Cocoa, Classic with Liliko'i filling, and Li Hing. Everything, and I mean everything, tasted exceptional with the Classic, Coffee, and Cinnamon being the absolute star performers. I'm not into cream-filled donuts/pastries but my family loved it. I don't think I would order the cocoa one again because we all had a difficult time picking out the cocoa flavor. Also, I noticed that the liliko'i filling was filled only on one side of the malasada and not in the direct center because when I broke it in half, there was nothing there at first. It's definitely not a show stopper but I know there are people out there that get bent out of shape for any minor things. I was a little concerned about the freshness of the malasadas because we arrived after the "traditional" dinner hours; however, after eating the product, I realized there was nothing to worry about - their stuff was made fresh on the spot. The prices were very reasonable with respect to any and all factors these days (economy/inflation, location of this business, etc.). I especially respect this business for their support to the men and women of the Armed Forces, including its Veterans - thank you for that! Overall, I loved this business as depicted in my 5-star rating. The atmosphere is good considering it's designed to be a quick grab-and-go concept. The music selection was perfect and the store was extremely clean. I highly recommend this business to everyone - it's truly worth the visit. I'm disappointed that this place is far away from me, but at the same time, I'm also happy that it's far away for health reasons. Mahalo Nui Loa for bringing the spirit of Aloha to the 9th island. 🤙🏽
June 30 · Dallas MEasily the best donuts and malasadas in the Vegas area. We drive all the way from Henderson just to get them. They are made fresh for every order. The unfilled ones are our favorites but the custard filling is good too, and we always they the new seasonal ones. 10/10 would recommend
September 18 · Hayli EllenbestOpened on the island of ʻOahu in 2016 as Pipeline Bakeshop & Creamery it was mid-February 2025 when Gayla Young’s famous Malasadas finally made their mainland debut, a small shop on South Buffalo Drive frying Portuguese Donuts fresh from 6a-9p on Weekdays and 9a-9p on Weekends.Sold at $3.50 each or cheaper by the dozen, each Pastry made fresh whether filled or Sugar-coated, guests can customize with ten options including three that change monthly such as Blueberry Custard and Passion Fruit.Best known for the “Classic” heavily sugared, though signature Salty Plum is also popular, what sets Pipeline apart is a gentle crunch on the golden outside before yielding a soft and stretchy center with ample fluffiness.Named after the Banzai Pipeline, a world-renowned surf break off the coast of Oahu, service is friendly and efficient with good knowledge of the product and rather than worrying about sharks or drowning the only “risk” involved with Pipeline Malasadas is eating a whole dozen in one sitting.
June 15 · Michael UzmannDelicious malasadas! I love how fresheverything came out. It's moist within andcrispy outside. Husband & I ordered the classic, cinnamon cocoa, and coffee. Everything was very good but coffee is probably my favorite. I'm excited for them to offer the custard filling option. Rather than waiting to return to Hawaii, we are very happy to have a malasadas go-to now. We will definitely come back.
March 09 · j AGASHello Fellow Foodies! If you’re searching for a sweet treat that transports you straight to the islands, Pipeline Malasadas in Las Vegas is an absolute must-visit! From the moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly fried dough and sugar fills the air, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. The malasadas themselves are pillowy soft, perfectly golden, and generously coated in sugar. Each bite is warm and melts in your mouth, with a delightful balance of sweetness. The variety of fillings—from classic custard to rich chocolate, and fruity options like strawberry and blueberry, to the bold coffee flavor—means there’s something for everyone. I especially loved the coffee filling, which was smooth and aromatic, and the strawberry and blueberry were bursting with fresh, vibrant flavor. The staff is friendly and welcoming, always happy to offer recommendations or share a bit about the Hawaiian inspiration behind their treats. The shop is clean and invitingWhether you’re a local or just visiting Las Vegas, Pipeline Malasadas is a hidden gem that deserves all the hype. It’s the perfect spot to satisfy your sweet tooth and experience a taste of Hawaii right in the desert. Highly recommended!
